This is the side quest where you fight the Eclipse and you get the data and have the choice of uploading to the alliance, cereberus or yourself. Anyone know if this does ANYTHING at all?

What I want to know is whether this quest only unlocks if you gave the Cerberus data to the Shadow Broker in ME1, like I did.

According to the ME wiki, it is a mission that will appear for everyone.

Nope.  It doesn't appear to have any connection to that.

If there's a payoff from either quest, said payoffs probably won't turn up until ME3.

Yeah, I gave the data to the alliance in ME1. I got the mission and gave the data to the Alliance.

So there is no effect whatsoever in ME2? Guess I'll send it to the alliance.

If you send it to Cerberus you get bonus credits I think. Not sure because I've never given it to Cerberus. I always put EDI to work deciphering it. She says it will take a year..... Hmmmmmmmmmm

When I kept it for myself EDI said that it will take the good part of a year for her to decrypt it. So I'm guessing we won't see anything about it until next game.

Which I suppose kinda demonstrates some of the problems of trying to interlink all three games. In an ideal world there'd be whole plot options that opened up depending on decisions made in earlier games. In a practical world there'd a) be a huge amount of work involved in that and lots of complaints from people who didn't get the opportunity to access a particular plot.

Ok...wow. I uploaded to Citadel. I got a private message from andersone. He says it will take years to decode and that the intel is a HUGE win for the Alliance. (Though bad for cereberus). This will make for an itneresting ME3 upload...
