Nope, Jacob is not on my fave list.

At least you have a reason you feel is valid.  There were plenty of people hating this guy on the old forums based soley on the possibility he had a relationship with Miranda.  Me, Garrus and Jacob kicked butt.

He was meh. Pretty average all around.

Wasted potential. He is flat and boring, like Garrus was in part 1.



They turned Garrus into Batman, so situation rectified there... and then they went and made the same mistake again.. wtf?

Well, I still think Jacob is a solid, decent person. Actually, he kind of reminds me of Garrus in ME1 a bit, in the sense that he too was rebelling against authority and wanted more freedom, ie., leaving the Alliance because of all the red tape while Garrus ditched C-Sec because of all the red tape.

I'm not really to fond of Jacob, mainly because I was playing as female Shepard and she laid it on way to strong. Also, I was playing as an Vanguard my first time, so the first couple of missions my team only had heavy pistol and shotgun.

I don't hate any of the characters at all.. seeing as how they don't exist.

I just don't ever fight with him unless forced to.

Seems like too much of a nice guy to be on the squad, considering how cold, tough or experienced the rest of the squad is.. Hell he makes Tali look tough. He is also complains about most of the people you pickup on the way.





On my Paragon run, I only used him on his own mission, and sent him back to the ship at the end.

On my Renegade run I don't even plan on doing his mission, unless there is a way to fail it so he isn't loyal, he isn't tough enough for my Renegade Shep.

He's a very likeable guy but just doesn't have that personality trait that makes him stand out and be interesting like most of the malcontents do.

Jacob gets a lot of undeserved criticism. He has a personality, (unlike Kaiden) and has a decent VA. He is supposed to play the part of an average solider fighting for an organization he doesn't completely agree with, and plays this part perfectly.

I don't mind Jacob, but he kinda pales in comparison to Garrus, Tali, Samara, Thane and even Kaidan. (IMO) I think FemShep's intro talk is way too forward (and I still maintain that that is a bug) but if you can get past that and just take the neutral options then you just end up friends.

One this that drives me nuts about Jacob is that throughout his back story he constantly tells you that he basically hasn't stuck to anything all his life. That just annoys me.  

My other problem with Jacob stems from a problem with all the human squad members in this game is that they are all biotics, which makes you have too many human biotics. I know why they did this, so that you wouldn't be without a biotic (if Shep isn't one) until you get Jack but it still it irks me. And yes I know that's not Jacob's fault, but it still annoys me since human biotics are supposed to be rare. (Which is why my main Shep isn't one).

As a character and a squaddie (at least Jacob seems hmmm....not psychologically disturbed as majority of team) he is not bad, but the romance ruined this guy for me forever. EVER.

They should have made Jacob more like Roy Greenhilt from the Order of the Stick. That would have been awesome.

My FemShep tried to get to know him, but it all just came out wrong as mentioned above already. Gave up on that, only spoke to him about his loyalty mission and that was that.



It is quite possible that he has an interesting story to tell, BW just forgot to add normal talk/show-interest options for FemShep when talking to Jacob
