Concerns about a 2011 release for ME3

We all know that ME3 has already been set for 2011, but I must admit I have concerns about this.  I feel that BW might be trying to rush themselves with the development of ME3 since there was an almost 3 year development time between the first and second ME.  I don't want BW to rush their development on ME3 and release something that is nothing short of a brilliant end to the trilogy.  As much as I'm already dying for it to come out, I can wait.  The wait for ME2 was well worth it and I want ME3 to be the same.

Does anyone else share these concerns?  And thoughts if you do?

How do we know ME 3 has been set for 2011? Also, there weren't three years of development between ME 2 and 3. It was just that due to the odd situation of the months, ME 2 bumped over into 2010, probably to give Dragon Age the holiday season as it is a new franchise.

When has Bioware ever rushed a release? And I agree, where has the game been confirmed at a 2011 release?

I heard they were aiming for a 2 year development cycle, but I've heard nothing about 2011.

Nov 20, 2007 - Jan 26, 2010 = 26 months.

Assuming they've already started some work on ME3, it'd be a similar dev time. Doubtful they'd have to do as much of a tech upgrade, too.

Even if it was 2011, it would probably be the Winter of 2011, meaning that is about two years of development right there.  Now of course, we haven't acknowledged the possiblity it COULD be earlier, but I doubt it (as much as I may wish it!).

Since when do we all know that ME3 will definitely be set for 2011? And besides, it's only been released early 2010 - and Devs have said they have already begun work on ME3 and if it were coming out 2011, I'd say very late 2011 so that's almost 2 years of development time.

Not to mention the basis for ME3 would ME2, the engine wouldn't need much upgrading and they would have everything ME2 had as stock, so it wouldn't be that hard.

I don't think it's Bioware (alone) who's rushing :-(
They have a greedy corporation breathing down their necks, not the best attitude for getting a job done.

You have to take into account that Mass Effect 3 will be easier to produce since they don't have to worry about continuation! Also, I believe they have got all the "team mates" or thoes you could possiably need to select from, a diverse group and the upgraded ship. They also have the locations in many cases like the Citadel so by far its going to be the easiest game to produce which hopefully means more production time will go into story, content and scene of epicness!

Let's just hope they don't do what valve did to Half Life 2 episode 3.

BioWare stated they wanted to get ME3 out quicker than they got ME2 out. There's less to fix this time around, and I *think* I saw somewhere that they're going to pretty much use the same technology with only a few upgrades. If anything you guys should be happy that ME2 fixed a lot of stuff, and that there are really only minor grievances this time around concerning things like planet scanning and a little disorganization on the upgrades menu. The latter is easy to fix, the former may require some innovation. Nonetheless, the lack of required gameplay mechanic changes will probably let BioWare focus more intently on an epic conclusion to the story.

The third game in the series is planned for a release date of Some time in 2011 Casey Hudson commented that Mass Effect 3 "will be easier because we don't have to worry about continuity into the next one."[4]This meant that the release would be earlier. January 2011 is when it is to be expected. Casey Hudson commented that "Mass Effect 3 will have no updates in graphics, so it will be released as soon as it has been created, expect same planets and characters." However, decisions will still be imported from Mass Effect 2 to Mass Effect 3, as to keep continuity within the series.[5] Casey also said in a interview at the Consumer Electronics Show that BioWare is already at work on Mass Effect 3.

On couple big gaming sites there was following info : Release Date - TBA 2011 ( release date will be announced 2011 ) . but after couple of days they deleted it .

Imo we will see ME3 release in Q1 2012 .

Bear in mind Dragon Age is on the sequel track as well and I imagine that will take around two years to do.

I hope ME 3 comes out earlier, especially because it seems the ME 2 to 3 transition is going to be nearly seamless.  There probably won't be, story wise, a large gap of time between them and technology wise I imagine the graphics engine is probably going to stay the same.

What DID happen to ep 3? I haven't heard much about it lately.

Anyway, late 2011 would probably give them plenty of time.
I'd like to assume that they allready had most of the 3rd game plotted out as they were working on ME2. Assuming they don't overhaul the combat system again, it would naturally take a little less time.

This quote on Wikipedia is supported by references links that do not contain that information. I call BS.

Either late 2011 or early 2012. Most likely the latter.

I think ME3 should take a while before they release it, only because it needs to be PERFECT and extremely long. But if it does come out so soon I only hope that its good.

The Wikipedia entry is hardly reliable.  Even the Bioware founder/co-owner said there is no clear date yet, just that they want the date to make sense commercially and story wise.  Commercially, it wouldn't make sense to delay the game longer than the previous ones.  Story wise, it wouldn't make sense to rush it either...who really knows.  I am sure even the ME 3 team doesn't have a firm idea of when they will be done yet.

Once again, if anyone has information to actually support this January 2011 date, please provide it. Otherwise it is unreferenced Wikipedia BS.

Nah no concerns really, I am willing to bet they have most of it written, planned out, and are just doing art assets...maybe testing some dialogue trees as well.

Speaking of art, I would love to work on ME3, Bioware, are you hiring?! :P

Yep I totaly forgot about DA .

Tbh I wouldn't complain that they release ME3 even in Q1 2013 , my only wish is to make it epic ( not to rush things and ruin the story ) , because last sequal of this game really deserve to be epic .
