What I should have said was that they probably wanted us to think about her reaction towards Shepard and wonder what her problem was. (It is probable for them to have made her act this way so we would all buy DLC at a later point).
I didn't mean to say that it is not extremely frustrating.
I'm not impressed with the reasons Bioware they gave us for why they couldn't do romance specific dialogue.
Shepard seemed happier to see Garrus than his/her lover. Even though they haven't finished the comic book series yet, why isn't Shepard happy in the least bit to see Liara?
Shepard lovingly stares at her picture before a suicide mission but when Shepard meets her in person he/she doesn't care.

Wait wait, they actually gave us a reason as to why they failed so hard at this?

It is just my theory.
Either Liara's cold demeanor and Shepard's non-reaction is leading to DLC or ME3 or Bioware just screwed us.

Just read Redemption #2 and I'm so seeing our Drell interloper falling for Liara. Whether or not she reciprocates is something to be revealed in the next two issues but I see a worrying trend. If she cheats on my Shep... I'll.. I'll cheat on her back! Then shoot the sneaky lizard (hopefully we can) in ME 3.

Of course, it's titled Redemption for some reason or another,,, Dunno why she'd feel so guilty about Shep dying, not like any other crew member was too fussed about it..

This is what worries me the most to be honest. It's why I made a second run through and romanced Miranda.

Did you read my post? At all?

Her giving Shep's body to Cerberus doesn't counter a single one of my posts or comments.

I think you're missing the point, it doesn't really matter if Shepard loves Liara.  She brings Shepard back because whether she was your a LI in ME1 or not--Shepard was Liara's LI.

With that in mind the reveal she offers in ME2 is much more meaningful.

That doesn't sound...good. I'm not going to give my opinion until I fully know what is going to happen in the last two issues, still holding out hope...

I disagree. I highly doubt Liara falls in love with Shepard if Shepard shoots her down. There is absolutely no indication that her initial crush evolves at all if Shep tells her she's not interested. That would be taking a lot on faith that her "interest" in keeping Shepard alive defaults to romantic interest. There's nothing implying that. Even in the comic they avoid romantic entaglement on Liara's part and she just calls Shepard her "friend".

If what you said is true then there would be no need to not have Liara say how she feels about Shepard, either in the comic or in ME2.

I've been playing my renegade femshep and just came upon Liara again. I try to pick all renegade options with this character. It's very had to do, especially with Liara.

Managed to do it this time and was rewarded with Liara yelling at my Shep and using the word 'dammit' - I almost dropped the controller! lol - I dunno, I've felt that the transformation of Liara made sense, until I heard that line. It was just so...intense.

It happens during the first visit, if you ask Liara if you need her help - she tells you what she needs - and then tell her you don't have the time for it.

I read the ME Redemption Comic - and I also noticed the drell seemed a bit...interested...though Liara was very focused on Shepard. Hopefully it will stay that way. I'm not sure I can take ME2 Liara *and* her falling for Feron as well.

Right, Liara isn't in love with Shepard if she gets shot down. This doesn't mean she will end up with Feron either. She would just be a loveless single gal if you did not romance her. If she loves Shepard, it would be only as a friend.

Wait so she just sees Shepard as a friend? I thought she loves Shepard as her love? Sorry just a bit confused there.

Only if you tell her you are not interested in ME1.

All I know is that if she ends up falling for this feron dude in ME3 or a DLC... I'm going to be putting a serious hurting on whatever Drell I find wandering the universe!

That will about spoil it for me with this game.

Bioware brought me back on their side with ME1 after their colossal screw up with the KOTOR games... but if ME3 or a DLC doesn't see some closure to a Liara and Shepard romance I will never buy one of their games again.Image IPB

I just got to Liara with a male Shepard who had Ashley as a romance, and the hug between Liara and Shepard had far more emotion in it than the cold kiss I got when she was my LI - I mean what the hell?

This just keeps getting worse and worse.

I just loaded up the post game and went to Illium in the hope for something new now that THE MISSION IS OVER and there's nothing in Shepard's way now. But nothing but the same old dialogue. :-(

It is the sad truth of Bioware making us wait for some Liara DLC.

