Grunt will become a powerhouse when he grows up.
It is interesting to see if he how his story evolves, will be become King, Conqueror and finally Leader of the Krogan in the future? Uniting all the Clans?
Such as King Conan once was a lowly thief , progressed to warlord and conqueror and finally became King!

Garrus, Mordin and Tali. If I had to choose those would be them, I don't want to choose though, I liked every squadmate too much to choose between them. Let's hope they all come back in ME3.

Definitely Tali, Garrus and Legion. Would also love to have Mordin in there, but it's ok if he stays on the ship, with way more dialogue than Dr.Chakwas has had.

Thank god the story depends on the decisions you make and what characters you decide to keep, because if BW went with the votes here, I wouldnt get Miranda. And that would take a HUGE interest of the game from me. Not jsut because shes smokin' hot, but because she has a promising story.

Tali and Garrus are obvious choices, so they are my first two.
My only concern would be that Tali didn't have much of a role this time round. I also think that if she does return, she should definately be a romance option for Female Shepard. She seems to like the idea (and suggests it), but then gets embarassed and drops it in ME2.
That's in character IMO though, as she's still maturing and learning about how she feels etc.
Garrus was underused in ME1, but he's one of the best characters by far in ME2. His recruitment and loyalty missions are both ace.
But a third member...
I'm stuck between choosing Legion and Mordin. Legion deserves more, because you only get him near the end. Mordin's the best new character by a country mile, but it's dubious as to whether he'd really suit a returning role in the squad (as opposed to an NPC return).
So I'm going to go for:
1) Garrus.
2) Tali
3) Legion.
I wouldn't mind seeing Samara, Mordin and Jacob back as NPCs. The fact is though, Miranda is likely to be a main squad member, (even though I can't stand her). Jacob isn't very popular from what I've seen, so I doubt he'll be more than an NPC in ME3.
Thane and Jack do nothing for me, so they can stay gone, as can Grunt (who's just a dull character nothing to him IMO). Morinth is a gimmick character and should never have been included in the first place.
Wrex should probably return as a squad member for the last hurrah. Liara and Ashley/Kaiden probably will too, although I wouldn't be too fussed if they didn't (all three are rather drab characters IMO - not to mention Liara's new personality was awful).
So if we assume Garrus, Tali, Legion, Liara, Kaiden or Ashley and Miranda, that's 6 characters. Assume at least 3-4 new characters as well.
But yes, Tali, Garrus and Legion - Go A Squad! (Oh, er... and Shepard too!)
