I realize she went through some tough times, but why is she still cold to Shepard even after Shepard tells her that she was wrong about being hated for what she did.

Because it is just a contrived way for BW to keep her off the squad.  Honestly there isn't a good reason she wouldn't help you/want your help.  BW just wanted to sideline her and that was that.  I'm not sure it is even supposed to make sense or was intended to explain anything.  It simply is what it is.

This. Exactly.

The Normandy SR2 is likely the most advanced ship in the galaxy, she couldn't continue her quest for the SB's head on a platter from there? I mean really, sitting in an office on Illium with a big target on her back is better? There should have been some option after you tell her you don't hate her, other than "How are you?" and "Oh it could be years before I find the SB." Years?! Really?! Then how about we travel together while you pursue this insane vendetta, because, in case you missed it, I'm from a short-lived species.
It makes no sense. <_<

BW are supposed to be good story tellers, but I agree with the OP. My only hope is a proper dialog in a DLC or ME3 to break up with her. Especially after fiddling with my dead body. She is a creep. Never trust her again.

I am assuming that any Liara based DLC will be about taking down the SB.

It seems that a mission such as this would take up to much space to be on ME3 (if BW did it properly, it could take hours to complete).

I am basing this theory on the hacking quests that Shepard had to do for her.

Maybe once the SB is dead Liara can open up to Shepard.

I agree BW defied logic by making her stay on Illium when she would be more useful on the Normandy SR2 (yes, it is most advance warship ever built according to BW).

I am assuming if this Liara DLC comes out, she will tell you she found the SB and wants you to kill him. Hopefully, she would come along as a squadmate too, but this is probably me just hoping.

I'm thinking the DLC would probably finalize the SB situation so we can have her as a squaddie in ME3. Just a hunch.

Yeah, she will probably be a squadmate in ME3.

Can't blame me for hoping though, lol.

That would be awesome if we could. However, I'm hoping we get to take down the SB in the main ME3 game just so Bioware will put more effort into it.

Just a thought to those who thinks that the lines you get from Liara somehow means less, because you get them regardless of whether you romance her or not. Did it occur to you that Liara might be in love with Shepard even if you didn't romance her?

What happens in ME1 is that Liara, through the joining, gets to feel Shepard's mind and is attracted to him. You don't woe her or anything. You just go to medbay and check if she is fine and she will right away ask you if the attraction is mutual. If you tell her you're not attracted to her, doesn't necessarily undo the attraction she feels for you.

It's like when you recruit Tali in ME2. Tali has a huge crush on Shepard regardless of whether you romance her or not. Kelly will tell it to you straight away. If you do romance Tali, she will tell you she has had a crush on Shepard already in ME1, but she never did anything about it. Liara's and Tali's romance is similar in that respect I think. It's not about making them fall for Shepard. They fall for Shepard whatever you do. The romance is about making them overcome their shyness/awkwardness to be able to express their feelings.

So I think that Liara's lines in ME2 pretty much says that Liara loves Shepard, regardless of whether your Shepard loves her or not.

My renegade shep was an ass to her, basically called her worthless and told her to shut up.  If she still loves him after that...there's something wrong with BioWare.

Also there's the comics to consider - taking them into account as well as what Liara has done in the mean time is really not bad. I would consider it selfish myself if I expected someone to put their life on hold when I died. She' dealt with your death, which mostly meant dealing with the feelings she had for you. She also learned to love another - here you come barging back into her life after 2 years and you just want to pick up and carry on ? very very selfish.

Obviously she didn't deal with your death well if she fought tooth and nail to get your body back and then gave it over to Cerberus so they could bring you back.  Plus her sources have already told her that you're alive.  Honeslty it's really only been a blink of an eye in eithers liftime, shep was out for the two years and Asari live for what, a thousand years?

@ Androleonidas - So she should just put herself in stasis for you till your back on your feet ? ummm - almost never happens in real life and when it does it causes resentment and hate in most cases.

But this is fantasy life, not real life.

