Best:

1. Pacing, the games pacing has improved greatly, mostly I believe due to how they introduce you to missions and the relative simplicity you can go about progressing those missions.  Combat I believe is a great part of this, not because of the STUPID ammo idea.  (since I mean come on guys... you can either get a gun that has a cool down, or... you can get a gun that when it runs out, you are screwed. I think I'd pick the infinite one and just pay attention to my cool down... technological step BACKWARDS much?) I do find myself utilizing my teams tech/bio far more in this game than the last.  In the last I grabbed my two favs and just wrecked the game.

2. Though I enjoy the rpg element (slight as it is now) the more straight forward skill upgrade system is beneficial.

Worst:

1. Character design (faces, and outfits) and customization is killed, you get stuck with one outfit for the sidekicks and they all just change color when you get loyalty... shows a lack of effort on biowares part.  Where did all my cool oufits and guns go guys?  Why do I feel like in 2 years every gun manufacturer shut down and I had to start shopping at walmart in the hunting section to outfit my team?  At the same time... I'm glad I dont have to clear our my items every mission because of the sheer mass of useless items i would pickup in me1, but when i got new items, that looked cool and new on my character, i got a warm feeling... not so in this one.  I'm like.. "oh a new gun... lets see how little i notice." And Mirandas eyebrows make her pretty much as alien as the rest of my crew... who thought she would be attractive? she looks like a victim of a rogue botox doctor, nothing moves including her heart, except in ONE mission.

2. Conversations are misleading all the time, and they are 3rd person which is VERY frustratng since the first game gave you general dialogue options that summed up pretty much your feelings and the conversation flowed far more naturally from those..  There are too many completely ineffectual dialog options.  The "renegade" and "paragon" action buttons don't give you a proper sense of what you will do in the time it takes to hit the button, and bam, maybe it was a crap decision that you didnt want to do, but hey... gotta hit the button now or miss out right? Dialog in general suffered greatly in this version, though the humor was ramped up and I appreciate that part.

Since i'm on it... a few quick dislikes, stealing from other media/games/movies is not a nod, its lazyness guys.  You know what i'm talking about. Theres too much fan service to other sci fi in this that I feel like i've been cheated, and AI pathing and cover is lack luster.  The AI dont know enough to let shields recharge, they pop up, get hit, duck and pop up again too soon and die, constantly... standing toe to toe with mechs? Come on. If you are going to make a good cover system, make your AI's USE IT. That and though I understand the difficulty of getting the lore all squared away, why are there SO MANY ERRORS in peoples recounts of how things happened, or even completely different pronunciations of planets people and places?  Couldn't one of you have sent the voice actors a phonetics chart for the hundreds of new words?  Hard Gs and soft Gs are EASILY noticeable differences when the two people using different pronunciations are right next to each other.

===
Regardless of my excess whining, I do like this game -a whole lot- and can't wait for number 3... just those nagging little issues.

Combat was good the physics involved were fantastic.

Dramatic conversation people moving around and not just standing there anymore.

Disliked

That my fished always died.

The lack of non Heavy Wepons choices there were like only 3 Assault Rifles galaxy in turmoil and only 3 Assault rifles really.

Best : Hmmm...

1) Overall story arc. It's just awesome. A credit to Bioware's team of writers. I love that choices made in game 1 have an effect in game 2 and will likely have a major effect in game 3. (for example, my current Paragon playthrough killed the Rachni queen. Oops...)

2) Level design, amount of levels, fun in combat, classes play differently.

Least :

1) Planet scanning. Ugh. What I wouldn't give to have my Mako back. Who seriously designed that and thought "You know, that will keep people entertained for HOURS!!!"

They even KNOW it sucks ass, since they give you enough resources when you start a second game that you don't really have to do much of it anymore.

2) Little to no explanation from ME1 L.I.s on why they don't dig you anymore. I'm sorry, you've been dead for two years, and all they give you is a little hug? And then act all ****y in ME3 when you go with someone else? That's just stupid.

The good:
Darker, more 'real' setting.
The loyalty missions.

The bad:
Mission complete screen thingy.
Not enough missions/missions too short.

