Just finished ME2 last night with a lvl 27 character.  If I restart the game with a lvl 1 character, I heard that you get 25% bonus xp.  Can anyone confirm?  Thanks.

Long Service Bonuses (aka bonuses for finishing ME2 at least once):
+25% bonus experience on all missions
Retain all heavy weapons from previous playthroughs
200k credits
50k of each resource

Just started a new game with a new Shep and can confirm this, but IMO the XP-bonus works only, when you have the long service AND the level 30 achievement.
This shouldn't be a problem at all, just start a game with your lvl 27 Shep and make two or three missions.

dont need the lvl 30 achievement or long service medal. I had the bonus right after finishing the game with a fresh lvl 1 character. Even another playthru which was started before the main playthru was done got the 25% bonus.

So, only the loyalty-achievements give a certain advantage for a new game and all the others are eye-candy?

I got the 25% bonus on my 2nd play it also said retain all heavy weapons but that never happend i had to unlock them all again.

When I finished the game for the first time (lvl 7) and then started a new game by importing that lvl 27-Shep, I had all the stuff available.

With new Sheps that never happened, as you stated.

For some reason I'm not receiving the 25% bonus on my characters. Ive beaten the game twice and have the long service medal. But I think at least for the xbox the game is bugged.

I am on my third playthrough of ME2 and for some reason I'm getting all the bonuses from the long service medal, but I'm not getting any of the heavy weapons from my last playthough. It's weird, because on my second playthough I *did* get all the heavy weapons. WTF is up with that?
