A lot depends on the approach BioWare takes. If they truly treat this as part 3 of a story, then newcomers will just have to suffer the storyline learning curve.

And, if it's part three of a story, we already have a large set of supporting characters. No need to make new ones. If you killed off a bunch of them, too bad. Don't import.

Off topic, but this.

You really can't expect to jump into The Return of the King and go, wtf? who is this little dude with this ring that he's supposed to melt in the fires of mount DOOM?

I'm not saying ME1 is better. I think ME2 is a better game. It just not as good as it would have been if I hadn't played ME1. (Which is what both of you said, I think.)

To me ME is the better game, and ME2 is a great game, but probably would have felt like an even better game if I had never played ME.

I just realized, there is like 3 Liara threads going. We are quite the group eh? good to be amongst you fellow Liara fans! At least the most of you seem to be.

WTF!?!?! 3 threads?  I've only been paying attention to this one....:(

I udnderstand they all have their reasons, but it just felt too easy, show up, tell them your going after the collectors, and bam, ok lets go die....  I 'm sorry but if someone showed up and asked me to go on a suicide mission, even for the greater good, I'd need a little more convincing.

Hey.. it's an RPG Shooter game.  Did you want to spend another hour or two per character learning about their deep seated motivations?  Or have to use a renegade/paragon interrupt for them to get with the program?

Besides... who's motivation do you doubt from the storyline?  They're all cocky SOBs anyhow.  Everyone ELSE may die, but not them. ;)

It's character development. That's all the reasoning needed. It'd be weird if everything was suddenly completely okay that you died and have now come back. Moreover, Liara has changed, and she's had two years to dedicate herself to her new mission. She's doing it for YOU, because she cares about YOU.

Shepard can't convince EVERYBODY that they're acting crazy. He/she just isn't that charismatic to make two years of obsession go away, and frankly I'd find it odd if he/she were that charismatic. It'd be some kind of main character "natural leader" mind control.

You really need to go back and read some of the thread, for the most part you are ranting about things that no one has complained about.  No one expected Liara to be a crew mate and drop everything for Shep, or for the reunion to not be akward.

Most people just want some acknowledgement that the romance even exsisted, a line of dialog to ask her why she pulled away from the kiss, an I love you, but this has to be done, just about anything more then nothing.

I myself even stated in a previous post that not putting her in the game at all and hearing about her hunting the shadow broker to get revenge for you could be heard through the grape vine, the info broker on Illium rather then being Liara could be one of her contancts helping her against the SB, even that would be better then meeting her and every one completely ignoring that any romance ever took place.

The only nod to a romance with Liara is the portrait and a kiss that she pulls away from and shakes her head afterwards, no recurring character's from ME1 even mention her exsistance, and no dialog takes place other then the standard I made a new character for ME2 and never even played ME1 dialog.

No shep can't, but shep can at least say something about still having feelings and seeing if Liara has any still...

Ya I was kinda pissed how ME1 romances are dealt with in ME2. I hope your ME2 romance is forced to the curb again in ME3. It would be nice to keep your love interest from ME2 in ME3, and they actually stay on your squad. You don't just happen to walk past them on some random planet for 3 seconds.

I would have gladly spent another 30 to 60 minutes per char truely developing them and their motivations, I'm not afraid of long games.  I mean heck, I've said a couple of time that I would love for ME3 to be a minimum of 50 hours with the chance of 75 - 100 hours doing everything.

Ok... fair enough. In all honesty, I wouldn't have minded it either. How do you suggest they do it? Huge dialog tree? Secondary recruitment mission?

Well she did become a crazy psychopath.  I wonder if the person that wrote SuZe also wrote Liara, and just kinda forgot which character they were writing at different times?  That would actually explain a lot.  I bet when Liara's VA came in to read the lines she was all like "WTF is this?!?" :pinched:

Something that just struck me, Liara says she is after the shadow broker for hurting someone she cared about. What if the SB is the one that sold you out to the collectors/reapers, informing them when and where you would be at the time of the first attack that killed Shepard? That would at least explain why Liara started her hunt for the SB, not why should would react to seeing you the way she did, but at least why she is so hell bent on going after him.

I don't know, that's why I'm a consumer and not a producerB)

Honestly the first thing I would have done was bring back the full ME crew with 2-3 new squad members to fill the place of those who may have died, this way you continue to develop the ME mates and those that you do introduce have that much more time that can be devoted to them.

Since I can't get that, it would have been nice to hear some banter between your mates as you are running around like in DA:O, that alone gives you a great avenue to develop chars and how they react with the rest of the crew.  I think the only one I ever heard was Garrus talking about the old days with Tali and her reminding him she has a shotgun.

I think the comic has her searching for shep before she finds out that the SB is involved, it doesn't really say what sets her off to go find you in the first place though.  I know the says in game that she couldn't let you go but that's why she gave your body to cerberus, not what set her off to begin with.

That's the only one I ever saw as well.  DA:O did an infinetly better job of making the squad mates feel like they were alive instead of just blank slates following you around everywhere, never saying or doing anything.  Even the ME1 elevator talks were something.

Yeah, bring back the elevators please, listening to galactic news and my squad mates talk with each other is vastly superior to looking at a loading screen on a loop.

I simply approve of the idea of giving Liara fans a forum to express their concerns with the direction her character has been driven to in ME2.
