If you are a female human noble, you can announce at Landsmeet that Alistair will be king with you as his queen. Alternatively, you can make yourself king with Anora if you're a male noble. But that's it. You also have to have sufficient coercion/cunning to pull it off.

You need to be a female human noble, in good standing with Alistair (friendly or in a relationship), and have a half-decent coercion/cunning level. With all these things in place, you have to pick the "Alistair will be king, and I'll rule beside him" choice at the Landsmeet. This is the ONLY way to become queen. You can't talk to him before the Landsmeet (there are no dialogue options for it) and you can't convince him after the Landsmeet for you to be more than his mistress if he's hardened.
Hope that helps!

You have to be a Human Noble Female, you have to arrange marriage between you and Alistair at the Landsmeet, and you and Alistair both have to survive (Dark Ritual). While Alistair will refer to you as his future Queen, the ending text will call you "Princess Consort".

Quick question on this point: can you arrange for Alistair to marry Anora, have him kill Loghain (thereby making Anora change her mind), and then announce you're marrying him? As if this was your Plan B?

Hmm. I've never tried this. I don't see why not, though. The option should still be there...

I'm pretty sure you can. He just has to duel Loghain.

You need to be careful with the Anora/you switch. When you go to name the ruler, if you pick "Alistair and Anora", and she refuses, you can only pick between Alistair alone and Anora alone. The option for you to name yourself alongside Alistair disappears.

What happens if you have a relation with Alistair, say you'll rule with him and then... let him die by killing the Archdemon. From the above I'd surmise you'd not be the queen... but who will rule then? Anora?

It's been asked before. Anora was the Queen by right if there was no liveing hiers to the throne until Alister came along. Basicly she gets taken out of the tower and put back on the thrown since while you are a noble of one of the most powerfull noble families (well was until Howle messed things up). You still don't have the exact next line to the thrown.

People don't like mages much. I don't think Isolde is that far out of the common way, in that regard. If you're a mage, Irving sarcastically notes at the Coronation that he never expected to see crowds cheering for a mage.

Mages are also legally forbidden to hold noble titles in Ferelden, as Isolde explains when asked why she tried to keep Connor's magic a secret. The Warden Amell gets a few exceptions for saving the world (getting to be the royal Chancellor, Arl of Amaranthine and probably even Teyrn of Gwaren in the epilogue), but that open-mindedness does not extend to ruling over everyone as a monarch. "Magic exists to serve man and never to rule over him," and all that.
