So Avernus won;t step into the summoning circles, to start the final series of event in Warden's Keep.
Any ideas how to move him? I've shutdown and started from an earlier save with the same results.

Same problem, to be honest I want a ****ing refund. First time I played I played threw and was stuck here.
So I uninstalled game, reinstalled, played threw with a whole new game. And same problem, bunch of crooks game companies are. Wonder why in age of no technology games ran better, all it took was a good tapping on the cartridge and VWALLA! FF3 never gave me any ****ty problems like this =/

well after 2 hours of messing around, I found that if I changed the video setting to windowed mode, and set a smaller resolution, it worked the first try. I still have a save, I'll do some extra checking to see if just the windowes mode did it or it is if based on screen resolution.
I have a feeling my 1920x1080, is not support for whatever reason.

That's weird, because I have played through there at least twice with 1920x1080 and had no problems, so there may be other factors, but keep us informed on what you find out.

some more testing, and was able to reproduce the issue with an old save and back to full screen 1920x1080. Moved it to the window mode and good to go.
I moved down to 1280x720 full screen and it failed.
I'm running 2xATI Radeon HD 5800 Series crossfire.
Samsung Syncmaster 2494 1920x1080.

Tried it various times didn't seem to work properly, in either case I just cheated and used console to get passed the whole quest line.

I've been messing around with this same issue for about 2 hours now. I googled some results and then found this thread; I laughed as I read it at how ridiculous something like windowed mode keeping a script from running properly could be. Then I went into windowed mode and finally finished warden's keep.

I couldn't find Avernus' stash no matter what choices i made in the dialogue of Warden's Keep... I hate having open quests at the end of the game

Tried Windowed Mode to see if it would fix the problem for me and it didnt work. I was hoping to finally get past this part in the story since getting this DLC. Still not working and its been months. Any other suggestions as to a possible fix for this? I have started from earlier points and have even gone to such extremes as reinstalling the game to only have it do the same thing at the same point. Arvenus refuses to do anything after the cutscene to close the veil

This is the reply i got from contacting CS/TS via email regarding this problem. Since then they have now released an expansion, but as of yet have not fixed the current problem with the original game. When will we see a fix?

Yeah, tried all the suggested methods here but no matter what I did he won't close the gate. He just stands there and does nothing. I guess I can't use the keep stuff or see the story to completion. I'm really hoping they fix this so I can finish up and get to the expansion. But I'm not going to keep playing if this sort of thing doesn't work correctly. =/

Actually, on my game he closed the gate but if you ask me, in fact, on a first gaze, he looked like he would stay there forever and do nothing. So yeah, even if I'm not stuck there, the first time I was experiencing this playthrough I was like ''oh come on this can't happen...o.o''.
Anyway, I suggest it's the patch's fault there as It has damaged many stuff by now and I wouldn't be surprised if the Avernus glitch was one of them; after all, why not?
Be sure to backup your Dragon Age folder, uninstall, reinstall, find patch 1.02, download it and load a save before the spot the glitch happens. It might help.

Ok problem solved everyone...If you have Shale in your party you can use the "hurl rock" ability to knock Avernus into the circle-lol (took me like half an hour though) anyway, just make sure there is no loot in any of the cricles as this may prevent Avernus from getting into proper position loot everything then knock him into place.
Let me know if it works for anyone else

hah, ran for the first time in around 10 playthrough in this bug on PC (played both on PS3 and PC).
resolution work around worked.
switched from 1600x1050 to 1024x760. avernus moved to the right position. fought, saved and switched back on original resolution. all ok
thanks for the hint

found a solution, having the same exact problems as mentioned above i tried the resolution change in combination with windowed mode, by itself it didnt seem to fix the issue however, i noticed that different resolution settings affected how close avernus would get to the circle, so i kept reloading the zone "by going in and out the door" thus making the cutscene reappear and i skipped through the diaologue with esc, and he finally hit the circle and he finally got in the circle and summoned, i hope this helps anyone with the same issues.

I tried all combinations of all resolutions with windowed and fullscreen, including retriggering the cutscene with each combination, but to no avail: Avernus just walks to one side and stands there without touching a circle. I guess I'll have to reload from a previous save or come back with Shale per Frost007's suggestion.

So, I had to go build Shale's level in order to gain his Hurl Rock ability, and that took awhile because I got caught up in a long quest sequence. But using Hurl Rock on Avernus to knock about the room does start the sequence that did not start after the cinematic: the key is that Avernus has to touch one of the four energy circles on the floor (I got him to touch the one to the left of the rift if you are facing it). Thanks go to Frost007 for his tip.

I may be a bit late to the party here, but with a mage you can also fireball Avernus into the summoning circle. It only takes a couple castings to knock him back far enough--no golem required.