Not sure if this was covered already, but do you get the 'magic line' of dialogue option even if you didn't romance Liara in ME1? Presumably the kiss is romancers-only...

i agree with the lack of Liara acknowledging the whole relationshipw ith shepaprd, i ofc want BW to get their **** togethe rand expand on her etc and explain why her personality has been warped so massivly. I

I would also liek to know where peopel keep geting this info that she is gonna have a big part in ME3, atm it just osunds like peopel tryign to keep their hopes up.

I have many play through and i think disapointed is an understatement to how i feel about Liara's role in ME2 fullstop. I do know that she did a fairly big group of peopel who hated her on this forum/DA and others... its a shame becasue i quite liked her

I agree, it definitely would suck if Liara just kinda disappeared after ME2. Hopefully, she will join with Shepard again, but I don't think she will. Also does kinda suck that there isn't much there with the romance option with her, but I'll live.

I wouldn't be terribly surprised if her role in ME3 is little more than it was in ME2.  We are obviously supposed to not acknowledge the events that happened with the characters in ME1 and take the new crew as "the" crew.

ehh i agree with all fans, ME 2 is really amanzing, and maybe better then ME1, but still (after end ME2) can't stant this what they do with liara.

This is the best character in all game, I really can't stant this. I can say, " Bioware do what you want, but i have only one wish, i want liara in my team" I thought she will be in ME 2 ehhhhhhhhhhhhh

But i have hope, in ME3 she will back to me xD I think she finnaly find SB and she ask me for help to killing him so she join to my team :)

I really want liara, I'm really Loyal for her, i didn't do any romance im ME2, i have hope BIOWARE appreciate what i did and my decision will be have consequence in ME3.

For some reason, I feel it is much more likely she will be included in ME3 as a squadmate. Just my opinion though.

Just saying I wouldn't be surprised if she isn't.  They could keep her tied up with the SB thing for a long time and all she does in ME3 is feed you info.

what happened to the awkward archeologist girl who was crazy-curious about prothean relics and history? I guess that part of her died? and now she prefers offic work?

She also acts like a completely different character now.  even the way she talks and carries herself is totally out of sync with who she was in ME1. She's cold as a witch's teetows.

I didn't romance Liara in ME1, but the fact that her character did a 180 still bothered me a lot.  Naive, rather enthusiastic young woman to stoic information gatherer in 2 years?  I suppose it will be explained in the comic series (although the first comic was just a bunch of action with some purty pictures so I'm not holding out too much hope), but still maybe there could have been some dialogue mentioning why she was acting so different...

Yes, that is correct.  Non-romancers get that dialog as well.  The only difference is the kiss.

The ending sure implies that they're going to be your crew, short of something drastic happening. Again.
Personally, I'd like to see Liara rejoin you, with her pursuit of the SB an important secondary plotline to your quest to destroy the Reapers. It would tie together well, as we already know the SB is working with them in some capacity.
I'd also like to see Ashley/Kaiden make an appearance to do some serious butt-kissing. "Shepard, I knew you weren't a traitor!" Just saying.

I think bioware left certain gaps in the dialogue. It's probably their attempt to leave things open to wrap up in ME3.

There will come a point in time when Liara will have all the information she needs on the Shadow Broker, and she'll have to leave her office, get out there and take him/her/it down!  Hopefully she'll see that her best option is to get aid from Shepard.

As far as Ash and Kaidan, I don't think they owe Shepard that much of an apology (not butt-kissing, at least).   I think they were justified in their concerns that Shepard is working for Cerberus.

I recall Liara saying she was close to finding the Shadow Broker, only being a few steps behind him, and I think people are forgetting just how incredible this is. If she left her investigation to help Shepard, by the time she came back to her search she'd have likely have had to start from scratch again.

I mean, I get being put out about there being no opportunity to acknowledge Shepard's relationship with Liara the same way you can with Kaidan and Ashley -- sure.  That bothers me too. But saying that Liara's attitude shows she cares more about her new "friend" than Shepard doesn't cut the mustard.

It shows she cares enough about her friend to not want to waste two years or so of dedicated investigation and finish what she started. That's it.

Something wrong with Liara, more like it.

Either way, in the comic, Liara is searching for Shepard and refers to him as a friend on numerous occasions.

This sums it up.  Long after Shepard is dead Liara will still be around, she'll still remember the time she spent with him but she's gotta carry on with her life.
