Two Things you like best about ME2 and two you like least.

1. Combat mechanics. While there is some questionable 'streamlining' - overall i think the combat is far superior to ME1. I have just completed another run through of ME1 and it's really apparent when you switch from one game to the other.
2. Characters. I'm not crazy about all of the new characters (this is totally subjective, no suprise there) but there are a few which i thought were really excellent. Mordin, Samara and Thane are the top of my list, i really enjoyed their quests and they are an interesting addition to the ME universe.
Bad:
1. Collectors storyline. I thought this was terrible unfortunately. They are not convinving as a serious threat, they are poorly realized through rushed expositions - and generally they are just rather one dimensional and underwhelming. Even the 'twist' when we realise their true origin has very little impact. What you end up with is 3 bland missions which are supposed to represent the core of the game. After having collected so many elite people from around the galaxy it felt utterly dissapointing for the story to end this way. Not to mention the fact that it's very easy to complete the game without loosing a single member. Also the laughable boss must be mentioned, i don;t need to expand any further on that.
2. Character interactions. There are too many new characters in my opinion, and while several of them are very interesting, their sheer number makes it difficult to fully flesh them out (outside of their individual quests). On the Normandy they behave like mannequins, never leaving their own little stations and very rarely even acknowledging their fellow members outside of some limited scripted scenes. For a squad that has come together for a suicide mission they certainly don't seem to care very much about who they are fighting with. Just a small amount of additional dialogue here would have gone a long way to making them seem like a living breathing crew.

- I really like the interrupting system. Want more of it.
- the mission design. Not only get to that point and kill everyone on the way. Especially Thane's and Samara's loyalty missions come to mind. And the one sidequest on the crashed ship that is about to fall down a cliff.
Worst:
- No armor/envirosuits for squadmates. Kills a lot of the atmosphere for me when Jack's running around on the migrant fleet like she does.
- That biotics are way too weak.. when playing an adept you're screwed on higher difficulty because you don't have a power to use against shields and only warp for barrier and armor.

1 - Squad synergy (Not like ME1 where you have adept vanguard etc.)
2 - Paragon/Renegade interrupts
Bad:
1 - Some ME1 choices that carries over to ME2 feels light and doesn't have a significant impact on story.
2 - Need more guns/armor customization (At least let us pick a color for our gun.)

1. Interrupt system.
2. Garrus and Tali as squad members.
Bad:
1. The incredibly short campaign, if you ignore the "assemble your team" BS.
2. Liara T'Soni.

* Amazing detailed universe/storyline
* Paragon/Renegade Actions
Worst:
* Scanning planets
* Scanning more planets
(Seriously... I pay to be entertained, and this is just plain torture... If you want to add to the gaming time for your ads, at least let us play arkanoid to gather resources or something that provides some basal level of entertainment. This is by far the most boring mini-game ever... If I were a game reviewer the scanning would have me lower your score from 97% to 75%)

Worst:
*Lack of squad dialogue and interaction
*The Human Reaper

1. The characters. Best squad in any Bioware game with the possible exception of Dragon Age
2. Alien LIs. I like them all.
What I like least:
1. Scanning for minerals. Monotonous. Monotonous. Monotonous. Actually worse than ME1. Looking for minerals was optional there. You almost have to do it in this game if you want to upgrade your guns.
2. Jack. I don't dislike her character, but I don't think she fits well in this world. She feels like she fell out of an Ultimate X-men comic after escaping from Weapon X. They could have at least come up with a half-assed sensible reason to recruit her like they did with Grunt and Legion. (Legion's N7 armor makes you curious plus he helps you by sniping some husks. Grunt could know about Collector tech because he's imprinted with Okeer's memories.) There is NO sensible reason to recruit Jack. She's nuts to begin with, loves violence for its own sake, won't work on a team, and answers to no one. As if that isn't enough, she immediately informs you upon meeting her that she hates Cerberus' guts and the only reason she wants on your ship is to rummage through your ally's secret files so she can utterly destroy them. And you just invite her aboard? Even if my sheps hate Cerberus (and all of mine do) it STILL makes no sense to recruit her. I can deal with characters whose personality I don't like. I don't like Jacob for example but I don't begrudge his presence. I acknowledge that he makes sense in game even if I don't like him. Jack makes NO SENSE. She is not just a character I find unappealing. She is a character that is nonsensical. That I cannot deal with.

1. Combat was more engaging on hardcore/insanity.
2. Tali/Garrus/Thane/Samara/Legion/Zaeed/TIM/Mordin - Some fantastic writing for these characters as well as VA.
3. Music/Art/Social-Cultural atmosphere is vastly expanded over ME1.
Bad
1. ME1 to ME2 transition comes across as force feeding me plot elements that made little to no sense. It didn't shock me that the Collectors reside near a black hole because they truly do seem like they were pulled out of someone's ass.
2. Rather chauvinistic portrayal of young women throughout ME2.

