However, Mass Effect 2 was different for me, and this is probably a testament to Bioware's skill in developing characters. From the beginning, I said, "Okay, Miranda will be my LI in this playthrough." That was all well and good for the first part of the game. I didn't particularly feel anything special towards Miranda, but she's just a video game character. I'm not supposed to feel anything. But then I recruited Tali, and there was just something about her, perhaps the familiarity from the first game, perhaps the dorky shyness, perhaps a combination of both. I found myself, for the first time ever, abandoning the LI that I had picked from the beginning because I actually cared more about someone else. No, I am not saying I have a crush on a video game character, but it was just a really cool feeling that Bioware could have such a variety of well developed characters that I was actually compelled to romance a different character.
Anyway, I am curious. Did anyone else think they were going to romance someone else, get 99% through it, and then succumb to Tali's charms? I did.
