All kidding aside I love Obsidian’s glitches I remember in Knights of the Old Republic I used it to level up quickly and get more then one Light saber.

Anyways the trailer looks nice, it looks like Bethesda took a step back and let the old team take the reigns in this one. I am hoping for the best!

I am guessing though that might be the Main Character in the beginning which gives off a vibe where you might be the bad guy. Oh if this game is glitches to hell, for the fun of it do you think they will blame Bethesda like they do for every game they make that’s broke?

Cool trailer. I just found out that it's coming this Fall. Can't wait.

But the brokeness of the past games WERE because of their publishers...and the original Fallout 3 was glitchy as hell so...blaming them probably wouldn't be far off.

Alpha Protocol this June (also by Obsidian, but published by Sega) will probably not be broken, only because Sega has given them plenty of time to develop it, and it looks like it'll be a good "rival" to ME2 (though I'm not expecting the same level of commercial success, unfortunately).

Sorry daoster, that was perfectly acceptable excuse for KotOR2, but they had plenty of time on NWN2. And it still had some pretty serious flaws even if it's very much a decent single player RPG at this point. The MP part just doesn't work.

That said, I think Alpha Protocol will probably be true to colors of Obsidian, but not in a bad way.

New Vegas is however the most exciting not because it's Obsidian and Fallout, but because it is COMBINED Obsidian and Bethesda! Two companies with, in my opinion very large flaws (Bioware also has flaws, but usually not something that gets in the way of my enjoyment of their games) and they are complete opposite on their flaws!

Obsidian's flaw is... Well, completionistic. Being able to stitch that last part of their games together so people don't stare through the framework and call them sloppy. Bioware does this as well, though they are better at covering these holes.

Bethesda's flaw is story. They can create huge seamless worlds that have all their holes patched up and made really glistening and shiny to the point most people get sucked in and lost, but they can't for their best ability tell a story that invokes thought or emotion. They at best present a series of events and tell you that it's happening.

I just hope we get the good of both these companies and not the bad.

Atari also rushed NWN2...as I remembered it, those were dark days for Atari and they needed the cash flow, so what we got was the cluster**** of the original NWN2...I haven't played the multiplayer in awhile, but subsequent patches have made the single player a much better experience, and MotB is still one of my favorite RPGs.

And honestly, even in its unfinished, glitchy state, I think KOTOR II was the better of the two KOTORs, and am sad that Obsidian isn't developing a 3rd (or rather, 4th?) game.

And you should be excited at the fact that it's Obsidian and Fallout...Chris Avellone is going to be working on this game, and I'm hoping he gets to implement the ideas he had from the unfinished non-Bethesda Fallout 3. Bethesda is only doing a supervisorial role in this game (from what I hear), so I'm hoping for the best.

If Atari really needed the money why did Atari wait for three years to release an expansion of NWN2 which was finished in 2007 but came on these exact boards and announce it's finished but it's waiting to find the most intrusive form of DRM

You're thinking of Mysteries of Westgate. That was an adventure pack not unlike NWN's premium modules. It wasn't a full blown expansion. Obsidian also had very little to do with its development. It was made by the talented, but continually unlucky staff of Ossian. Atari delayed it because of DRM, yes. They wanted to test a system that would theoretically be used in several subsequent games. The Mysteries of Westgate module was delayed again and again as they worked out the kinks. The sad part was they dropped the DRM from Mysteries of Westgate around a month later due to loss of sales caused from it. I agree with daoster for the most part. Atari was hard up for cash when NWN2 came out. In fact there was fear around the time Mask of the Betrayer came out that they would sink, and leave NWN2 without support.

Urghh I spent 150hrs on Fallout 3 on one play through. I don't think I can endure it again! lol

However every game inevitably has glitches. Its just how many bad ones get released with it!

Well, they cut KOTOR2 in half, NWN2 is one of the buggiest games ever (WITH the patches), they delayed Alpha Protocol like a million times (most likely 'cos there were millions of bugs), and now they're releasing Fallout: New Vegas as early as fall 2010. Hmm....

YES! Am I the only one who just found out about this?

I am?

Oh.

Glitches or no, I want it. :P But there probably will be tons of glitches. I remember downloading DLC for fallout 3 and that... was not pleasant, to say the least.

Lucas Arts rushed the game to be out by the holiday season, a little more than a YEAR of the original KOTOR.  Considering the updates made to the battle system, the updates made to the graphics, and the sheer amount of dialog...considering the amount cut (not quite half BTW), and the bloody mess the un-patched KOTOR 2 is...it's still better than the original KOTOR, and with the restoration mod, it's miles ahead of the original KOTOR.

Neverwinter Nights is still buggy, but like I said, is still playable (and added with the Mask of the Betrayer expansion, makes it one of the best RPGs available).

Alpha Protocol is Obsidian's first original IP, an extremely small company compared to Bioware these days and aren't lucky enough to have the many resources that might come from being owned by one of largest video game publishers in the world.  You'll forgive them if they want to make their first original game something that's going to be good...

And Fallout : New Vegas will be using the Fallout 3 engine, so...they already have a great start (not to mention that they've already converted the majority of their team over to the New Vegas project and most likely all that's being done now to AP is polish, polish, and oh yes, more polish).

EDIT:  Oh yeas, and here's the info on New Vegas that we know so far...http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=19666638&postcount=530

Well I liked Kotor 2 despite the glitches, so hopefully, New Vegas is enjoyable, if its anything like Fallout 3, I'm sure it will rock.
