Hi all devoted Jack fans!

I have a question, don't know if you've discussed this, but did your expectations of Jack before the game differ from what you thought of her after finishing?

I was expecting a much more confident woman with a soft side you had to work hard to reveal, I wasn't really prepared for her to be so fragile. To be fair I had pretty much only watched her trailer and read her info on the homepage, but I was surprised nevertheless. They did a really good job in making her story emotionally engaging, even for me who didn't romance her.

I would really like to see more of her in ME3.

I knew I'd like her before the game launched, only because I'm attracted to that kinda girl. After playing the game I liked her even more, cause she was not a stereotype, and she was so well written. A lot of depth, and pretty to boot.

Well, aesthetically I loved her the second I saw her. Probably different to alot of people in that regard. But I wasn't a fan of her personality going from her reveal trailer. Bioware tends to have one overly blood-thirsty 'badass' in each game that I usually end up not liking so much (Wrex, Grunt, Canderous, Black Whirlwind all fit this) so I was expecting Jack to be that this time. And for the first playthrough, she was to a degree. But after a few playthroughs, including one romance, she's really grown on me. And I still love the tattoos. :D

I wasn't planning on getting that DLC anytime soon... and now I never will. "Dem eyes" should never be covered.

I wasn't sure what to think of Jack when they revealed her character, but she was certainly interesting (I have a thing for broken and/or complex characters. Probably the writer/poet in me). And my curiosity only increased as I progressed through the game, with her quickly becoming one of my favorite characters.

The only downturn was that there's no friend zone with Jack; it's all or nothing, which makes me sad. 'Course my secondary playthroughs always romance her, however they'll never see a conclusion, and my 'canon' playthrough will never have her and Shepard be friends. :crying:

Hello again.

With a BobbytheI's very kind help, I've made a little zip of Jack sound bites, which you can find here.

Jack Speaks

I hope I'm not doing anything terrible that Bioware would disapprove of.  If I am and they let me know, I will of course remove the file and the link.  I think it's an alright thing to do though.

I expect quite a few of you have these already but hope it's amusing to some of you. ^^

Best wishes

Tara

If we were getting that reputation, wouldn't we be getting more trolls, though, Bobby?

I'd like to think we've been even and have had nice things to say about the other characters... Save the one.

I tend to be a little harsh on other female LI's because I get annoyed by all the people who rip on Jack and say "ZOMG [insert female LI] IS SO MUCH BETTER!" I guess I'm just a bit defense towards all the ignorant Jack hate. But I really don't dislike all the other LI's, except maybe Miranda Posted Image, because she acts like miss queen bee so often.

I dunno, a lot of new people who post to this thread seem sorta nervous at first, like, "Well, I like Jack... BUT I LIKE TALI TOO!  I'M SORRY!  DON'T HIT!  DON'T HIT!"  Like we're not going to accept them because they DARE to find another character just as interesting or fun as Jack.  Maybe newbies in the other character support threads do this too, I dunno, but it's just something I noticed.

I bet most people say that when posting in a fan thread about liking another character. I don't think it's just that way here.

Well, the world of 80's sci-fi is just too old-school for a cool looking spaceship interior... in those days it was all good old fashioned post-nuke armageddon hijinks - only with 80% more mutants, at least 15% added cyborg killing machines and 100% less convincing makeup. Sooooo, there was only one place I could take her to try out the new outfit; a deserted laboratory - would only have been better if it was underground! ;)

So, here's a couple of shots of Jack - All Cyberpunk'd

The moment I saw her first video I was sure I would hate her, but then I played the game and the more I talked to her and the more I read about her romance I started to really like her. And now after beating the game many times she has become my favorite character.

I didn't think much of Jack at all until I watched her nervously handling the detonator after her loyalty mission. The worried look on her face at that moment told me that there was WAY more to her than just "I'm an angry ****."

(Thanks, Adriano.)

I'd just like to add Garrus's armour looks great, while Thane... erm... I can't make my mind up whether he's trying to dress like a pimp, or look like the keyboard player in an 80's glam band (keyboard players were always the restrained ones, them and the bassists... now they're the most nutty... how times change).

I think the moment of transition was when I had a keyboard player's ****** spat over me at a gig. Yes, spat. True story...

Let's just say 90% of the audience at that gig were male and had gone to see the band because of lurid tales of their stage show, which involved a lot of... well... nudity. And inserting of various things into various... things. You get the drift. Wholesome satanic rock for all the family :D

I'd put a link up, but they'd close the thread ;)

She wasn't physically attractive to me (She was almost cute facially, hated her original costume), but after Miranda defended Cerberus' actions on her, I had to let my growing resentment for the organisation show. Thats when I really thought she was the one who needed me the most, just for someone to hold her and say, "it will be ok" when she survived the mission I was happy as it gets.

I ended up trusting her, and that is why she and Garrus accompanied me to the final mission, I trust him after our history and she was one bad mutha on the battlefield.

On her initial announcement I thought I hated her, but after her character really showed through I knew Bioware could really make amazing characters, better than anything they've done before.

I had exactly the same reaction. One of the seldom moments you get to see the real Jack, during missions anyway.

So true. It was really jarring to see Jack so... vulnerable. At least for me. She'd been showing vulnerability throughout the mission, but this was the first time she didn't try to mask it or get over it quickly. I always wondered what was racing through her head right then.

The expression on her face made me think about what she said during the mission. That she was a powerful ****, but how that place made her a scared little girl again. Or something like that, I don't remember it literally. Anyway, that's exactly what I saw while she was nervously playing with the detonator. A frightened little girl. Vulnerable, like you say. Maybe even seeking for approval somehow, that she is doing the right thing by blowing it all up.

Have you guys ever thought of starting a group on the forums for in-game but off-topic discussions for Jackolytes who don't wish to throw this thread off of Jack? I'm not dissing anyone here I just sort of came into the idea reading the last few posts. Hell you can call the group "Subject Zero" it would be sort of fitting. :)

This moment was the turning point for me. She was very slowly winning me over up until then, like when she thanks you for letting her look at the cerberus files and when you agree to take her to the Teltin facility and of course when she shows signs of vulnerability and fear during her loyalty mission. But when I first saw her with that look on her face that is a mix of vulnerability, sadness, and fear, I knew there was so much more to this girl and I gained this huge desire to help her and show her that there are genuinely nice people out there.