As much as I hate DLC because 99% of it is a rip off I would much rather that than wait perhaps two years for ME3. I've already waited two years to continue my relationship with Liara. That's more than enough darn it!

Making us pay for something that Garrus and Tali fans got for free.

I cannot buy such a thing on faith, which I have precious little for Bioware right now. In the unlikely case the DLC should turn out to be about Liara, and not just some crap mission she sends us to do from her office, I'll need to be spoiled about it first. IF it is Liara once again having Shepard do her dirty work, or worse, rescue that stinking "friend" of her's, I won't waste my money.

I just wonder why BioWare would think having Liara have a fling with someone else is a good thing. Ash/Kaiden's reaction was bad enough, but there was the e-mail later to soften the blow somewhat. This... it just seems to be cruel to players for no particularly good reason.

Male Shepard fans. :(

A DLC could work in the post game as an in-between for ME2 & 3, where Shepard now free from her duties can help Liara take down the Shadow Broker, get back together and have her free to join the squad in ME3.

A really far-fetched explanation but I live in hope that we can get something soon and not have to wait for ME3.

You realize Bioware purposefully made the ME 1 LI's cold to encourage most people to fall sway to the new options. If they had made Liara jump all over you and give you a thousand kisses and all cutesy, no one would question to "endure" their loyalty to ME 3.

I agree.  At first I was disappointed and thought it was just laziness or oversight on the part of BW but then I began to suspect it was all a test of loyalty.  After all, loyalty is the predominant theme in ME2.  Gaining the loyalty of the crew, deciding whether Shepard remains loyal to his convictions or accepts those of Cerberus & I think deciding whether Shepard remains loyal to Liara or dumps her for a more accessible character.

Yeah... I see that exactly as well. However... with the lack of any hints whatsoever from Liara about her feelings towards you, in fact the real coldness she displays for the most part... how can you expect a male shepard to remain loyal to her with the depth of the back stories for both Mirnda and Tali. How does he not fall for them with nothing telling him that Liara still cares for him, or that she hasn't gone out and got another "friend".

If I was Shepard... and I heard her refer to this "friend"... and get the same lack of emotion from her... I would be like... ok, there is nothing there anymore, and I need to move on as well.

I will chalk it up to really poor writing for the moment, probably some of the worst character writing and development I have seen in my life.

If Liara hits it off with the Drell I am not sure how I would react to that.

Liara definitely got the worst treatment of any of the ME1 characters in ME2. The first time I played through I missed the dialogue option where she tells you that she gave your body to Cerberus because she "couldn't let you go" and it depressed the hell out of me. I really liked her character in ME1 and when I track her down in ME2 it seems like she doesn't feel anything for Shepard any more. I mean at least Ashley and Kaiden have a strong reaction to you; but Liara almost seems like she doesn't feel anything and to me that's way more brutal.

I liked some of the ME2 love interests (aside from Zero who wouldn't take the hint that I didn't have the hots for her psychotic ass); but none of them could beat out Liara. I hope she gets the attention she deserves in ME3.

The most annoying thing to me in ME2 is that it leaves you with all these unresolved situations which remain unresolved simply because the game doesn't give you any dialogue choices to deal with it even though it clearly needs to be dealt with. In ME1 if there was a problem, you dealt with it; but in ME2 the game forces you to accept BS simply because it doesn't give you the option to deal with it.

Liara is the most obvious example since she's just sitting there at her desk begging the question of where your relationship stands and yet there's no option of asking her something as simple as "do you still love me?".

The Ashley/Kaiden showdown is similar, although the fact that they storm off before Shepard has a chance to explain makes leaving things unresolved more understandable.

Other major issues the game never allows you to address include.

The Illusive Man planting bugs in your ship, which you apparently accept even after Mordin reveals that he has been able to locate and disable the bugs in his lab. One would think that asking him to clear the rest of the ship would be a natural move; but ME2 never lets you address it.

The council covering up the Collector's abductions and the existence of the Reapers. Throughout ME2 you repeatedly find evidence which proves the Collectors are abducting hundreds of thousands of human beings and that the Reapers are behind it all. Yet it never occurs to Shepard that showing the galaxy that the Council is full of **** and that the Reapers are a very real threat to the entire galaxy might be a good idea.

Why does Shepard just take this ****?