And the special The-guy-who-thought-of-this-should-never-be-allowed-anywhere-near-a-computer-game-again reward goes too... The guy that thought up Jack!
The board were especially impressed with the dedication to make sure that Jack has no redeeming qualities at all. No regard for anything or anyone, no clothes to cover up that bag-of-bones body, no obvious signs of any form a brain activity, no abilities that are particularly useful, no interesting interaction with anyone, besides Miranda, whom she is very jealous of and last but not least: You can't throw her back in a cell.

Liked:

Charcters-Every charatcer had depth. I liked some, and hated others, but I felt at least something for all of them. They had all backstories and motivaions to do what they were, and never came off a cliche.

Mood: The mood was dakrer, and did set up the plot. There was a constanst mood of dispair no matter where you went, and the worlds and characters reflected it w/o overdoing it.

Combat: While the cover and movment still lacks the polish or intutiveness of GoW, it felt better than ME1. Shot felt like..shot. The additions of more weapons added variety, and the tiers made the weapons feel different. Add the new powers, and combingoin sqadmates into the battle, and there was quite a bit of depth

Graphic: The game looks amazing. It makes the first seem first gen. From the charater movements, and expressions, the distinct look of the world, the deisgn of th enemies, and much need fixture of graphical faults. You can tell graphic was a priority.

Didn't Like:

Story: The grand and hugs sense of scope was gone. Now I understand this game was daker, but the point remains. There is little build up to anything, no main antagonist, no plot twist no real gripping points. The charaters, and loyalty mission almost makes up for it. But the main story is the focal point, and it just never reached the peak it should've. And what exactly happend to making choices? Killing the Thorian, saving the colony, killing Wrex or not, sacrificing Ashly/Kaiden, what to do with the Rachi Queen, saving the council or not...where were the choices like this in Mass Effect 2? Not tha any of thoses choices matter, b/c there was basically no follow up to any decisions in ME2 anyway.

Explorations: You go from using to the mako on recycled terrain, and at least doing something, to redundant planet scanning, three minute sidequests with no charater interactions, and minor fetch quests.

Inventory and Loot:...ME1 had a plethora of options to specialize my character, were has ME2 has 5. There is no weapon masteries at all, so there is no incentive to use 1 type of weapon or be rewarded by using it. No more finding aromor, instead you find three or four part...for the duration of the game. No customizable weapon or armor upgrade, giving squadmembers"outfits". A major step back.

Hello,

What I like most :

- Characters

- The Normandy SR-2

What I dislike most :

- The ending boss

- Everyone having an anglo-saxon name, unlike the first Mass Effect. Come on ! The United States don't even HAVE a lunar program any-more, but both India and China have. But, in Mass Effect, only anglo-saxons are displayed. Very un-imersive.

I like the new combat cover system. Its far more responsive from me1.

I dislike the romances for tali and Miranda not being available for female sheps. I find it next to impossible to find or make an acceptable looking male shep. Also, I like Hales voice acting more.

1. The combat system was awesome, fluid, and incredibly smooth.

2. Tali, I feel like Bioware did an awesome job on her.

Disliked

1. The end boss was horrible, very dissapointed.

2. Character development (including the bad guys), you can never tell who our fighting and dont really know what you are, even at the end. Bioware usually does an awesome job at this, I never really felt like the characters were actually there or for that matter I didn't really care if most of them lived or died. With some exceptions (Tali, Grunt, Thane, Garrus). I was expecting Miranda to be a AWESOME character but was really disappointed at her. Not saying that I dislike any of the characters, I just didn't feel connected to them like I did in ME1.

Best,

-Characters, story and excellent writing/universe, best atmosphere I've ever experienced in a game (even surpassing my long time favourite Mafia), I also love how I've really grown fond of some of the characters, for instance Joker, made me laugh out loud multiple times. Characters like Jack which I had doubts about, ended up pleasantly surprising me too (although there's plenty of ppl who disagree with me).

Biotic combat is a lot more fun, had more fun playing Sentinel this time (instead of just choosing assault rifle bonus like in ME 1 and just use that most of the time), the universal cool down makes more sense and it's fast enough to still have nice combat.

