She's pretty damn awesome, unfortunately a lot of her personality remains blocked if you play a FemShep . Didn't much understand why she wasn't an LI actually, considering she pretty explicitly states she's slept with girls before, but I digress.



So was anyone else surprised that, if she's the biotic during the Suicide Mission, she actually refers to you as "Commander?"

She is the deepest and most cultivated of the squad personalities. If done right she comes full circle from pain,loss,trauma, acceptance, and then redemption. Whoever created her character sure did their homework, and put a lot of thought into her personality. Not to mention the voice actress pegged her dead on. I can't wait to see her grow further in ME3.

Well, I picked Jack as a paragon LI after punting on Miranda and Tali; she was the most compelling of the three IMO.



I haven't experienced the complete arc of her story since I'm just now about to do the IFF mission.



Dunno if she'll return in the final installment of the ME trilogy, but I'll be disappointed if she doesn't.

Yeah, I'll admit playing through as my Femme-Shep I was disappointed by the lack of ability to start a big sis/lil' sis friendship with Jack. However any attempt at dialogue is taken as a pass from a female Shepard, kinda a missed chance for something equally uplifting without getting to scissoring *ahem*

I was though pleased that she just wasn't into Femme-Shep that way. When I first saw the teaser trails for the character I took one look at her and said to myself Oh Christ, I'll bet a tenner she's bi. Ok, she has been, but Shep isn't her thing, so my bet was semi-safe. I think if she had been a male and female love interest it would have pushed her closer to that bisexual-bad-grrrl stereotype. Bioware made a good move there, it's only a shame that it truncates her dialogue so... maybe if there'd been more of a hint she respected Shepard beyond a snarky "I don't wanna play."

Ah well, all the characters have a missed opportunity or two in them, development-wise, but I guess there's only so much of the proverbial "awsome" you can get into one game. Jack had more than her fair share... I mean, all Wrex got was his Conan-Throne

I was wooing Miranda but that came to a halt when I fell for Jack.
For me it really happened during her loyalty mission, a tribute to the quality of writing and production in the game. Going through that place and getting a feel for what happened to her and why she's the ways she is, getting a few glimpses though cracks in her emotional armour to the hurt person inside, made her a much more compelling character to me as a player and a better match for my Shepard.

I gotta say, I was so bummed by that too.

Not because I just wanted to romance her (well... I did, but that's besides the point) but because if you do not romance Jack, you only get to see one side of her. Bummed me out, because I just never play as Male Shep but at the same time I really am interested in seeing Jack's vulnerable side.

I was in the same boat.  I do have the PC version, so I managed to hack the game and get a FemShep/Jack romance.  It was grand.

I'm on my third playthrough and I can not seem to leave Jack on the Normandy.

I love her commentary on the different missions, in and out of battle.

I feel that she is one of the best characters, and that's not because she is the most loved, but for the facts that her looks are well crafted whether you like them or not, and she has a multi-dimensional personality. She's nowhere near as bad as some wanted to make her out to be, and some just seem easily intimidated by her and don't understand it.



It's just a shame it's hard to access a lot of what she has to say, and a little too easy to make her hate you, or maybe that supports my previous statements lol.

Yeah that's what I love about Jack to.  At first you think wow, shes pissed.  Then slowly but surely you can tell she's opening up more and more, progressively expanding as a character.  That's what I find so great about Jack, her character depth is awesome.  You actually feel like your getting somewhere when talking with her mulitple times.  It's much more of a rewarding person to talk to than many others on the Normandy.

You know Jack's character seemed less like a "Bad Girl" and more like a "Dumb teenager with excessive angst.." She's like that girl captain save a hoe trys to save from herself but can't because she's just playing games with his mind because she wants to wax his brother.

one of my favorite characters but they went all PC and PG13 by forcing monogamy into her psychology. i've known (and known) chicks like that and for them sex is a buffer zone. it is actually more difficult for people with her psyche profile to open up without sex leading the way because if (when) it gets too intimate and scary they can dismiss it as nothing more than physical. without sex, it can only be love and trust, and they're not getting anywhere near that without testing your intentions beyond some initial Q&A sessions.

That's what is great about her. She's not like every other LI who falls madly in love you with right off the bat. She tries to push you away but if you keep talking to her she'll eventually confide in you and show her emotional side. And without prior knowledge, it's not clear if you can have a romantic relationship with her by the way she tries to push you away. And it makes you feel so great when she trusts you, like you've helped her. She is definitely the most complex, deepest, and well thought out character. Her voice actress is absolutely flawlesss, her voice fits Jack perfectly. All her lines, her attitude, her looks, everything about her was just perfectly crafted.