Worst:
Lack of dialogue after final mission

2.Characters - In general there isn't a party member I don't like in Mass Effect 2. In Mass Effect 1 I only liked Ashley and Tali mostly.
Dislike
1.The cover system - I dislike hiding behind cover for gun fights. In mass effect 1 you could use cover and fight like a 3rd person shooter.
2. Dumb squad AI. The squad AI is 100x worse then Mass Effect 1. On insanity it really irked me how bad the AI was/is.

1. Pacing -- things move quickly and there's rarely long boring stretches while on missions. It really does give more of an impression that dawdling is NOT in your best interest.
2. Characters -- not just the squaddies, but many of the NPCs. Even the ones you don't interact with directly have little conversations that helps the world seem more 'real' to me.
Dislikes:
1. Treatment of ME1 Love Interests -- Came off as too heavy-handed a way to tempt you to cheat. It bordered on character assassination, IMO.
2. Planet Scanning -- This comes off way too much as padding the gameplay time. I honestly thought that BioWare would know better than to create repetitive tedium and call it gameplay. There's nothing about it I would call remotely 'fun'. It's drudgery, and drudgery has no place in games.

1: The removal of superfluous RPG elements and streamlined focus on shooting.
2: An all star cast of characters and Tali/Garrus returning.
Worst:
1: Not enough dialog, especially after the final mission.
2: Not enough missions in general.

- Fast background saves, near-instantaneous texture loads, etc.
- Paragon and Renegade interrupts
- Lack of music (especially onboard the Normandy SR-2)
- Heatsink system

Jacob is Hebrew, not A-S.
Miranda is Latin not Anglo-Saxon. Jack is Old English for the Hebrew name John. Samara is Hebrew/Arabic in origins as is Tali. Thane is a city in Maharashtra India. Zaeed, Mordin, and Garrus are made up. Americans indeed do not have a lunar programme but they are still very active in space exploration. They are heavily involved in the ISS, sending probes to Mars and beyond, then there are the telescopes, satellites, ect. The moon just has nothing of value on it.

1 The cutscenes and visuals overall, it gave such a cinematic feel.
2 The combat. So much improvment. The classes felt even more individual and the biotics were great fun. (I'm looking forward to an Infiltrator playthrough.)
Worst:
1 That I couldn't allocate Charm/Intimidation points as I could in ME1. This annoyed me because I played through as a full renegade, and in ME1 i filled the intimidation skill by my 2nd run.
That frees me up to pick more paragon options on new game +, knowing I can choose the ''red'' dialoge option whenever it appears without micro managing my renegade bar, to create a greyer character that won't get me stuck with any ''Wrex on Virmire'' situations.
That's personal preference though, i dunno how other people feel about it. Maybe some people like that you can alter it on the new game +, instead of not having enough points to fill out Charm or whichever you didn't pick the first time around.
2 The suicide mission. I dunno, I was expecting afew more twists and turns. I suppose the final boss would count as that but it was all a bit weird.
although the game definately wasn't shy about throwing you shock choices - the entire Samara/Mornith thing had me pausing the game in surprise.

(1) The mission setup & pacing. Lots of reasonable length, interesting missions you could expect to finish in an evening, mostly high quality with a mix of discovery and combat.
(2) Characters.
Disliked
(1) The sparse main plot. It wasn't bad, but 80% of the game or so is unrelated to the actual problem at hand, and in the end there's not much there there.
(2) I still thought, like in ME1, there were areas with way too much extended dialogue. If you don't want to ignore the back story completely, you could spend way too long just staring at cinematic dialogue and clicking every so often.

1. Characters: Whether I'm loving them or hating them, I feel emotion and that's key.
2. ME1 transfers: I did everything in ME1, reaching level 60, every single side mission, just to see what would happen in ME2.
Worst:
1. Lack of Dialog: After a certain point characters stop talking to you. As a female Shepard I couldn't get Miranda, Jack, or Tali to say much and also Garrus, Grunt, Legion, and Samara didn't say much it seemed...
2. Short: It seemed like the main story wasn't very long and the side missions weren't the same as other Bioware games. I like the long Bioware games and the side missions, but apparently they're just going to add them as DLC but I don't have Xbox Live so what am I suppose to do? I enjoy side missions that are either commical, heart breaking, or up lifting and it felt like the side missions were just random killing assignments and not actual mini goals you could accomplish.

