I truly enjoyed working for the illusive man, that guy have the same mindset as i have.

Does a "The means justify the end" attitude hold a high moral/ethical value compared to our 2010 western culture standards? Maybe not, but who cares? In a hostile universe as mass effect 2 it truly is survival of the fittest. And most self rightious good doers tends to end up dead.

The Illusive man has plans for humanity. He has ambition and he is strong and resourcefull and i wouldve followed him and cerberus to hell and back. Without him and cerberus recovering shepard the mass effect universe would probarly have ended in tragedy and annihilation.

I look foward to work for him, or even replace him in ME:3!

Are you hinting to the possibility that he just used us for aquiring reaper technology and never cared for shepard, his crew or humanity at all?

I think his wish for humanitys survival and progress is genuine. And even IF he didnt care about shepard it would be a symbiotic relationship still, they would both benefit greatly from being allies. And both lose much on betraying eachother imo.

Biggest problem is that Cerberus is pretty much acting for humanity, not the full extent of galactic civilization. So they're pretty much thinking screw the Turians, Asari, Salarians, Quarians, Volus, Elkor etc.

I'm not sure I'd have saved the base if I'd known Cerberus was going to be able to lock it down completely. I thought there'd be the opportunity to pass on information about it to the Alliance at the very least.

"The ends justify the means" is just an excuse for people who can't accomplish anything. Shepard doesn't need it.

I have ME1 on Xbox, and got ME2 for PC, so I couldnt convert a save.

Cerberus is easier to take if you start a 'default' ME2 save. With the old Council dead, and that blithering oaf Udina on the council, it's kind of obvious that the council is useless. I wish I had a Renegade option to punch him in the face.

Essentially, its statistics:

- Projects to revive Shepard: Cerberus 1, Council 0.

- Initiatives to fight Reapers: Cerberus 1, Council 0.

shepard was a tool, he was an investment.

Cerberus isn't "Evil" per se' but they're nowhere near good either. They WILL take the easy road to victory given the oppurtunity, Paragon Shepard doesn't do that. Illusive man's also very greedy and has his own agenda... again, not necessarily evil, but not good either. So there's room to go either way with it... accept that they're d-bags but useful, or accept that they're d-bags and use them until you can get away.

Cerberus certainly cares for humanity, at least as far as the big picture goes, but civilization in Mass Effect is progressing (and has to some degree) beyond it revolving around a single species. There's a galactic civilization now that includes many different species and Cerberus is nothing but a reactionary organization striving to destroy that.

They're Terra Firma, only they're outside the democratic process, have billions of credits and feel perfectly fine doing sick experiments to "keep humanity strong", or elevate it above all other species to be precise.

Oh boy...

Get your Imperialistic dogma out of here. I don't care if he's still "alive"; the guys working for him are a bunch of cretins who haven't had a new idea in longer than we've had calenders.

I still gave him the base. It was payment enough for bringing shepard back, and tho it would be interesting to see what cerberus can get out of it.

Though that doesn't mean you have to actually like Cerberus, more that they're the lesser of two evils.

Mind you, depending on how you play it, Cerberus is just as much a tool for Shepard as he is a tool for them.

Yeah sure. My colony? We got lucky. We have trade relations with the Tau and Eldar. We have technology that is actually reliable, none of your machine spirit junk. Warp? Planet used to house a Necron tomb, Tau cleaned it out and we salvaged it. Warp destabilzer so we're immune to possession.

End of the day, we're the smallest problem you imperial morons have.

I played ME1...that is why I would never willingly work for TIM. I only did it in ME2 because your death kinda forced you to. You owed TIM big.

But screw TIM, blow the base.

Because the Illusive Man is a complete phony his about maintaining his own power and not humanities. That's why i blew that Collectors base to kingdom come all that power with no morality to kept in check. Plus Shephard does not like it when people try to set him up, he is a paragon but he ain't stupid.... Oh don't get it mistaken Cerberus could be just as big of threat as the Reapers Mass Effect 2 was a case of the enemy of my enemy is my friend...

Cerberus is like everything else, they have good and bad points, they are willing to act and thanks to them the Galaxy was saved but TIM is also too human-centric and dangerous if given too much power.

Oh, how I hate Cerberus!  Let me count the ways:

1. Cruelly experimented on sentient aliens.
2. I'm pretty sure Cerberus killed some really good people in ME1 to continue hiding said experiments.
3. Ruined the lives of countless human children (Kaidan, Jack, etc.)
4. Lured Ashley into a trap (he's lucky we weren't in the same room during that conversation).
5. Lured me and my entire crew into a trap (very lucky during that conversation too)

I'm sure there are other reasons, but these are the ones that spring to mind first.  Yeah, the only good thing TIM or Cerberus ever did was bring me back to life, but that won't excuse them from all the wrong they've done.

I'm Commander Shepard, and I'm going to bring you down, Cerberus.
