What they did to Liara is unforgiveable. They destroyed her character and there was barely any connection with Shepard. If she was your LI in ME1 you meant more to her than anyone else and and all your reunion is a business meeting? One that gives your renegade points if you help her?



I was braced for disappointment knowing she was only a cameo in ME2, but I'd rather she wasn't in the game at all rather than this abomination.

All the ME1 romance options get minimal time. Obviously, they'll all get bigger roles in ME3, so sit tight. If you were following ME2 before it was released, you should have never expected much more from the ME1 romance options in ME2.

Well she did save your body from being sent to the collectors, instead giving it to Cerebus to rebuild you. Its an easily missed dialouge scene. Her dramatic turn isn't that unbelievable. She has to deal with her mother's death, Shepard's death, she defeated Saren/geth, and is now mixed up with the Shadow Broker. Thats a lot to go through!

I will agree they dropped the ball on Liara and dropped a ship on Kaiden and Ashely romance. At least with Liara you get some quest. Personally I dont like ether Ashely or Kaiden, Liara is cool but I think shes moved on, I believe in one discussion with a Asari she said "all you have to do with a human is hold out for a century and wait for them to die, but a Krogan is a different story"

As for the stuff in the OP, it's kind of hard to compare.  The Kaiden/Ashley meeting is a special event in the game, and you can always talk to Kelly after those.  In fact, I romanced neither and you can still say the same things to her (maybe it is more personalized if it's a romance, not sure).

For the record, once again, I did not miss any of Liara's dialogue.



Her "breakdown" about giving you to Cerberus has nothing to do with the romance. All her dialogue is 100% the same whether you romanced her or not.

Now, if non-Liara romance Shepards did not get that dialog, it would mean sooooo much more.

True, you have to go to the non-spoiler forum and rave about ME2 being the greatest game ever to get anything forwarded to the devs.

Yah, I romanced her prior, and she didn't say anything like that, she was very vague, I told my friend it sounded like she was trying to avenge a lover, didn't know that if you didn't romance her you'd find out it was you.

To be honest, I feel underwhelmed by the role of all the LI's. Sure, I know they were only getting a cameo, but I had hoped for something a little more substantial. I felt a bit irked by Kaidan/Ashley's response, though I can understand how they- feel after all they were starting to move on and get back into a normal life when Shepard shows up supposedly working for the enemy. Kinda blows it out of the water a bit huh?

I haven't romanced Liara, so I can't say anything about their reunion really, but in a way I feel like maybe Liara's might end up being the best one. I was shocked in general by the change in Liara from ME1-ME2 to be honest. So cold, calculating and the worst thing is, she blames herself for Shepard working with Ceberus. I think the Devs have given a decent amount of thought into her story and character change, after all the poor girl practically made a deal with the devil (in her opinion) just to save Shepard.

It would be nice for Liara fans to have been given the same conversation/emails though.

Here's hoping that we get lots of content from them in ME3.

Well, I do know what you mean. I am hoping to see some Liara DLC, given those "secret" files found in the Mass Effect 2 directory, expanding the romance with a little more than cold indifference.

That would be a pretty good twist. Maybe Liara isn't being forthcoming about her love interests after Shepard. I'm sure Asari can move on quickly considering their life span.

Funny, because the video I posted was made by... me! So yes, I have played Mass Effect 2 and gone through all the romance dialogue options. I agree that all ME1 love interests were unsatisfactory, especially so with Liara.

Her giving Shep's body to Cerberus doesn't counter a single one of my posts or comments.
