Ok so I played my imported ME1 save for my first playthru and decided to make a new Shepard so I could romance a new character in ME2 without feeling guilty(and avoid any consequences for cheating in ME3) and it turns out that apparently the default Shepard is a renegade and didn't save the council.

Now my question is,  Are these choices random for the default Shepard or is he locked into being a renegade for all new games?  And if so why?

I hated Udina with a passion and it doesn't seem to make sense that as war hero background I would sacrifice 10,000 civilian and military lives for a couple ships with far less casualties(all military) as well as leaving those geth ships I didnt destroy to shoot them from behind while they are fighting soverign.   Ill still finish this playthru but if that is the default for a new guy, i guess ill be stuck with my ME1 name and romance for any future playthrus.
