I don't think Patrick would mind. He has a sense of humor.

Do all of the characters have their own writers, then? If not, how is it determined which ones do. or don't, deserve their own writers?

So Patrick Weekes is the writer for Jack? Good to know. He still with BW? 'Cause I've been hearing rumors.

From what I've read (although I might be confusing this with Dragon Age), each writer worked on several characters, although some involved collaboration.

So which is truly sadder; a chunky dude cosplaying as Jack...

I said this in another thread, and thought I'd do so again here.

Said 'chunky dude' is Patrick, Jack's writer. He posted that image on his blog months before ME 2 came out.

I was sort of sad how no one seemed to know the character's creator.

You have a couple of kids, you can play the chunky card on anyone. Can I haz figure back plx? ;)

Seriously though, I can understand the sense of disappointment, but hey, not all of us read dev blogs (in fact I barely read any blogs anymore - just don't have the bloody time!)... and if he wants a compliment, well, I did defend him without prior knowledge, and now I know a guy wrote her, I guess he must be a chick magnet too, as his depiction of a complex, troubled woman had me convinced a gal was responsible. Kudos to him, and a hug for your good self for sharing said knowledge with us ^_^

Sooooo, guess that means we can all laugh ourselves giddy every time someone tries to use that pic to taunt us, because they're obviously slightly more ignorant that we were! Plus we never made our own love toys. +1 moral highground to the Jackolytes :D

And I completely agree. I'm surprised to know that it's a picture of Jack's writer, but at the same time I have to give the guy kudos for having the cajones to dress up like her. I'm sure he probably guessed that the picture might get onto the intrawebz at some point. He doesn't seem like the kind of person, though, to put much stock in caring about that.

So yeah, if someone tries to play the "Jack fans are sick and disgusting, and here's the pic to prove it" card, we can basically just reply with "Actually, that's the guy who wrote Jack's lines, and he's got a bigger quad than any Talimancer/Miridian/etc. for actually letting that pic be taken".

Lmfao really? Sorry Jack's writer! I was uh... kidding, ya! You look rather... interesting?.... Please don't leave!

P.S. You did an amazing job with Jack. Best video game character ever, and I do really mean that. Posted Image

@Mondo

Nice screenshots, I really like that one from the cutscene after the final mission.

I wanted to get a playthrough of the final mission where I could get a grab of Shep reaching for Jack's hand as she slid down the platform. Well... eleven runs later, with three different Sheps (in case it might alter probability)... I have one shot of him grabbing for Tali. And I could have had one of Legion. And two of Thane. And two of Grunt. And one of Garrus. And three of Jacob. And one of Samara. Jack and her bloody stable legs... that and her refusing to be a drama queen for me. And yes, I tried picking her second and first. On the plus side I've got a lot of shots of Reapers, the Reapernator, Miranda looking gormless, and general **** blowing up.

I've officially given up for a bit :D

Oh, and I made the cruelest Motivational ever, though I daren't post it for fear of folk calling out a hit on me. All I'll say I showed to to one of my buds and the response was "That's ****ing harsh, *****." I'll sit on it for now, I might share here, but not in the main thread for it... it'd be like plugging in the Thread-WOPR... mutually-assured-destruction and an almost certain threadlock.

Let's just say its title was 'Virginity' and leave it at that...

It's not my Shepard, but here's one.  Grunt ALWAYS seems to fall off, so don't bother bringing him for the final battle if you want a picture of someone else.

Now that would be a great screenshot. For me, the person who Shepard grabs for is always the person I pick first. Usually I pick Jack first and then Legion to go after the reapernator, and I always end up grabbing for her. Last time I beat the game I picked Jack first and Grunt second, and I still grabbed for her. I don't know how it didn't work for you, that's strange...

Sweet, thanks too, but I was trying to get it just before hands meet - that tantalizing whisper of air between hands. I'll keep trying. Tomorrow maybe anyways :D

Do you know to put the person you want to slide off in the "second" squad position?  Choose whoever else you want to bring for the final fight first, and Jack second.

At the very end I always have Jack with me and always keep my fingers crossed for the best cut scenes with her in them.

One time I was lucky and brought her and Thane for the final fight. For both the arm grab scene and the scene where you get pulled up it was Jack. I was pretty amazed she was involved in both, but cool none the less.

Had one save too where Zaeed died, (Damn me being paragade in a run through forcing me to not get zaeed's loyalty mission done his way) and at the end it was just Shepard and Jack running back to the ship, pretty cool as well.

Oh come on, Mondo. You know you can't type out something like that and then just leave us hanging. If nothing else, throw up a link without actually posting the pic in the thread. ;)

Mondo, I like it. To be fair, that's what I've always thought of Tali though - same with Liara. They allow people to get in touch with their inner James T. Kirk too. Personally, I've never been an original Star Trek fan, heh.

Ah.. I know him by name only. Nice guy, judging by what I've seen of him on the forums.

It's a good thing I read the stuff that's posted while I've been AFK from latest to earliest.  I was spared the horror of speculating who the heck the guy dressed as Jack was.  Still a bit disturbing, but I applaud his self-confidence and lack of concern about what folks think.  And kudos for his writing of the character, of course.

I actually cringed when the picture for "Virginity" loaded.  Funny though.  And what a piece of flamebait that would be in the Tali thread.  I feel bad (since I don't mind Tali herself) for adding my vote to posting it in the thread, but from everything I know, too many people in that corner of the forums take themselves way too seriously.

And my new Vanguard just hit the romance-lock-in conversation with Jack last night (second time overall).  My word, but she's cute when she's flustered.   Of course, I daresay she'd kill (or at least horribly maim) anyone who pointed that out to her face.  :pinched:

Finally, I have to thank the folks who pointed out the camera work during the Murtock story; gave me a whole new perspective on the scene when I watched it again.  She must really be the dev's favorite character;  I'm not seeing anyone else get that kind of attention lavished on their scenes, LI or not.

When you sit back and think about all the little details concerning Jack and her place in the game, how she's manifested, the level of detail for this one single character is just astounding. We've talked about the quality of her voice acting, how she moves within that small space and how dynamic it is compared to other characters, the detail in her body (tattoos, eyes, lips, etc.), the cinematography of her scenes, the flexibility of her romance with Shepard, her appeal across both genders, and so many other little things that I can't even remember. And, every few days, we're lucky enough to have someone come in and point out something new that we never quite noticed before that brings even more appreciation for this fantastic character.

On top of that, this group of fans has grown slowly but also in an "organic" manner. Jack is an acquired taste that you have to come to enjoy on your own terms. It's amazing how many people who like her have said they never thought they would. They've grown into their opinion of her. They took the chance to nurture a curiosity for this thorny rose, and they've seen her blossom. (Now I just feel cheesy.)
