Oddly enough I really wasn't that bothered by Femshep's demeanor when talking with Jacob in all honesty. Though maybe that's because the first time I experienced it was as my cheeky Femshep character who tends to be less professional around her crew than the others unless someone is in need of a good ol'e Alliance Command style ass kicking. So it never really struck me as being out of character, since for her acting relaxed around her crew IS something she would do.
Still after reviewing the various scenes a few times I can certainly see why some people would be annoyed with how Hale and the developers delivered those instances. Femshep's poses when talking with Jacob are infinitely more suggestive than the poses she takes when she's talking with Thane or Garrus - which makes me wonder if the people at Bioware were hoping to steer us towards romancing Jacob in the first place. (I can't help but chuckle if that's the case, since they ended up failing so spectacularly if the opinions being posted here are anything to go by.)

Still I adored Jacob as a friend, and all of my characters see him as a sort of younger brother figure that they never really wanted but are fine with having around. I can't really speak towards his romance since I haven't completed it personally though, but even if it's as bad as people say it is I doubt my opinions of Jacob will change much.

Leaning on a table with your arms folded when someone tells a story is suggestive?

He's usually got his arms straight and chest out showing off those man jugs and grinning like an idiot..

Does that mean scratching your ears means you're making lewd gestures?

I never said lewd, I said suggestive. And scratching your ears very well could be suggestive, depending on how its done.

---Jacob is just... There. He's a decent guy and all, but not someone I would miss. I'm quite certain that part of my apprehension roots on the fact that when you try to talk to him and has nothing to say he spits the "I don't want to talk with you, come again later" thing. Doesn't he have guns to clean or calibrate? Or at least a polite response. Or a funny pun. Something that doesn't translate in "GO. AWAY.".

That's what mostly bothered me with him. When he didn't want to talk I was just like "I'm captain of this ship, you'll talk when I tell you too." Might be a reason why I probably didn't talk to him much.

I think he was always the first one to go down... and when you revive him then he runs right into enemy fire again.

He was alright, but as a friend only.

Though he keeps a calm and collected outward appearance, I get the impression that he is lacking direction in his life. He left the Alliance because he disagreed with them and yet he joined Cerberus because he agreed with their 'current' direction. Yet as soon as he disagrees with them, he will drop them. And it's obvious that there's still something there with him and Miranda. Also, sometimes he'll be more than happy to show the new crewmembers around, and at other times, he'll be mistrustful of them.

"Maybe" seems to be his theme. Jacob seems to be searching for a purpose and direction. He hasn't found it in the Alliance, Cerberus, his father, or Miranda. Shepard's mission gives him his purpose.

....and scale itch if he invites Kelly to the armory after work.

Nice guy and reliable to watch your back story wise, but rather useless for using in your squad. Unless you enjoy the site of Jacob dying that is.

Oh yeeeaaaah.... good stuff. Just keep a supply of double baked mabari crunch around for him.
He's actually a lot more survivable once he gets barrier and not too bad overall. But in general, he doesn't do anything better than anyone else. His fairly well rounded ability actually works against him when it comes time to select your squad.

Jacob was generic and forgettable. He was better than Kaiden, but that's not saying much.

I thought he was a pretty nice guy. If you think nice is boring, sure, you go with that.

It's not because of that: I liked Kaidan's personality a lot but Jacob's... Meh... Kaidan seems to have an opinion, common sense and a head over his shoulders. Jacob, on the other hand, seems confused: I don't care about my father but I care, I care about Cerberus but I don't... And the list goes on. If you add that everytime he opens his mouth to make a suggestion is, generally, something counterproductive, you get what, for me, is the nice guy that's so confused he doesn't do anything straight.

I loved the look what Tali gives him right after first introduction of her on new Normandy... it was like "Just one more word and you will searching your teeth on the floor" look.

I really wish that writers will create scenario where romancing is just an option and not mine which could explode in less proper time.

That's why my Shepard have almost no interactions whit male part of the crew because i plan to remain fully faithful to Liara, and really if Jacob will start whit this "prize" text to my Shepard... then i will feed him Tresher Maws on Tuchanka... or arrange date whit Morinth.

You can interact all you want: the romance triggers right after you response affirmatively to a very specific and obvious situation. If you decline the offer nothing happens. At least that's how it works with a male Shepard, though I doubt it's any different with a female one.

Yeah, he certainly gets Tali's 'look of death'. But then he deserved it for his AI comments.

Jacob got my bad side because of my bitterness with Cerberus. In our conversations I find myself following options that assert my command over him and make it clear that I don't trust him and don't want him to come along. I feel his character suffers because he is the first person you run into when you wake up on that freak show called Lazarus station.

BioWare's plot has you dying and brought back to life by Cerberus, but I can't shake that feeling like I have been kidnapped and being forced to work with terrorists. As such, I tend to be very cold to Jacob and Miranda most of the time. I also hate it when they are there for the new arrivals, I wish I could tell them to both shut up and GTFO of the comm room.

I am less hard on Miranda though..not sure why. It could be because her character transforms from bitterness and jealousy to gratitude and obedience. With Jacob there is no transformation, so my feelings about him remain pretty much the same.
