Hey, my dvd drive has been busted for sometime, and once I bought ME2 I tried installing it via a crossover cable and hooking it up to my dad's laptop, using only his dvd drive.

It installed correctly and I was able to get the DLC from the website, but when I started the game it gave me Failed to Authenticate Disc

I assumed it was because it needed a disk in the drive for the first run, so I reconnected my pc to my dads laptop again and tried to run the Autorun from the disc in his drive.

It still didn't work, and I'm all out of ideas. What can I do to authenticate this game if my optical drive is broken?

Create an ISO (or mini-image) from disk 1 (using Alcohol 52% or Daemon Tools Lite or any other virtual DVD drive software), mount the ISO on your computer using Alcohol or DTools. Of course you will be using a retail DVD to create the ISO so you won't be violating the EULA.

There are other ways of obtaining a mini-image but I can't (or won't) post them here.

Aw man, it didn't work. I created an image using CDBurnerXP, it worked fine. I took it to my laptop via usb key. Then I mounted it with Virtual CloneDrive and it showed the autorun screen fine.

I press play and it still gives me the error....

I dunno what to do...
