I never said they're not the same, quite the opposite. I said they're exact same thing as you or me IF they are sapient (sentient means self-aware, not capable of thought). What makes them abominations, exactly? The fact that they were created by other beings?ere5234 wrote...
So what is the difference to a reaper or Geth or a self-sentient AI? ;p True a human clone doesn't shoot lasers from its.. ehm, things but still ,p A clone is as much a perversion of nature as a sentient machine. And thats completely ignoring religious viewpoints.
Whats the difference between a machine that asks if it has a soul and a cloned human doing the same? Both are created by beings that are in all intents and purposes engineering life. Morally to me, there is no difference between a clone, an AI, the reapers, the geth and a toaster. They are all synthetics = Engineered. If my toaster asked if it had a soul that'd pretty much ruin my breakfast, so that'd be the worst thing ever.
To clone you have to "abuse" natural occuring life. There is NO way to clone someone just based on his or her DNA, you need a carrier cell which with normal conception would bring forth an unique being (based on seed etc. not going into sex ed now ,p). I am guessing this is the part religious people have a problem but from a different pov = you kill unconceived life?, but to me you are simply abusing unconceived life. Which is imo about the same, just doesn't require you to believe in souls or gods.
Or put differently, for every thing you clone, a possibly natural conceived thing isn't born.
Of course, i am sort of crossing my own argumentation now
The question is whether something that is Sentient has the same rights as "real" humans (lack of vocabulary..) even though it was not naturally conceived. Clones are even worse than sentient machines, at least with machines you are not abusing existing life to create something that shouldn't exist (biologically not religiously).
Yes, Geth might have a reason d'étre that is more valid than any clones or reapers. But Geth i don't like simply because when i see Geth i think Replicators or Von Neumann Machines. Not something organic life should let roam free. Also with the morning war the Geth basically sealed their fate, the general quarian populace would never agree to peace with their mortal enemy. And worse, the galaxy would never allow the Quarians to regain control over the Geth. Because if the Quarians do manage that, can you say reperation for damage done by their creations? (This is why the Quarians are seen as lowest of the lowest in ME universe)
Well not to worry, its just a game

If life isn't concieved... it isn't alive. As you've noted yourself, machines aren't born, so please explain why a sapient machine wouldn't have the same rights as an organic, naturally born sapient being.

Again, confusing "sapient" with "sentient".

OP is weird, high, dum, stuipid, and can't tell real life issues from a game that (He/She probably a she though not to be sexist) He/She bought willingly with full knowledge of what would be in this game. I mean look at ME1's scandal issue about the romance plot that was on the news
OP is pathetic

EDI:"Think of it like an embryo"
Shepard:"So it's not alive?..."
Fox would get pissed at that, but if their sexbox rage was any example, they won't play far enough to see it.

You know, that is a good counter. But i meant clones and reapers with that. Geth and AI i am simply disliking and if they are not trying to kill me, i would allow them to be around.. more or less. But legal rights, thats a different matter. Certainly at no point would killing a machine be a crime, unless someone owns it (in which case what it does is the responsibility of the owner ;p). The Geth and Reapers have already voided their right to exist by killing any organic life at all, whatever the reason. (to bring it back to ME2 ;p)

Tis true, I am not native English speaker ;p
Personally i do not think full human clones or sapient machines should ever be allowed to exist. They would in both cases be aliens in our society and massive racism would become mainstream as soon as you allow clones/sapient machines same rights as humans. Think about it this way, if Dogs would have the same rights as humans, what do you think would happen? ;p Every dog-owner would be sued for slavery and dog trafficking for one...

The problem is that a sapient machine (say... Legion) has fears, feelings, and whatnot. It is only different from you in the sense that it resides in a metal body, but it is as much a person as you or me. Us being made of cells doesn't automatically make us superior.ere5234 wrote...

We are shepherded into killing a baby. This is outrageous and morally repugnant in the extreme.
This "baby" is a machine put together by melting people and spreading their goo over a framework.
I agree with vietnamsquirrel. I can't think of anything to say either.