Worst

Heat sinks, I can see how the combat was made a bit more intense with it, and I applaud Bioware for the courage to try and change something this essential in the game (and the Mass Effect universe), but it still doesn't make any sense. Two years ago not even the best tech and weaponry would use it, but now it's the ultimate standard, and every civilization/party uses them? Inconceivable! Kinda disappointed with it, I really like the technological explanation to not needing ammo in the first game, they kinda negated it now, hope they'll take it back in ME 3, but probably a fat chance.

The 'dumbing down', not enough different weapons (and always an obvious best outside of the heavy ones, no real choices), I miss some of the skill bars, stuff like that (but I'm kinda of an 'classic' RPG nerd, so that explains it), this also includes the mission complete screen (would've preferred the ME 1 way and report back to TIM through the brand new com room, they installed it for a reason, and it would've given players the choice to report or not). The armor is an upgrade though, seeing how you can change parts of it (but it still needs more options and more balancing, the death mask not giving any health or damage reduction bonus is just weird...), although your squad lost all choices, makes them have more of an own personality, would've preferred to have more choices (which mattered) again, but I guess we'll have to deal with it.

(also didn't like how the areas became significantly smaller, no presidium style areas in the game, everything was small corridors and small plaza's connected, I'm sure this is due to the console hardware restrictions though, so I guess it can't be helped, too bad for us pc users, but hey, better this than nothing)

It's a weird game, when playing, I got annoyed at some things, but ended up forgetting all the annoyances while in awesome combat or during brilliant conversations/cutscenes. I miss a few things and dislike a few others, but all in all, I'll have to say I like the game even better than Mass Effect 1 (and that's hard enough).

Oh and a detail which somewhere annoyed me, but wasn't that big of an issue (most won't have noticed it probably).

For having a game where all your equipment was clearly visible, holstered and equipped, I'm slightly annoyed by the SMG and the pistol having the same holstered position on the belt. Which makes you grip one of the two out of clean air. Most won't have noticed this (and maybe it's different if you didn't choose sentinel with assault rifle as specialisation gun, but it bugged me)

TWO I LIKE BEST:

1) Weapons: Unique, varied and fun.

2) Quests: Be it main or sidequest they were all creative and exceptional if a bit short.(which I'll forgive)

TWO I LIKE LEAST:

1) Armor Customization: Lacked any significant depth. No squad armor. No helmet toggle.

Suggest incorporating ME1 armors to "scan and store" system of ME2.

2) Story and Romances: I found ME2s story mediocre.(flame suit on) ME1 continuation romances were extremely lacking.

Best:

1) Excellent combat system. All aspects excepting stupid "death" and heavy weapons.

2) High immersion playing Shep.

Worst:

1) Embarrassing lack of character development. Look at DAO -.-

2) Too easy. Unity + stupid squad member invincibility + heavy weapons.

I think the best features were the new reloading system for your guns, brings more of a belief in combat and adds more tactics to game, better than ****ing infinte missle launchers, so damn cheap, and better characters

Worse, scaning planter, so damn boring, i think its unique and all, but scanning planets for an hour just to get the upgrades gets extremely reptetive, and the fact i cant switch my helmet from on to off, especially dlc armor

What I liked least.

1) Not nearly enough Cerberus hate.

2) Pop ups lingering too long.

There are lots of great (even groundbreaking?) things we knew were coming (like ability to import ME1 character), but of the things I didn't expect...

Best:

1. Dialog improvements overall. Wittier banter, tenser conflicts, more dynamic camera angles, better facial expressions, great interrupt system, etc.

2. Audiovisual immersion. Ads, newscasts, and sound effects on Omega, Illium, Citadel just make it feel more like "real" cities in space.

Least:

1. Planet scanning. I like that the minerals you survey now serve a purpose, but I have a hard time imagining how anyone actually thought tedious, time-consuming busy-work that keeps me from chatting and shooting would actually be fun. I starts out feeling acceptable, but gets old fast. (A better upgrade than the scanning speed boost would've been an auto-scan to just get 50% of a planet's total resources at once. I'd certainly give up the other half for the saved time.)

2. Making conversation skills based entirely on Paragon/Renegade score leaves mostly-neutral characters unable to pass important Charm/Intimidate checks. This encourages me to make my characters say and do things somewhat contrary to their personalities just so they can pass dialog checks later. I want my Renegade character to be SCARY, not actually murderous, but those are hard to extricate now.
