Should let you sacrifice the ability to freeze time and asign squad powers to having friends control your squad.

I even thought of the idea of your friends have control of the input your squadmates make during conversations.

Later I thought that idea wasn't so good, but I still think I'd be willing to lose the ability to use the power wheel if my friends could control my squad.

Multiplayer as in PVP or co-op campaigns would ruin Mass Effect.

An MMO has the potential to be the greatest MMO ever. But they won't do it because they are doing Star Wars.

You know how it is there is always some idiot who posts in every single player game only forum about how there should be multiplayer. And most of the time they haven't even thought it through in regards to game balance. The idiots who clamoured for this in Bioshock killed Bioshock 2 for me. I took one look at the MP videos and felt I would probably not buy it. Might borrow it off a friend but not gonna waste money on a game that could have been 25% bigger if they hadn't bowed down to the idiots.

I'm with you here. I'm a big fan of Bioshock 1. Heck, I even have a Big Daddy figurine posed with a Little Sister figurine near my TV. When I read about multi-player in Bioshock 2 I was disappointed. Bioshock 1 was so excellent because the dev team devoted their time and resources to crafting a good story and great levels. I cannot judge Bioshock 2 yet, but it is my fear that the great gameplay and storytelling I enjoyed in part 1 may have been compromised for the inclusion of the unnecessary multi-player mode. At the very least, the multi-player deverted time, manpower, and resources away from the core game.

I'll have to agree with one of the other posters in saying that Co-Op could be fun, but not in this series. There's supposed to be more ME games after the original trilogy, and, though I'm hoping for a new story for the most part, a co-op option, even if only a few select missions could be fun, but straight up pvp would be a no-no.

I'd have to agree with you. Though, my interest in all things Sci-Fi comes from Star Wars, my favorite story from the genre comes from Mass Effect. The thought of it just makes me giddy, and they already had a sort of template to go by. Besides, who wouldn't want to play as a hanar businessman Turian Sniper or Asari Commando?

First of all bioshock 2 multiplayer is being worked on by a completely seperate team from the first game so chill out.

I know some of you guys don't have any friends so ideas may upset you, but if it was implemented well you guys would shut up real quick.

All MMO's resort to a grind at some point or another, and when that happens, I officially stop caring about the story. As I absolutely love the ME story and characters, the thought of that happening is like stomping on kittens. Ya just don't do it! This series is too good to go out that way. Go out in triumphant victory instead of curling up in a dark corner and dying.

There are already too few great singleplayer RPGs being made anymore. Bioware should stick to what they do best. Singleplayer, story-driven RPGs. I was already disappointed to hear about Star Wars The Old Republic. Was hoping for a Knights of the Old Republic 3. Online would ruin the whole experience and essence that is Mass Effect.

ME Co-op has the potential to be great fun if done right.

The chances of it being done right are practically nil.

So no it shouldn't go online.

I think seeing how the Star Wars project goes could give some potential insight to how a Mass Effect Co-Op version would work. We know they're trying to do multiplayer dialogue with the TOR MMO, would be great if you could share the Mass Effect story with a couple friends.

maybe after the trilogy is over, that also depends entirely on how the series ends on the console. you have to admit, the Mass Effect franchise has loads of potential as an MMO. an entire galaxy to start... who knows what else with advancements in technology. many different races with many different classes, and theres space pirates, alliance military, alien military, concil military. it really has the potential. if it has anything to do with the shepard universe then yes big fail.

Have the best singleplayer experience possible... or play with annoying a**-wipes who like to shove their pathetic (make-believe) ego all up in your face.

No. I stopped putting up with that a long time ago. Anything that draws attention and work away from the SP campaign = resources lost imho. Save multiplayer for a series that wasn't built around its singleplayer (I'd happily buy a FPS set in the Mass Effect universe, though; as long as it's given the story treatment by Bioware).

guys, i think that mmo or co-op campaigns would be too hard to pull off but a co-op mode like firefight where you fight waves of enemies would be extremely easy to implement and the only trade off would be a real time selection wheel

think of the possibilities man, having a squad of three characters, be them your own shepards or any of your followers

i would **** myself in excitement

and plus, how much time would be spent designing this?  three maps and a mave mechanic then voila done deal

As cool as it would be, it would probably just end up being a WoW mirror and not have a main storyline goal

There has to be a critique other than this, considering BioWare is doing a KotOR spin off in the MMO realm.
