Wow, that was totally gross, and after 4 playthroughs, it was the first I'd seen that! I don't even know where the head went...disturbing.... Okay, maybe this game is kind of violent.... ;)

Lmao. I get decapitations all the time. But, no, there is never a head. Weird really - but I suppose it's one of those things that's too expensive or difficult or time consuming to include.

It's the dual wield thing that's best. One weapon in the gut to transfix the opponent - then the other comes across and *swish* - no head. Wonderfully satisfying.

It must have happened before, and I just never noticed. This time all three fighters were attackin one guy, so the fight wasn't all frantic and spread out. I just happened to be looking right at it. That's a lot of blood. ;)

Well, I do use a mod that includes an option to have finishing blows more often. ;-)

I think Dual Wield also has one with the arms starting crossed and in one swift motion going wooooooosh both arms spread backwards and a headless corpse toppling to the ground.
Killed the head bloodmage in Denerim that way. Very satisfying. One headless head bloodmage.

Heh, maybe there's something different in how I have Leiliana spec'd this time that made it happen. I was so amazed, I hit pause and said 'Holy crap, Leiliana!'

I usually run with three DW- two warriors and one rogue (ie. Team Flurry) and I love the twirl move ("balletic" is a good way to describe it). I fist pumped the first time I saw Alistair do it.

lmao everytime my pc decapitated something I always wondered where the dang head went, always had me boggled, always expected the head rolled in the corner or somewhere so I'd try to look, blah no heads lmao...

I always use dual wield swords... I hate the shield n sword, most def the two handed swords, I've seen how Oghren or Sten swing theirs, too bulky n big n the shield naw I'm definitely a dual wielder lol

Clearly you were born out of your time.  You should have been around to enjoy the French Revolution.

Is decapitation a dual wield thing mostly? If so, that would explain why I haven't seen it. I've only recently started making use of Leiliana in combat situations, and I rarely use Zevran since it takes so long to get his lockpicking skills up to hers. Shields are so useful for staying alive.... And I have to admit, I just love all that shield bashing. ;)
I'm thinking of switching Sten to sword and shield next time.

I'm thinking it is cause I don't remember Alistair ever decapitating someone... I think it's when like someone else said 1 knife goes into the gut n the other blade take's off the head lol

But they do have a certain...fludity to them, don't they?

Anyhow, from what I've seen, decapitations seem to happen most for dual-wield characters. I could reliably get one every two or three fights on my HNM specced that while Alistair, going sword-and-board, only rarely pulled one off.

Didn't use the two-handed characters enough to really gauge them on it, but it seems to me like they'd probably fall in the middle.

The animation on it also surprised me the first time around. I chose a rogue on my second playthrough, so I saw it even more often then. However, it gets to be highly annoying, because the finishing moves are a common source of the "stop auto attack" bug, where a party member, or even your main character when you're not controlling him/her, will sometimes just stand still for 2 seconds before following a command to move on to the next target - or worse, will fail to respond for a few seconds (while performing the killing blows and right after) even when you are in control. I'm not referring to the major kills either, just common mobs. This applies mostly to melee attacks, but nonetheless, it's very irritating.

Finishing blows got old pretty fast... for me anyhow. It becomes a nuisance to watch sometimes. There should have been A LOT more as well as unique ones for certain characters too. I'm not good with toolsets and modding but if someone created a mod for this, I'm interested.

I am a huge DW fan . . . when I play a warrior I always tank with DW. Dex is king; she rarely even gets hit. I find finishing blows a nuisance though, especially as a tank; there are times I need to be attacking the next thing, not doing a decapitation dance!

I'm always really pleased when Alistair does the shield bash then the sword to the gut one. That's kind of sick, isn't it? I should probably worry about that.... ;)

I've had problems with this. I didn't know what caused it, but that's probably it. I also find it annoying when the party members stop attacking enemies when they're frozen, sometimes.

I don't like that you miss attacks while you're whirling around like a dervish. It's not too bad with the common kills, but the Ogre is horrible (especially if it triggers when there are enemies still around, though it is funny to see an enemy get stabbed with an axe or mace). I find most of them pretty funny though, particularly the big blood gyser you get with the dual wield decapitation, Ferelden must have real problems with hypertension.

To quote Oghren... "Lotta tension around here...."  And we all know what the cure to that is...spit shine on the ol' weapon!  :D

I was amused the other day when I had just decapitated an enemy n Alistair must have made a kill too at that same time but I didn't see it, anyways you can hear at that particualr time when my enemy's head came off n all this blood spurting out Alistair going "there's a gusher." I about died lmfao hearing him say that at that particular moment, thinking yep it was a gusher alright.
