my computer spec

Window Vista  Home Premium
Intel® Core ™ 2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz   
RAM 8 GB
System type: 64-bit Operating system
 ATI radeon HD 4800 series [HF237]
 Direct X (unsure what direct but over 9x)
Sound adapter ( unsure)

   Problem Details
 when starting my computer from short cut or going into folder i recieve a message "has stopped working"  then given only the option to close the program.  The closest i get to starting the program is going through folder and d-clicking on MassEffecttLauncher (application) and starting it from there. When i  get a screen i get a few options and are able to hear background music play.  I'm given the option to play( which will send me to the error) conf. uninstall(grayed), exit  ect... .   

Why: i believe it is because of a corrupt file or a location error in folder (i'm not that great with computers tho).  i have tried reinstalling/redownloading (well first uninstalling of course) restarting computer between before and after installing...   the download is pretty long and i would really like to play through ME so that i can follow the Story line into ME2... please help and thank you for your time

This query never reached any conclusion, so it's unknown if there was a bad driver, a corrupted file / save, or a dual-optical drive conflict. The most common cause seems to be using an Intel graphics chip.
