if you take someone into space with out a protective suit i don't care if they have a breathing mask or not they are going to die.  Same goes for the masks the others wore.  Major imersion killer for me.  

Well, in that scene the bridge was sealed off from the vacuum-ed CIC by a kinetic barrier/shield, so technically he wasn't actually exposed to vacuum.

Exactly,, You have eye witnesses to a murder by a Turian called Saran, no one had heard of him at that point, and he is summarily dismissed by everyone in the red-sand-sucking council as traumatized dock worker who just made up a Turian named specter who seemed to know Nylus and shot him in the back.. It was a rough spot to get over..for me..

I meant that apparently the Normandy can travel FTL between systems, why did Bioware put in that annoying fuel system? Also, I itentionally depleted my fuel reserves to find out what would happen ;-) Quicksaved before, of course :-D

You do use FTL to travel between systems. Space is big, and without FTL interstellar travel would take years. The emergancy jump likely uses emergancy reserves to get to the nearest system with a fuel depot.
