Hi,

I just downloaded the patch and my up to date antivirus software Avira (www.avira.com) detected the following virus/trojan:

TR/Crypt.ZPACK.Gen2

I downloaded the patch file from here: http://social.biowar...ame_patches.php

direct link to file: http://files.bioware...gonAge1.01a.exe

I know it may be a false positive so I sent the file to Avira for analysis.

False positive, pretty sure. other anti-viruses don't calim it, and it hasn't given any virus behavoir. its definately worth using the patch its safe. And use 1.01b recently released.

Avira is not good antivirus.

Avast(Home|Free) find 2 Troyan-gen after avira.

Maybe, virus on your computer set Troyan in this file....

There are numerous online file scanners you could try, such as Kaspersky or VirusTotal, but it's most certainly a false positive.

I have to agree with the responses of everyone else here. It is unlikely that the files being hosted by Bioware have been compromised. Not impossible but highly unlikely. Maybe try an alternative virus scanner if you are having a lot of false positives with that specific version. If it is only alerting you with this patch then I would not worry too much about changing it. These things happen with all virus scanners from time to time. Just disable it when you install the patch and carry on. Unless it continues to give you false positives after the patch is installed. At which point you may have to get rid of it.

TO include on cl_l's statement I also had a false positive on AVG 9.0 and selected the option for the program to ignore it. If not I am sure it would have vaulted it and caused serious issues. BIOWARE patches should be safe.

also AVG 9.0 later was linked to a desktop crash issue where DAO would randomly minmize. I switched to MS security essentials and it fixed the problem.

I also encounted the same problem, i downloaded the patch and pick up a trojan. but it seems to be harmless, everything seems fine.

but my friend copied a picture from my hard drive to his usb flash drive, and when he connected to his computer, his anti-virus pick up the trojan! so i don't knw if its spreads or is it harmless?
