Yeah, Miranda's constant complaining about growing up a privileged genetically perfected superhuman was "funny" too.

And I wouldn't say Tali never whines; she whines a lot about losing her homeworld to the Geth. Which is "funny" because the Quarians created the Geth.

Everyone whines, and what determines whether their whining is "funny" or "emotional" is whether you like them or not. If you like the character, you'll think their troubled past is touching and heart-wrenching. If you don't like the character, you'll think it's laughable. It's a causative relationship; your opinion determines your perception here, not the other way around.

I believe I can change her! ^^

She's great already though, emotionally blossoming and opening up to my Shep, humorous and a great, powerful warrior.

Not to mention she has the best looking face and body in the entire game. (now I just have to convince her to grow her hair ^^)

The great thing about the character though is how hard it is to approach her, how effectively she shuts everyone out. Leaving her to be misunderstood, hated and feared all across the gaming community. Well done Bioware, great character development.

Yeah, she had a great childhood....

She was tortured, experimented upon and forced (even conditioned) to fight other children, after escaping and being used for sex by all kind of people (the only way for her to even survive) she still had to raise herself and take care of herself, trying to survive all alone in a hostile environment.

False perception, my ass. Sure, some kids in that research facility had it as bad or even slightly worse than her, but she had it worse than anyone on the Normandy, pretty confident of that. (even Kaiden or my streetsraised Shep didn't have it near as bad).

I seriously don't understand how people in this game can take Miranda's side in the fight and claim it to be the good thing to do. I would get pissed like hell if I was her too.

Yeah Miranda's justification in that argument was seriously weaksauce.

"Sure we kidnapped you and used you as a lab rat and made you kill other kids in an arena and completely ruined your life but no I won't admit it's a mistake CUZ I H8 U."

I'm also pretty amazed she didn't come out of it a totally mindless husk of a woman. I mean, it would've absolutely destroyed a lesser mind.

(actually replaying ME 1 to ignore the LI's there and keep myself for Jack and Jack alone, I'm sure this will only get better in ME 3)

I loved Jack. Beginning to end, soft or b****y. Her swearing, her hair, her tattoos and her nudity all suited her. I even commented on how her own comfort in her body made the nudity a non-issue. Her tattoos are her clothing.

And I'm a female. A married one, with kids.

Unfortunately I think Jack gets judged solely on her appearance. (Which I do not mind at all), but some people, (a lot of people) do not find bald women attractive. I really hope they keep Jack involved in a major way in ME3. She is by far my favorite character/squad mate.

Yeah, I started ME2 with the intention of not having any LI's and staying true to Liara. That plan was thrown right out the window when my Shep met Jack.

JACK FTW!

It would suck if she got a cameo like Liara and Ashley did in this game.

From what I've heard, Liara, Ashley, and Kaiden only had minor roles in the game to encourage people to cheat on them to make things more interesting in ME3.

The LIs are supposed to be way bigger in ME3, so Jack will be in it just because she was a possible LI.

Her romance scene with Shep was the best in my eyes. Heartwarming and satisfying. You genuinely feel sorry for her.

What makes Jack so compelling for me personally is how she ties in to a lot of the themes of the gamesIt goes back to what Mordin was saying about his nephew and how hard it was to contemplate the galaxy, let alone save it.  Which is why he used his nephew to serve as an example of the best and brightest the galaxy had to offer and made him fight that much harder.  He can't anthropomorphize the galaxy, but he can look forward to seeing his favorite nephew again.

Jack serves the same purpose for Shepard in a way no sidequest could hope to fulfill, should the player decide it to be so.  When we first meet her, Jack is indicative of most of the things a Paragon Shepard would try to stop, both in her demeanor and in her past.  Both man's inhumanity to man and the callous winds of an essentially Chaotic Neutral fate.  And weaving your way past her layers of defense mechanisms can create a sense of the good you're doing on a miniature scale.  You can't anthropomorphize the galaxy, but you can show essential human decency to a poor girl whom the universe wadded up and threw away.

Or, inversely, you can harden her up and confirm her notions that life is cold and cruel and full of people who want to use you.  The genius here is that she can develop either way.  I think the reason BioWare tried so hard to sell us on her (leading to the fans turning on her like hungry dogs) is because she is going to be the major indicator of the choices you make throughout the rest of the series.  Which is why all the hate (which I understand, even if I don't condone it) seems like calling the game at halftime.  She's not done developing yet.

So yeah.  Bumped and signed... And this is my first post on this forum, sorry if I broke any rules I wasn't supposed to.

Haven't tried romancing her, yet, but I really like what I've seen of her content so far.

Hey just popped in to show Jack some love... I found her character very enjoyable, often I would "Aww" and laugh at the same time while I watched her and Sheps romance unfold because it was nice and caring but at the same time her reactions were entertaining to watch as she wasn't used to having someone actually care instead of use her...

"Talk to me, Jack."

"Get the **** out!"

But... I want to be friends :(

Jack is a great character. I love how you really feel like you get to know her, and the way she opens up little by little, but I hoped I could have a little more options. You are inevitably forced into the LI path if you talk to her. I know it's not in her character to accept friendship, but I can't understand why should Shepard be "acting interested" when all he's doing is talking.

So uhm a great character who definitely deserved some more dialogue lines.

Jack was one of the characters I thought I was going to hate the most, but I ended up liking/enjoying her WAY more than most of the others. Something about her reminds me of Natalie Portman in V for Vendetta

I was all set to hate her for being too edgy, too. But actually she's a pretty well-written character. Unfortunately, she's in the same game as Tali, so she's kind of got a glass ceiling to contend with.

To be fair, this is a problem with almost any LI character. It's just a lot more extreme for Jack, who doesn't handle rejection well. (And the dialogue option at the key juncture is a little misleading.)
