Of course you would. But just because you may want info doesn't mean we can simply provide it -- information about a new game has to go through channels and is sent out in stages as we get closer to release. Once it's public, then we can discuss it. If you prefer to think we're hiding it from you, that's your business, but we're no more hiding that than we are information about new companions, game features or anything else. It will all come out in due time, and our presence on the forums (or yours) doesn't preclude that process.JKJEDIKNIGHT wrote...
No offense Ferret, but I notice you gracefully avoided giving an actual number, which is what I and I think a lot of others would like to see.
Has the 15 hours rumor been adressed yet?

See, now that's what I'm talking about. Now we have an answer. I don't beat around the bush, and I don't like it when others do either. If you CAN'T say how long it took due to corporate reasons or something to that degree, then say that. Don't be all like "everyone takes a different amount. Don't start to talk about how long it took you then change the subject with all the brilliant special effects and the grand experience you had. When you beat around the bush it gives someone the indication (whether right or wrong) that you're hiding something. This is why I like Dave, even though he's sometimes crude. Straight answers.

To JKJEDIKNIGHT: I'm curious as to your age bracket. I'm guessing around 13 or 14 and are very spoiled and have had very little parential discipline and/or guidance.
I'll be 28 tomorrow, and given your retarded comment, should I dare ask what "age bracket" you're in? Oh wait, nope, I don't care. And how does requesting and wanting information as a consumer, make me some spoiled child in need of guidance? I guess if you go out and just buy something because it looks pretty, or sounds good, without asking any specs or doing research on it, then that's your business. But when I purchase a product, I ask questions, I investigate whether it's going to be worth MY money. And if they don't answer my questions as they SHOULD IF they want to sell me something, then I call them on it and make inquiries as to why they are (as I perceive) it to be, hiding things. Maybe that's why there is so much shi*ty merchandise out there, because of idiots who don't look into the product they buy and just buy on impulse. Does that sound like you?

Yes, length is important.
My advice to everyone is wait and see. I waited on RTO and when I found out it was a paltry hour, I decided not to buy it. The same will go for Awakenings.

Here is a bulletin, production costs pretty much remain the same, salaries remain the same, distribution costs remain the same. How would you like to be told by your boss that "this week we are cutting your pay"!

Actually its all pretty funny listening to this. Do you watch a movie that is say 2 hours 11 minutes long and love it and can't wait for the sequel and then find out its only 90 minutes long? Screw that I am not gonna see the sequel because they are charging the same amount of money and it's 41 minutes shorter???

While I'm not really bashing Bioware here, since I agree that quality>quantity, they are the ones who marketed the first game as "the longest game we've created since BG2" ( or something to that effect ). This is bound to attract the kind of players that enjoy long games.
An expansion pack is usually targeted at the people who bought (and liked ) the game, so it doesn't come as a big surprise to me that one of the first questions asked about the expansion pack is "how long is it?", considering that probably for a big segment of the fanbase game length is a huge factor.

All, I know is, I will wait until it's confirmed for sure, by people who have actually played the expansion to start complaning about it's length. As of now, the supposed 15 hour length is still nothing more than rumor.
Oh, I agree fully. Still, I'm a bit surprised when I read something like "I'm honestly a little puzzled by some folks obsession with game length.
What seems more important are: Did I have a ripping good time?" written by a developer. When DAO was in development, the fact that it was really long was a selling point, and now they feel like the people who bought the game are "obsessed with game length"?

haha this is still going on, so sad! If Bioware sends me a copy of the script & a minimum of a 3 hours long HD video of Awakening gameplay...I will THINK about maybe buying it b/c i like to research things before I buy them!!!!!!!
You continue to make childish mocking statements, yet asked what age bracket I was in. Interesting.

No, the customer is not always right, but they are the ones with the money that the product was created to gain. If you want a customers money; least you can be is pleasant. Not saying your not for the most part; i'm generalizing. Personally if I want to pay to be abused/treated like dirt i'll go to Amsterdam; I won't go to Gamestop. My point is that over all the customer is not always right; but they ARE a customer, not someone being given a gift. That's something that seems to have been forgotten by most companies these days. And banks; and look what happened to them. Oh, wait, massive bonuses and early retirment. Scratch that example.
So many games are great in every respect... except as they finish you're just getting into it. This tends to happen to games that are about 8-10 hours of 'solid' playing in my experiance.
For £15 i'm not expecting the full length of DA:O again, but i'm expecting at least a third the length because otherwise i'll have finished it in a day. And considering this expansion is being released very close to AvP, FFXIII, and Heavy Rain it could be quickly passed over or forgotten if the experiance isn't 'all that'.
AvP has three different storymodes and a large online aspect. FFXIII promises to be massive and epic because Final Fantasy always is; even it's weakest installments are great games. Heavy Rain, if it's all that some are expecting, promises to be something different amongst a sea of remakes, sequels and expansions.
I've played practically every Bioware and I wouldn't hesitate to say that Bioware games never fail to deliver. I'm looking forwards to Awakening very much. Bit stung that I probobly won't see my Leliana again, but trying not to linger on that.
We are only around a month from release and I only just found out DA:A exists. The marketing isn't exacly wipespread. Not related to the topic; just something I noted and thought i'd mention where the Devs are hanging out.

Agreed on the first part. If you are going to be haughty & tall with me, don't expect my money. Honestly, if my money is so unimportant for you, no prob, I know plenty uses for $40. And no self respecting company this day & age can afford to say '****** off consumer'.
Again, not to pass blame to any here, as I did not read this whole thread.

DLC is not useless. DLC is still availible in the game that you downloaded it for.

Only in Origins, since most of us have already beaten the game, the DLC is barely justifiable especially if we wanted to use it in Awakening.Bryy_Miller wrote...

Thus RTO is useless on the ps3 version, after hearing how DLC will not carry over into the expansion. Why play RTO?
