Only in Origins, since most of us have already beaten the game, the DLC is barely justifiable especially if we wanted to use it in Awakening.

Thus RTO is useless on the ps3 version, after hearing how DLC will not carry over into the expansion. Why play RTO?

The story? The experience? The reactions of Wynne and Alistair? The added length to the OC? Killing things?

Making it so DLC items don't carry forward over to Awakenings is one of the dumbest decisions I have seen a company make....and not one explanation yet as to why they are doing it...

Furthermore, I find it dishonest that they push RTO when most players had either finished or nearly completed the game and announce Awakenings around the same time and NOT ONCE do they mention that anything you get from RTO or any of the other DLC's will not carry forward...So most people who got items in RTO they could use for 15 minutes or so? and they don't bother to tell anyone about all DLC being Origins only?

Not to mention that most people who have the DLC probably have several items they are currently using and have to what? go back to a really early save, play through again to make sure they get enough gold for the actual items that WILL be carried forward now?...lol, I mean it is just beyond stupid....

Let's see no Starfang, no edge, none of the RTO gear, no honnleath helm, no harvest ring, no shadow belt...no warden commanders armor...

Way to screw your player base Bioware....

I'm agreeing with JediKnight here - Straight answers are always preferable to being strung along. If you are not prepared to tell us the length of the game for marketing reasons, then come out and say that rather than play at being offended or confused by our desire for information - all you accomplish by doing so is making people suspect the game is going to be a disappointment.

The same goes for relationships - if the expansion is not going to acknowledge any of your relationships from the main game, say that outright, rather than dancing around it for a month and getting people's hopes of seeing their lovers - as cameos at least - and addressing the futures you'd laid out with them in the end of Origins.

Most of us are adults - Tell Us when you make major decisions ... if you let us know early on we're less likely to reflexively become angry and refuse to buy the game when the news "leaks" out.

And, another point I agree on - you hear a lot about companies complaining that consumers feel too empowered - as if they have the right to X or Y ... well, guess what, these companies do work for us and if we do not hold them up to our standards then we are giving them permission to treat us poorly. If you don't fight for a better product, then you have no right to complain when quality diminishes.

I'm honestly a little puzzled by some folks obsession with game length. What seems more important are: Did I have a ripping good time? Did it tell a tell a gripping tale that I got lost in? I hope the answers for Awakening will be "yes" to both. And game length is a bloody tough thing to gauge - some folks can finish Origins in 24 hours and some 240 hours. That's a factor of 10 difference.

Plan on having a good time and a chance to get lost in Ferelden again. Your gameplay length mileage will vary.

It's not the time - it's the ability to play it over & over again, that it sustains interest, that matters to me.  Origins has done that - there's no reason to think the expansion will do less.

haha! circles!!!!! go jedi!!!! haha still going..you should be in NASCAR

Rafaelan I agree it is a really stupid move but things to consider is that not taking the time & other resources to implement old items in gives them a chance to create more new items plus Bioware did say there would be a lot of good loot drops & items, weapons, armor to buy from the start so your gear would be quickly outdated. So I agree it is a dumb move to make us pay for something then not include it in an expansion BUT as I said this could be all bad or bad & good it could mean more items for us since they didn't waste time bringing old outdated equipment to Awakening. I know we all have favorites but we're going to get new armor & weapons!!!!

15+ hours $40=good deal!!! I don't think people consider most games are 5-15 hours & this is only an expansion plus most devs don't announce an exact completion time for their games this is actually very rare. None of those good points matter though b/c obviously jedi is not gonna stop with the circles. It is rather simple to just not buy something if you feel the need to complain so much. $40 isn't steep to me but posting $30 then raising it $10 6 hours later is a kick to the face from bioware but I love em so unless mods don't carry over or the author's don't fix them to work shortly after release I am 100% certain Awakening will be worth every single over priced penny! This is Bioware just look at how well they treat us, the fans. We get constant updates weekly basically, videos, & we get to chat with reps & devs on here. I love Bioware they can have my money b/c I know Awakening will be amazing. Actually the only 2 downfalls are 1 $10 bump that i will slowly get over & 2 all the constant circles & complaints. Get over it! you know you'll buy it!!!! or don't!!! lol

Oh, if anyone's interested, I just checked to see what my first play through of DA:O was. Have a guess? 200 hours! I'm amazed at myself! But, although I really enjoyed myself, and really really got enveloped in the game, by the end of it, I'd pretty much done everything. I was playing on hardcore, which was a nice challenge. Well, that's my experience.

After the first run, I spend time going through all the other origin stories (up to Ostagar). And, then, Mass Effect 2 came out, so I've been playing that almost exclusively. I'm not sure what my first run through of that was, but it probably doesn't matter.

What I think is most important is the story. If I get enveloped in the events and feel for the characters (which was really effective in DA:O), then it should be well worth the money. Even though most of the companions won't be back, and there will be TWO dwarfs playing major roles, and stuff... Well, I'm looking forward to this expansion immensely. It's been a long time since I've touched DA. I kind of forget how to even play, but I imagine it will all come back to me quickly. I am contemplating starting a new game of Dragon Age, now that ME2 is starting to loose it's shine, so I guess I'll do that while I wait for Awakenings.

Really... 200 hours pretty much exactly. That's what the save says at the end, just when I'm about to go through the final door.

a reviewer on a forum said it's game last 23 hours doing everything.

i think the lenght is ok for an expansion. However he seemed not impressed by the game itself and criticized the dlc problem

good link. Awakening sounds better & better! I plan on buying it but I still really hope modders adapt their work for this expansion shortly after launch so we can continue to enjoy our favorite mods. Can't wait to respec & try the new specializations!
