Hi all - I've been having a LOT of trouble getting this game to work
properly on my PS3. I'm running the latest firmware patch, as well as
all of the latest software patches for the game. I've also downloaded
the content available with my disc, namely, the Blood Dragon armor and
the Shale character. I'm connected by HDMI to an HDTV which plays the
game at 720p resolution.  (The problems I'm about to describe also occur at 480 using the standard connector that comes with the PS3.)

The problems I'm running into are
multifold. Once the game loads, various textures in the game flicker intermittently,
such as a character's hair or the foliage in a tree. This behavior
often becomes progressively worse as the game continues. Gameplay is
also problematic. Specifically, the game can freeze (unpredictably) during
cutscenes and sections of interactive dialogue. I'm forced to reboot
the unit and try playing through these game sections again.  Thinking the game's network connectivity might be an issue, I've turned that off, but these same problems come back and haunt me.

At
first, I suspected problems with my game console, but none of these
problems appears with any of my other games, including (what I'd think are) hard graphics renders like BioShock.  I've even replaced the game disc once, but the exact same problems appear.  I'm at wit's end, because
I'm really caught up in what little of the game I've been able to get
through. I'd be more than happy to try out any tips you can provide.
I appreciate the help!

you could try deleting and reinstalling the game data (note: this is not the same as save data, so your progress will not be lost).

however, this game is a buggy mess and i've seen a lot of the flickering you've mentioned. it's possibly just crappy code on their part.
