When I installed ME2 Collector's Edition, my system met the minimum requirements (with an nvidia geforce 6800xt), but when started it ran very, very slowly on the main menu, cutscenes, and in-game (intro movies worked fine). I assumed that my video card was the issue since it was the minimum, so I bought an nvidia geforce 9800gt 1gb card. My system now surpasses the minimum requirements in all aspects but Mass Effect 2 STILL runs very, very slowly on main menu, cutscenes, and in-game. Basically it seems as though the screen updates about every 2 to 3 (sometimes more) seconds.

Is anyone else having this problem?

There also appears to be no support from Bioware other than this forum -- which is rampant with speculative response from other clueless consumers to the overwhelming number of user issues -- where there seems to be minimal response from actual support staff.  I'm about two hundred dollars (US) in at this point, with very low satisfaction bludgeoning my high expectations.

EA provides the only official support.  Bioware provides ZERO in that regard.  There is no "support staff" anywhere other thah EA.  Exactly as the top several lines and stickied threads in the forum all explain.  nVIDIA drivers almost all create some severe conflicts with this game, and by choosing a Geforce, you now must make a search for whatever drivers actuaklly work correctly.

I have this problem too, detailed here...

I have a top-end graphics card and PC with all drivers up to date, so it's not like it's a problem with performance... Really frustrating! If anyone has any ideas... :(

I read the stickies and understand the facts you are vomiting, I was just making a comment about expectations. I have the most up-to-date video and sound card drivers, service packs, and BIOS.

In fact, you proved my point about the less-than-lackluster for this product. In essence, Bioware's idea of support is a bunch self-important teenagers to spew vitriol at people having problems with their software. Perhaps I shouldn't have expected as much, but Dragon Age was issue-free for me and past support from Stardock has probably spoiled me in terms of satisfaction. Maybe I'm wrong in my thinking, but when I click on the button labeled "Support" on the game load screen (for a days-old game), I expect to be linked to a valid support site, and not to a user forum.

Edit: Gorath Alpha -- thanks for changing the insulting personal attack.

CptBluestone: I agree, completely frustrating. I read your post and tried to remove all background apps and processes, but still no success.
