I would totally buy a Liara-centric expansion! That would be amazing!

EDIT: And isn't Port Observation still closed on the Normandy? I would die if its for Liara.... :)

It's for Kasumi, in all likelyhood. Soz for curbing the enthusiasm...Image IPB

I liked how Liara became more steely, though.

“I’ll flay you alive. With my mind.” That surprised me.

Then she said, “Have you ever faced an asari commando unit? Few humans have,” and I was like, wait, isn’t that something Benezia said to me? Then I got a bit creeped out.

Kasumi can have Port Obs.  Liara gets the Captain's cabin.

I honestly wanted to kill Liara when I met her on Illium. She had gone too far outside the law, not to mention a bit crazy.

*Giggle*

I take it you never warmed up to our poor ME2 squadmates, Dink.
I expect you were unhappy with how they handled Liara. Hell, I was a bit unhappy... Liara didn't act near as warm to see you as I expected. Like she'd already moved on.
Then there was that awkward kiss people keep talking about as the only indicator of the past relationship. For the record, I think it looked more like a forehead nuzzle or something to me than a kiss... and she pulls away and shakes her head...
Weirdness.

True, but Liara was going outside the law for petty revenge, while Shep and his crew does it to save the galaxy.  Shep takes the outlaws and puts their abilities towards something constructive.

I won't hold my breath for a DLC to fix all these errors but if they do release it, it better come down the pipe via Cerberus so it's free and thus there's no reason to not include what happened in it in ME3.

If it is lengthy with lots of content (not just shooting stuff to hack a terminal), full of Liara, well written, includes both acknowledgment of the romance and resolution to her current trials, and includes the chance for Shep to reignite their romance arc with approprite payoff for the faithful I would be more than willing to pay for it as a full expansion.

If it doesn't include these things I'm not interested even if it is free.

Oh I'd pay for it as well, but I get the feeling that if it's something that you need to pay for instead of being able to get for free, the events that take place won't have any effect on ME3 like how the DLC for EM had no effect on ME2.

While I agree think they presented her very poorly in ME2, you really don't know if she's going outside the law. I mean, she's obviously conducting her business face-to-face with people, so it's not like she's some shadowy underworld figure.
The transformation may not be believable, but she's very up front about what she's doing - which you probably wouldn't be if you were breaking the law. Illium seems to allow some nasty stuff happen legally anyway - perhaps that's why she's there.
One issue I have with her is that a personal vendetta doesn't fit her character that well, and the player isn't given enough info to determine how she got to that point. Sort of rehashing earlier points, but the fact that she knows or at least hopes Shep is coming back makes the vendetta harder to buy.
If she's forced into it to survive or she feels there are also larger reasons the SB needs to be stopped (I'm sure the SB is into nasty stuff, and she would feel obligated to do something if she discovered them, etc) it makes much more sense.

I think everyone has it within them to go on a personal vendetta, people just take different amounts of pushing to get past their limit.  Unfortunately we don't know exactly what happened to push Liara over the edge and honestly it probably should ahve been shown in game, not in a comic.

Considering Liara is after the Shadow Broker because he currently has her friend captive/potentially had him murdered, and more importantly tried to sell Shepard to the collectors (you remember them, the folks you are "saving the galaxy" from), she is doing no different.

No, no character in ME1 can match the comedic power behind Mordins character, I admit. There is a reason he is one of my favourites (if still vastly behind any of the ME1 crew, though that becomes complex with Tali and Garrus).

Still, you need more than comic relief to build a character. Mordin did have it, but it was neatly packed away after one loyalty mission. I found this both refreshing and useful (fits with the tie up loose ends, cos we might die), but also disappointing.

Yeah, hes got his science skills, but unless he has plans to follow up and cure the genophage, I dont really see anything in his future that interests me quite so much.

Same with Samara, my other favourite. Her loose end was tied up, and despite her offer of aid whenever Shepard needs it, she looks like shell carry on justicar'ing.

None of them had them same "battle the reapers with you to the end" vibe that Ash, Kaidan and Liara had that was amazingly kicked aside in ME2. I just hope theres a clue in that, what with the reapers being the antagonists in ME3 again, not their repurposed slaves the collectors, since theyre out of the way.

Edit: Also, on the subject of Mordin, I found his comedy sometimes managed to mix it up with his seriousness. One of the funniest lines in either ME game came about when Mordin was at his most serious IMO, which is in the krogan hospital/lab, where he reveals how he once took out someone with farming equipment.

Its similar to how Joker and EDI messed up the scene where the collectors boarded the ship with their attempts and humour. If they had kept things serious, I dont think I would have had a bad word to say about that scene.

Liara is above judgment, as far as I’m concerned. I really don’t care if she is doing something illegal. ME1 proved to me that she’s a good person, and not much else matters. Whatever she’s doing, I know no one’s going to get hurt who doesn’t deserve it, which is really all I care about.

She’s a friend, I helped her out. You help your friends. Besides, Shepard has skirted the bounds of the law often.

I don't like the new Liara. She makes me feel impotent and afraid. Is that bad?

Anyway, I hope that there is in fact DLC with Liara and shepard. Because I personally find Liara very cardboard-esque. I hope there's more to deal with her, like she actually shows some symbolism and visits Shepard, if not... well... Isaac Shepard is going to be spending time with Miranda/Jack/Tali/Kelly for a while. :D

It most certainly should have been in the game. There is no reason for it not to be, other than the writers holding back for later content or trying to sell comic books. Either one is not a good excuse, in my opinion.
What I wonder about is that based on how her character is developed and presented in ME1, the only person that would be able to elicit that reaction in her is Shep. She also knows that Shep is probably coming back to life - so her motivations are a bit hazy. Sure, she's afraid Shep will hate her, but she's also shown to be a very hopeful character I would say, and so I don't completely buy it.
I think it makes more sense for her vendetta to begin with her fighting for her own survival in addition to avenge/honor Shep and her friend. Then it can devolve into what we have in game - or perhaps it doesn't even need to. But really, the anger has to be more about her than anything. She's not really angry at the Shadow Broker - she's angry at herself for letting Shep die, for letting Feron die, for giving the body away, etc. Stopping the SB is her redemption, so to speak. Again, this motivation becomes hazy once Shep comes back, but it's a decent start.
