I'm getting ready to do my annual re-formatting and I was wondering what files I should back up for DAO in order to save characters as well as specializations and such.

USB Flash Drive your entire Bioware Folder. When ya get DA:O Re-Installed, delete it's Bioware Folder from 'My Documents', then Copy your Flash Drive Bioware Folder & Paste it into 'My Documents' in the other one's place. This should preserve your characters, saves, etc.
I haven't done this personally, but I can't imagine it failing. I'm in middle of a puder build, then when it's done, if it works, i'm gonna do this same thing to preserve my Standalone CC Characters.
Hope I helped. (If ya don't have any USB Flash Drives, Google them. 4GB Models don't cost much. I gotta 4GB Kingston USB Flash Drive, & am happy with it's performance & ease of use. I vouch for it. I use it for File backup.)