What always strikes me about Jack's personality is the contrast between her immature/insecure side and that bluntly honest side of her that's experienced things beyond what other could imagine. Since she never had a childhood, she's living in a state of suspended youth. However, Jack was forced in to maturing quickly and had to learn how to look out for herself. Because of this, I think she's the type of person that may know what she wants from others, but doesn't know how to express it properly.

I thought Jack was the most interesting LI in the game, by far. She was emotionally engaging, funny, and a bad ass all in one. Miranda may be the best looking, but I found her boorish. Tali - while cute, will always be the sister figure for my character.



Plus, when the s* hits the fan in ME3 with Ashley, I think Jack may be the only one who can save me



I just wish Jack wasn't a Vanguard. As a Vanguard myself, I never got to use her on missions, except on the loyalty jaunt. Don't need two characters with Pull and Shockwave...

Ya I'm amazed how much depth she has. BioWare really put a lot of work into her and they did a great job. After having a romance with her it feels like every other LI is shallow.

You know, sometimes I get depressed that this thread isn't as popular and doesn't get as many posts as the ones for other characters.  But then I remember what goes on in those other threads and I shuddered.  Could you imagine this thread full of people gushing over their lovey-dubby Jacky-wacky?  Writing fanfics and drawing pictures of her with little pink floating hearts?  Lusting after her bountiful melons or well-proportioned back porch?  Thinking about what her and Shepard's wedding will be like and where they'll end up settling down after the last fight is over?



It's no offense to those other fanbases (I'll admit that I probably like the Tali romance path about as much as Jack's), but a Jack romance, to me, is the one that makes the most sense for somebody like Shepard.  Shepard doesn't live the kind of life where he can have the luxury of planning for old age.  He's already died once, and with all the dangers he faces in his life, who's to say he isn't going to again?

As is said during the last conversation between the two of them, there's a good chance, considering the lives they lead, that Jack will die, or Shepard will die, or both.  Or something else will happen that will end up separating the two.  Yeah, we all know it's a game, and that Shepard is most likely going to make it through all the way to the climax of ME3, if not after.  And we know that even if Jack gets taken down in battle, a nice rubdown with medi-gel will perk her right back up.  But within the reality of the world they live in, Shepard and Jack get no guarantees.

So in the meantime, they're going to enjoy what time they have together, knowing that each day together could very well be their last.  It's a nice thing to imagine Shepard and his love interest stepping away from the battle and having a lifetime of peace, but that ain't the Shepard I'm playing.  To me, and I apologize for bringing back bad memories for you all, but the Shepard I know is like Admiral Ahern up in Pinnacle Station.  Yeah, he's got a retirement place all set to go... but there's still work to do.  As long as he's still got some fight left in him, Shepard's going to do his part, and he probably isn't going to go out some old codger wasting away in a hospital bed, but in a blaze of glory, taking out as many of the enemy as he can, and giving his life for the mission.

And if I know Jack, she'll be right beside him, cursing out the S.O.B.s while popping off another heatsink.  And maybe she doesn't get as many fans or three long threads of loving posts with an attitude like that, but I wouldn't have her any other way.

Jack is actually pretty cool character. One of the only non-insipid crew members. They gave her a curious personality and history. While some of the other members are too casual... Like Jacob, Garrus, Miranda.



I definitely support Jack as squadmate for ME3

Well my LI was Liara everytime in ME1 so it will be interesting when the  two super biotics fighting over him...hmmm Shep sure does have the life.

Well most people are shallow and judgemental and go straight for Miranda, which is obvious and I think BioWare knew that would happen. The way she acts in the beginning is supposed to put people off from her, that's what makes her different and that's just how she is. And since players have to pick between Jack and Miranda during that fight, it's obvious most people will pick Miranda and unless they get 100% paragon or renegade then they won't be able to talk to Jack and learn more about her, so they don't know just how much depth she has.

The people that are really into Miranda like her because of her looks only. The people that are into Jack like her because she has depth, not just because they find her attractive. And that Miranda thread is full of a bunch of spam. The people that post in that thread treat it like an offtopic chatroom. Miranda's name hardly even pops up in that thread.
