Job well done Bioware i enjoyed the game very much and i have to say that it was a wonderfully smart decision to make Tali a romance option.(big reason i bought the game) and i hope to see Tali in ME3 and i hope for the romance to be more in depth and not just 1 min and 13 seconds before you take on the suicide mission. you should be able to enjoy it throughout the whole game. but yes i loved ME2 job well done

I too agree on the the initial letter. Mass Effect is by far the best game at present..... Just one little thing. Please please PLEASE give a few missions with the Hammerhead. So we can put it through it's paces, I do miss the Mako, plus the planets to explore. Plus run into the odd random bunch of pirates or Scavangers. The best way to play the game is ME1 first, then carry straight to ME2.

Loved the continuation in the Normandy destruction with Liara carried into the scene from ME1, nice touch, plus the Cerberus being aware of their ass whooping from Shephard in ME1. Just love to hate that organisation.

But definitely a good game, please developers more DLC missions. Make the experience last till ME3, will have withdrawl symptoms otherwise. lol

I wish to express I agree whole heartedly with the OP. I have played many many video games from the days of nintendo to the MMOs of today and Mass Effect is the future of gaming. I will follow Bioware and it's employees in the future, hoping for more great innovative and artful story telling and character creation.

Bravo Bioware!!! Bravo!

I couldn't have said it better myself. I feel the same way as the OP. I have never been so immersed in a video game before, and I have never cared so much about the characters in a game or movie like I do with Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2. I cannot say the same for any other game. You become attached to your squadmates like you never thought you could in a video game. It's beyond amazing. I can't praise Bioware enough to get across how amazing ME2 is.

I couldn't agree more.  When full-time neuro-enabled VR comes online, I'm going to live in the world of Mass Effect.  (You can come visit me or send me an email, but I'm not coming out.)  I've never felt so at home.  I bought the soundtracks when they came out...did you know it's possible to wear out a CD?  No, seriously...it is.  If they offered a 2-disc set for ME with all the extended tracks (e.g., try "Vigil, all versions" on YouTube) I'd love to have 44.1kHz versions of them.

So it grieves me to report bad news:  Jack Wall & team are not attached to the ME3 project!  (Can you imagine a Star Wars film NOT scored by John Williams?)

That's all the more detail I have at the moment, but this situation might change if we make enough noise about it.  Bring Back Jack!

Silent Friend wrote...

- To be perfectly honest and blunt, BioWare deserves absolutely none of the praise they've been getting nor do they deserve any type of respect. It's laughable when the Bio-Praise comes pouring in: "Oh this is the best game ever! It's so perfect"... No, it isn't. It's by far the most horrendous excuse for an 'RPG'.

There are so many problems and flaws FROM THE START of the game, that I can't see how anyone in their right mind would think this was a good game. Starting with the character-customisation, which was left completely untouched with no additional features nor improvements of any kind despite the fan feedback about how lackluster and downright terrible the system was. BioWare ignores that in favour of cashing in on the Call of Duty franchise by releasing a space sequel.

Since the character-customisation system is so flawed (lack of options, lightning, angle, etc.) more often than not there is something wrong with the custom Shepard [not to mention, ALL male custom Shepards look like **** - I dare anyone to show a picture of a good male Shepard]. So every-time I want to retry my hand at making a custom Shepard, I have the pleasure of being UNABLE TO SKIP THE LONG, OVER-EXTENDED CUTSCENE, continuing forward to an obnoxious, unnecessary game-play scenario that just leaves me with ANOTHER cutscene that I can't skip.

That's just the character-customisation and first minutes of starting a new game, you can only imagine the gaping flaws that extend throughout the entirety of the game itself.

That being said, I can only Laugh Out Loud at anyone who thinks BioWare has proved themselves anything other than flat-out lazy, shoddy, second-rate, and ******-poor developers who BRIBE REVIEWERS to give them good scores.

Oh, you actually thought North American video game reviewers were legitimate and weren't 100% influenced with money/bias? I can only imagine how many times you've been ripped off by late-night infomercials then.

BioWare proves once again that they could care less about the player but only care about the Mass Profit$ to line their already-fattened bank accounts. They make me sick.

What's worse is that YOU, the fans, the customers, don't give PROPER criticism but would rather tell BioWare "Thank You" for basically putting on the Cruise Control and picking up the Cheeto's rather than doing work and y'know, making a good sequel. All you're doing is encouraging BioWare to keep up the mediocrity.

I may be a little late to the party on this one, but:

I like how Silent posts a vitriolic opener and then responds to people who don't take it seriously as "trolls" because they don't provide any "constructive criticism" or "refutation."

Here's my refutation: deez nuts.

That said, dear Bioware:

The direction you took with Mass Effect 2 was, without a doubt, a jarring one. For some it was a pleasant surprise, others it was the worst thing to happen since Hitler came to power, and for yet others it didn't matter because it was the continuation to a story we all loved.

I fall into the latter group of people. I would have played this game and enjoyed it in whatever form it came in as long as it stayed close to its original vision. Giving the heave ho to the conventions that a lot of people regarded as sacrosanct was, without a doubt, one of the gutsiest maneuvers I've seen any game developer do in this generation of gaming. Whether it was a smart move or folly, only history will say. But the praise is unanimous and greatly outshines the criticism.

Could the game have been better? Of course. There is room for improvement in any game. Some forum members here call Mass Effect 2 the greatest game they have ever played. Me? I call it a good start.

I hope that Bioware will continue to build on the new foundation they have created with ME2. The gameplay was pleasant, the presentation was without a doubt among the most polished in recent memory, and the story was unique. Whatever the future holds for Mass Effect 3, I'll be there, because I'm more than certain that the conclusion itself will be worth the price of admission.

Sincerely,

FlyingWalrus

I really don't think this needs to be necro'ed
