This is really annoying. Why are the console versions of the game the only ones that dont have issues with them???

Used Tali and Jack (so no, she's not the problem *lol*), crash while second run. Reload didn't help, however, quitting the game and restart did. So maybe its a GC resource problem.
Happend before the patch (not tested yet again), specs: Win7 64, Quad plus crappy GT240.

I had some problems with stuttering and strange graphic artefacts before and crashes, but after I have installed omega drivers everything seems to be fine and it runs much better.
Hope it will help someone, b/c game is freaking awesome

UGH ive had the same issue now and ive been unable to play the game now for 3days cause it crashes every time on the Core Boss fight on the reaper....

Maybe it's payback... maybe it's because some of the PC gamers always say PC is the best so Bioware did it to spite them... ooooh...

The workarounds are basically to shoot the core/the praetorian/rearrange the mirrors (rogue VI mission) and LOOK AWAY IMMEDIATELY/run as far away as you can so that your video card doesn't actually need to render any of the purple light.
Some people have also said that switching from windowed to fullscreen mode (or vice versa, if you were playing fullscreen originally) helped bypass the issue. It didn't help me during the first Praetorian fight, but it did during the reaper IFF -- although it's possible that it only seemed like that because I was going out of my way not to look at the purple light at that point.
It's annoying as hell though, and you'd think Bioware could at least acknowledge that they know of the issue. :/

Thanks for the info, looked at the drivers but it wasn't for my version of drivers. Nvida does have a driver fix for ME 2, but it didn't resolve the problem, I think this is a bug issue with their patch, on other post this happens to people who also have dual core and above specs for the game.
What driver fix? -- would be very interested in the details, whether or not it works. Thanks in advance.

There's several other threads on this same issue, but basically, it's the purple glowing effects that cause this crash. Only way around it is to NOT LOOK at he purple light, or to at least stay far away from it. I think it's not so much the light itself as the light being animated, since the reaper IFF tends to not crash until the orb tries to close.

ehh..thanks for the advice....but someone is going to tell me how, this game went through play testing with one of the "best" game companies out there, was released, and
1. No one played this on a single core machine and noticed they couldn't play it?
2. No one played this and noticed all the crashes, especially in a big boss fight?

1. A single core processor is below the minimum system requirements. Don't blame Bioware that your computer doesn't meet the requirements.
2. I haven't experienced a single crash, except when dragging hotkey icons around in combat so I can't comment on the Reaper core crash bug.

I also tried it on my second setup with Pentium 4 and it works flawlessly also. So I don't really know whats the problem.
Anyways, I had some strange artifacts in the game and something that looks like a ghost of my char when it's moving. But it didn't cause a crash. It just started stuttering, but after I have installed omega drivers everything has started working as it should, where with original drivers I had some issues .
Good luck to all with your problems.
