Firstly, I know from the Dragon Age forums that i'm not the only one with this pet hate. However, finally Bioware are moving in the right direction. This may have been posted before, but I cannot find a search function.
So, my pet hate - gather team members/companions only to take a mere fraction with you on a mission while the other chill wherever that maybe (a tavern, a ship, a camp etc).
From a game balance point of view it makes sense. Having all companions with you at all times will greatly unbalance a game (either making it too easy with a full team or too difficult without a full team) and potential from a graphics point of view (I remember adding the full team in NWN2 and causing serious lag).
From a story point of view it makes absolutely no sense. These people have decided to help, willing to risk their lives if you pick them, but never bother to question why you're only picking two.
In ME, Bioware final set up a situation on Virmire to account for other members (all be it only one, potentially two if you didn't select the person responsible for the bomb as a team member). However, this was an isolated mission.
In DA:O, yet again people sat around while I grafted until the end where the narrative was written to account for all companions (some go, some stay and guard).
Pleasing, although again all too brief, Bioware sets up narrative to account for all companions. In this instance pretty much an entire act. A simple idea too; two routes - I go one way, the rest go the other. I don't even need to see the rest. Or I go, rest guard.
So, what do I want to see more of.... Account for other squad members. Perhaps not all missions, but definitely throughout the main plot. I don't even need to see what the do, where they go, just have them accounted for instead of boozing and playing cards.
What I want to see more of in ME3
