It basically boils down to your personal preference: sugar and nice (Lelianna) or spicy and nasty (Morrigan).
A relationship with Lel is more rewarding and satisfying as she is consistently sweet and whimsical all the way through. Compare this to the mean, spiteful Morrigan who'd as soon throw a rock to a drowning man then loot his corpse afterwards.
My PC is in at 100+ with Lel and everyone in the party knows it. At every camp, we keep each other warm (1. Let's go to bed is always available). Sometimes Lel giggles when I select her to pick locks or disarm traps as opposed to Morrigan's "what now?". The Swamp Witch is just plain spiteful - I lose points every time I talk to her (maybe she's jealous?).
Anyways, my PC is female and there are some intriguing g-on-g images. I'd post them here if I knew how.
I prefer Lelianna . . .

I use them both. The other day I was going through Lothering and Leliana was talking to Morrigan about dressing her up. It was hilarious to hear the reactions.
I do like running with Leliana just so I can hear her say, "I try to be merciful", while she's killing. One of my favorite lines.

I've romanced them both. I kinda like how Leliana wants to keep adventuring after the blight is over, while Morrigan seems more interested in a short term relationship. It does get annoying after a while when Leliana keeps questioning Morrigan about religion and how anyone who doesn't agree with her is wrong.

As I've played more, Morrigan has continued to grow on me. She actually is quite charming at times, especially as she warms up to you. Spice, is nice. I always romance both, because it's fun.

Yes, Morrigan does have her appeal as a dark, mysterious, bad girl. I guess I'm more annoyed how she constantly clashes with Wynne, Leliana and Alistair, who are usually also in my party, and how you lose approval with her anytime you do some good deed, no matter how minor. Heck, I lost approval just for completing Return to Ostagar and giving Cailan his proper send off. I guess she would have left him to the wolves.

how is it possible to ramance both? don't the older one find out and leave you?
at least that is what I read in the prima guide(which is only good for map and character reference, as the walkthrough for quests are incomplete)

Morrigan giggles in camp when she's friendly. She also has a much larger repetoire of sexy phrases all uttered in Claudia Black's brain melting voice when she's in love with the PC when selected. And I prefer sugar to spice so I'm not biased.

I just wish hardening Leliana had a more dramatic effect. I want to see her returned to the bad-ass warrioress she's portrayed as in Sacred Ashes.

Whilst Morrigan is fun for a fling, I did finish her story as my evil mage, but dumped her on my Dwarf Commenor run, and reloaded on my Dalish run.. Just Leliana's romance makes me laugh and smile, while with Morrigan all i do is shudder. Have to try Zevran next though,

Lelianna is all simple.
Morrigan you have to peel the layers away.

^^ and she still is only after your demon spawn. So in short I perfer the girl who lies to you once, then to the one who lies to your face for a year/ omits a huge truth and leaves out facts about her mom. (You can have anything in her hut? Tis empty you dits!)

Lel is a more complex character than she's given credit for. She has a casual attitude towards the men she has seduced, betrayed and killed, and is proud of her ability to seduce and manipulate. She's trying to be "good" now, but it's the conversion of a sinner. She's also spent more than a little time sharing beds with men, women and (from post threesome comments) groups. She could probably teach Morrigan a thing or two.
OTOH, converted sinners can be very annoying, and that sometimes comes through in Lel's dialog. She also has a knee jerk racism she tries to overcome, but it does leave me feeling like every fight my Elf might have with her in the future might carry some racial subtext.
I like her a lot, and she's absolutely a better long term relationship choice than Morrigan.

We should start a Leliana fan thing like over on the Mass Effect forums.
Morrigan already has one! Leliana fans should make one!
-I would do it but i am writing a 2500 word paper on the spread of Islam and Buddhism from their countries of origin to 1500. sigh no DAO for me.

Dog is a more suitable romance than Lelianna. Should be in next dlc - bestiality in Ferelden.
