After finishing Mass Effect 2 and starting a new game, importing the Mass Effect 2 save file, the game locks up during the loading screen right after Shepard has been reconstructed.

I tried this several times and the game always locks up at the same place.

The game is running off the HDD of the Xbox 360, with the DVD in the tray of course.

I haven't tried any of the other options when selecting a New Game +. I just want to be able to replay the game with my previous and precious Shepard.
