Devs really dropped the ball with Liara...

I was braced for disappointment knowing she was only a cameo in ME2, but I'd rather she wasn't in the game at all rather than this abomination.

Did you realise the dialogue options on ilium when you ask liara why she is so mad at the shadow broker? That's the point where you break threw her built up defense and see what's underneath. She brought you back because she couldn't deal with your death. And she's seeking for revenge going after the person who wanted to sell your body. Seriously, that few lines of dialogue are better than all the crappy mails from kaidan or ashley.
But yes in one point I agree, in me3 we need a huge amount of romance options for our me1 li's, as far as you stayed faithful of course.
Those lines are present for Shepards who didn't romance Liara.
They have nothing to do with the romance.

All the ME1 romance options get minimal time. Obviously, they'll all get bigger roles in ME3, so sit tight. If you were following ME2 before it was released, you should have never expected much more from the ME1 romance options in ME2.

They are wether you had a romance with her or not. But if you had her as li in me1 and you get to hear these lines it feels just 1000 times better than any unpersonal mail.
top notch

^ this provides a decent insight into Liara's attitude.
As for the stuff in the OP, it's kind of hard to compare. The Kaiden/Ashley meeting is a special event in the game, and you can always talk to Kelly after those. In fact, I romanced neither and you can still say the same things to her (maybe it is more personalized if it's a romance, not sure).

Her "breakdown" about giving you to Cerberus has nothing to do with the romance. All her dialogue is 100% the same whether you romanced her or not.

Allow me to link one particular video, in case you missed a certain part of Liara's dialogue.
The problem is, Shepards who didn't romance Liara get the same exact dialog. Though, if you did romance her, that dialog pulls on your heart-strings more.
Now, if non-Liara romance Shepards did not get that dialog, it would mean sooooo much more.

True, you have to go to the non-spoiler forum and rave about ME2 being the greatest game ever to get anything forwarded to the devs.

Yah, I romanced her prior, and she didn't say anything like that, she was very vague, I told my friend it sounded like she was trying to avenge a lover, didn't know that if you didn't romance her you'd find out it was you.

I haven't romanced Liara, so I can't say anything about their reunion really, but in a way I feel like maybe Liara's might end up being the best one. I was shocked in general by the change in Liara from ME1-ME2 to be honest. So cold, calculating and the worst thing is, she blames herself for Shepard working with Ceberus. I think the Devs have given a decent amount of thought into her story and character change, after all the poor girl practically made a deal with the devil (in her opinion) just to save Shepard.
It would be nice for Liara fans to have been given the same conversation/emails though.
Here's hoping that we get lots of content from them in ME3.

Yeah, it's a catch 22. We can't talk about this in the non-spoiler forum b/c it's rife with spoilers.

Well, I do know what you mean. I am hoping to see some Liara DLC, given those "secret" files found in the Mass Effect 2 directory, expanding the romance with a little more than cold indifference.

To people saying Liara "moved on because she's an alien"... No. XD
As she says herself (whether you romanced her or not) she "couldn't let you go". Liara knows Shepard is being rebuilt. Kaidan and Ashley do not, so THEY try to move on. There is absolutely no reason why Liara would "move on" after only two years, especially knowing that Shepard is being rebuilt. Saying she's an asari and "moved on" because her life-span is long implies that you know nothing about Liara.
I agree with this. I think she did know since 'info is her biz' now. But they still should have had some little scene where you can go for coffee or dinner and reminisce about the 'old days'. Would have been nice to have expanded on the past.

I came up with my own personal story justification for it. Probably complete rubbish in relation to canon.
Liara's awkward around Shepard because the male "friend" who the shadow broker killed was her lover, so she feels like she was unfaithful to Shepard's memory.
That would be a pretty good twist. Maybe Liara isn't being forthcoming about her love interests after Shepard. I'm sure Asari can move on quickly considering their life span.
Holy crap a fast moving thread.

Does anyone actually play the game before ****ing? Liara tells you that she is the one who gave your body to Cerberus. Out of all the squadmates in ME1 she is the only one who kept looking out for Shepard. She is the only reason Shepard is in ME2.
Forgive me but the only email I got from Liara is addressed to all you guys smearing her without actually playing the game. It says screw you.
Funny, because the video I posted was made by... me! So yes, I have played Mass Effect 2 and gone through all the romance dialogue options. I agree that all ME1 love interests were unsatisfactory, especially so with Liara.

Did you read my post? At all?
Her giving Shep's body to Cerberus doesn't counter a single one of my posts or comments.