1) Fleshed out/detailed characters: Even some of the more plain squadmates like Jacob were interesting in their own right.
2) Revamped combat: Although controversial, I feel the new heatsinks/thermal clips made combat more enjoyable and tactical; no more mindlessly spamming bullets into the sponges that were ME:1 enemies. Plus, the new talents for each of the classes made each class a unique experience; even with loyalty powers thrown in.
Worst:
1) Lack of "core" missions: The small amount of collector related main missions felt very short and uneventful.
2) Lack of dialog: Some characters like Garrus and Tali had very little to say to a Shepard of the same gender, the mission complete screens were a huge step backwards compared to the "conferences" that the ME:1 squad held after a major mission was complete, and last but not least, the lack of party banter.

The improved combat system, in particular the cover system and ability to 'bend' a biotic.
The game plays so much more smoothly than ME1 does for Xbox. The resolutions load all at once instead of in stages which helps a great deal with immersion.
Jeers
The way experience/leveling is handled. ME1's system had so much more depth to it and being able to level up mid 'mission' is something I miss. If I could make one change to the game it would be to import the old exp based system.
Somethings seem out of place or forced. Final boss is the best example of this but Thane and his son being the only people of that race in the game, and in your party seems like a poor write in. After all there weren't any Batarians, Elcor, Volus, Hanar, Rachnii ect that were in the party and they've been involved in the ME universe since the first game.

(1) Characters - I loved them and their loyalty missions, I thought Samaras loyalty mission was the best - I thought it was fun that not every loyalty mission involved gunfights.
(2) The environment - It was awesome, and so well done. Cheers to the design team!
The Bad:
(1) I found it annoying that Tali, being an esteemed tech expert, would let my vanguard shephard desperately attempt to hack safes and terminals while she stands by idle. Maybe BW could add somekind of Leliana-like "I can do that for you" option?
(2) More solo-shephard moments! I love love loved the beginning - I also loved the part where you get to limp around as joker, and that you get to 'seduce' Morinth and spy on Thanes son... (okay, there's quite a few admittedly...) But it would've been cool if, for example, in the collector base you get seperated by your friends at some point and have to do somekind of super-epic race/fight to make it through a closing door or something like that
+ New hairstyles and free-time clothes? Atleast one long higher ponytail would've satisifed me ;D

(1) Interrupts. Though I generally play Paragon, a lot of the Renegade options are ridiculously fun.
(2) The characters are great. Mordin is amazing, I even like Zaeed and Jack. It was great seeing returning faces on the Normandy, especially supporting characters like Joker and Dr. Chakwas. The only weak link for me was Jacob, who was by far my least favorite.
Worst:
(1) Mission ending screens. These just broke the story for me.
(2) Replacement of elevators/party banter with loading screens. I miss grabbing a group and actually walking off the Normandy and taking elevators here and there. Like the mission ending screengs, the loading screens broke the flow of the story.

1: Elimination of Boring, Cookie-Cutter Side Quests
2: Lighting/Color Improvements
Worst:
1. That the Human-Reaper was human-shaped - I like the classic squid
2. The Lack of Clothing/Armor Customization
I also love how Shepard, Grunt, and Garrus are the only ones who wears armor. That read like it was sarcasm, but it wasn't. The outfits that companions have add more personality to them, rather than the dull armor everyone wears in the original Mass Effect.

Mass Effect 2 best and worst... can't pick only two, that's for sure.
Best:
1. The added linearity, oddly enough. Surprised to hear myself say that but there are so many new areas and the story of each mission just progresses better this way.
2. Gameplay elements like the combat and new character progression. Especially the new equipment management.
3. Dialogue and interaction with environment. For example in ME1 Shep will say "have a seat" but they both keep standing. They're even standing next to chairs.
4. Mako removed, stupid tank-climbing. Almost at the top of the hill now... come on... just a little further... *tank slides down to the bottom of the hill* ....
Worst:
1. Crouch removed. What the Flux?
2. Too few options for weapons and squad armour.
3. Squad AI is still rather bad. Or maybe I'mjust spoiled by DA:O AI customization. Some options would be nice though.
4. Scanning is almost as bad as driving the Mako, but at least it requires less of your attention so you can do some multi-tasking while trying not to be bored to death.

1. New N7/Recruit/Loyalty missions are much better than the old UNC ones, both in visual design and content - though sometimes feel too separated from the general gameflow since instancing.
2. Combat mechanics are much better, including ammo, cooldowns, hit zones and different enemy protections. Still require polish, especially the glitchy/unresponsive cover mechanics.
3. New Normandy is great!
Dislike:
1. Space exploration is still hollow and dull - need better resource gathering (both in mechanics/fun and reward), combat and other types of encounters.
2. Stats and equipment systems are hollow and dull as well, need more detail and customization (don't return to random leveling scheme of the 1st ME though).
3. No Tali face - cheap trick, really.
