Yeah, I ended up going Cain-less for that fight on my current playthrough.  Took maybe 40-60 seconds longer to kill the Thresher Maw - still did it in plenty of time.

I'm only playing normal diff., but all I did was run back and forth (Storm, actually) while Grunt and Jack killed it. I was just trying to survive, it always targets me, letting squaddies get good shots in. I never evenfired my gun!

Don't see a problem.
Infiltrator. Insanity. You don't even need heavy weapons. You just need a widow, and incinerate. Shoot it with a widow, (if you have armor-piercing ammo - even better), when reloading use incinerate, or if you have assasination cloak - use that. You should be able to kill it in under 90 secs.
