I can't think of a single expansion that wasn't over-priced if you compare its content to the content of the original game.
I do, BGII - Throne of Bhaal - best bang for the buck in this century, definitely.

I think I'll wait for some reviews first before buying DAA, seems like the best solution to this issue.

What good RPG? Or what good RPG expansion?JKJEDIKNIGHT wrote...
You're going to pay for a full game, and get 9 hours tops. And while that may be okay in some games, it's not okay in an RPG, it's just not. What GOOD RPG is short? Can anyone give an example?
We don't have a say on what is charged for an expansion, and you have every right to decide what you think is worthwhile for you to pay for, but I suspect that "% of original game length = % of original price" is not the formula used... not for this expansion or any expansion that I know of.Gosh. With that kind of persuasive talk, I just don't see how we couldn't scramble to accomodate you.And yes, BIOWARE has said point blank, that this is not a full game. Okay, so stop charging people like it is maybe? I hate to be spiteful, but at this point given the marketing strategy here, I hope Awakening gets murdered by Final Fantasy XIII or something else coming out in March, then maybe BIOWARE can get someone above a 4th grade reading level as their Marketing Manager.

It's exactly that kind of sarcasm that makes me all the more happy I won't be contributing to Awakening's profits. Sure, perhaps what I said was crude, but what about that whole, the customer is always right speal? Didn't they teach you guys that in marketing school? When a customer is irate, or lashes out, you don't goad them on regardless of what they say. If you worked as a cashier at Walmart and someone threw a fit that something was over priced, would your reply be sarcastic? I doubt it. Where's this team that is supposed to help out at the community here? Are you guys going to let your consumers be treated like that? If you guys that actually respond here on the community (Chris, David, Ferret etc) have no say in the prices of your products, then kindly tell us who does, and maybe we'll bring our gripes to them. Point me in the direction and I'll say my peace, I've no problems doing that obviously

Indeed, you'd probably call security and they'd be thrown out.

The customer is not always right, not when they are behaving badly. It is not a shield. And I am not part of marketing -- I am a developer who comes here on my own time, thank you very much.JKJEDIKNIGHT wrote...

Didn't you say you weren't buying Awakening? As I recall, that makes you not a customer. You are, however, in our house and on our forums. If you feel hard done by I suggest you contact Victor Wachter, our community coordinator. When a customer is irate, or lashes out, you don't goad them on regardless of what they say.
What you are looking for is our publisher -- EA. We are developers, as in the people actually making the game. That's it.If you guys that actually respond here on the community (Chris, David, Ferret etc) have no say in the prices of your products, then kindly tell us who does, and maybe we'll bring our gripes to them. Also, to answer my own question of name an RPG under 15 hours that was any good, Chrono Trigger. But we're talking over 10 years ago, and on SNES. And I'm sorry if the years have made me expect more length from an RPG, but still....
