I hope so. I really want a happy ending with Jack. I'm sure there are some interesting ideas about her going off on her own, but I'd much prefer that she stay with Shepard throughout all of ME3 (as long as you don't make any wrong decisions). I don't see any reason why she would leave in ME3 if you romanced her in ME2. And I don't see why their relationship couldn't work out. It may seem generic, but I hope Shepard and Jack can live happily ever after in the end Posted Image.

Indeed. Also, I don't see why we have to talk of this in terms of there being one definitive ending - given that "choice" is supposedly such a big part of this series, it would make sense for there to be multiple paths/outcomes depending on what you do or don't do. And it would make sense for there to be at least the possibility for a proper happy conclusion, though they could perhaps make it difficult to get.

I think my favourite example of this is probably Neverwinter Nights 2 - it had a "perfect" ending if you played it right (which I happened to get, but I have to say it wasn't terribly hard), but there was also a range of less rosy outcomes (for your companions' individual stories as well as the overall game plot) depending on how good or evil you were, or what you got right versus what you screwed up. I'm confident that they'll be able to pull off something like this in ME3.

I heard that Kasumi has something to say about each of the LIs.  Anyone know what Kasumi says about Jack?

Just to go back to this, Bobby's posted all the dialogue Kasumi blurts out thus far about love interests in this thread, and well, she redeems herself a bit with Jack in my eyes - she wasn't just being a bit of a cow. Seems there's a lot more to go through with her and her conversations evolves... reason to go back and see her more I guess. I like the crack about turning down her biotics a bit next time the two of you do the wild mambo ;)

"You might want to dial down Jack's biotic implants before you hook up with her again. I doubt Cerberus could afford to build another Normandy."

"I heard that you and Jack shared a... moment. She seemed genuinely touched. She's a complicated woman. I'm really happy she's found someone who can understand her."

Awwww ^_^

With all this talk about how BW will treat Jack in an expansion or in ME3, I decided to go over and see what all the talk was about concerning Liara in her fan thread with regard to the comic. Wow! There are some really upset people over there. Some are pissed about the writing, some are pissed about what it might mean for the character, and still others are pissed because they feel like everyone is overanalyzing what the comic did (or did not) say. In any case, it's left a rather sour taste in the mouths of those people, at least for now. I feel truly sad for them because I wouldn't want to have something like that dropped on this group or really any fan group. Not because their preconceived notions of the Liara character are broken but rather because no one's really sure (with maybe a few exceptions) of exactly which notions were actually true. And who do they blame for it? Themselves? Bioware? The author of the comic?

I love coming to this thread and see the discussions and ideas and possibilities that we all come up with. However, after looking at what just happened to the Liara fans, I worry that some of us (myself included) might get our hopes up just a bit too high for Jack.

I picture...

Shepard and Jack in the foreground, kneeling behind some cover.  They're in the middle of a kiss.

In the background, is total destruction - twisted metal, obliterated concrete, mercenaries from all the companies laying about on the ground, slumped over torn-apart support-structures, some hanging from the walls, their upper-torsos having comically gone straight through the walls.  In the midst of it all, in the distance, we can see one mercenary, alive, peeking over what used to be his cover, a knee-high wall of concrete that's been damaged along the top, making it look like some ravenous creature took bites along its top.  Bits of exposed, gnarled rebar jut from it.  The mercenary has a surprised expression on its face.   Maybe it's the very same Salarian Eclipse merc that gives the :o expression, the one pictured in adriano's forum avatar.

Just something cute (relative to Jack, of course) I thought up.

I think some of the Liara fanbase are jumping the gun a little... I mean, it's pretty much a given that Ash, Kaidan and Lirara are going to step up to a more significant role (plot-wise) in the third episode. The story has a kind of over-logic that everything fits into, just because something doesn't happen right off bat doesn't mean it won't.

Hopes are fine to have, but some of the complaints leveled at some aspects of the game universe and ongoing storyline are a little, well, petulant for no good reason. It'll all come out in the wash, for good or ill. Liara however is a safe bet for furure significance I'd say.

Destructo-kiss FTW ^_^

Actually, I now see a way to defeat the Reapers... someone get Shepard a can of viagra and a crate of protein shakes! :D

lol and the 2nd squadmate just stands there awkwardly! Good idea though. It would be nice to see something like this from Jack during a mission. She is always "down to business" during missions, probably because the writers couldn't have seperate dialogue for those who romanced her. Posted Image

I think Kasumi's line pretty much sums up Jack perfectly: she's a complicated woman, and we here, in this thread, are the folks that understand her.

Haha.  Well, I meant to imply that the kiss happened after, and because they were both so turned on by the destruction, or at least Jack was, and thus maybe she stole a kiss from Shepard, but a destructo-kiss works well, too.

I don't doubt that at all. I think what struck me more was that a lot of the Liara fans that are complaining are more concerned about how the romance with Shepard will play out. They were hoping for something to "come out in the wash", as you said, with the comic... and now a lot of them feel like nothing was really discovered and, in some ways, they're left with even more questions left to be answered.

I don't doubt that every character in the series will have certain things about them that the fans will feel somewhat disappointed for not being talked more about. In Jack's instance, I honestly don't think Bioware will ever go into depth about the nature of all her tattoos, exactly how many prisons she's been in, or even exactly how old she is. I think there's a chance that they may discuss some other topics such as her origin, parents, any potential family or as-of-yet-unknown ties that we haven't really heard about yet, but even those are not super likely (in my mind) to come out. And I can deal with that because I know that Bioware can only do so much with the time they're given to create the next game. However, I find it a bit of a disservice in the case of Liara for Bioware to act like they're throwing the fans a bone and when it appears that most of them see it as more of a bait-and-switch.

Now, I admit that I haven't read the comic myself, and my knowledge of what happens in it is almost completely based off of york's brief synopsis of it. However, even from that synopsis, it doesn't seem like Liara's plot was really advanced all that much.

True. He also seemed to neglect to say exactly who would end up experiencing said painful side effects. Maybe there's a sort of "eye of the hurricane", and Shepard gets lucky (lol) and finds himself in the calm while all around, **** get's tore up.

Today's been really fun, huh?  I had no idea what sort of fecal matter I'd be stirring when I posted those Kasumi quotes.  I have to resist the urge to gawk at all of the ME1 LI fans going insane.  Today, for one brief shining moment, the Tali fans weren't the most crazy. :P

Honestly, though... I wonder how we'd have reacted if every ME2 LI had been acknowledged by Kasumi except Jack.  I might have gotten a little anxious, to be honest.

I'm going to pitch this Jack & Shepard idea for a scene at an artist, and see what happens. If it's not expensive, I might see how it would work out.

I really just wish they would actually install an option on these forums so that you could selectively ignore individual people that you just get sick of hearing/reading as they spew more BS. I'd be slapping that button everytime I saw some idiot spam their Bazaar link.

Oh, and thanks Mondo! I'd totally forgotten about that little snippet of yours.

Sure isn't a happy day to be a ME1 LI fan...given the Liara comic and to a lesser extent Ashley/Kaidan since Kasumi apparently makes no mention of them at all, yet will mention of all things Morinth and Kelly.  I particularly found her comments on Jacob to be funny.

I'm being more cautiously optimistic about what they plan to do with Jack.

Though it kind of pains me to say it, this is ultimately BW story, they are going to do what they want. If that means killing characters off, (including Shepard), then that is what they will do.

What sucks, is Jack is the first video game character I ever connected with, I have connected with book characters before, but this is a video game first. So ya, I'll be a little upset.

Another point is so far the things BW has listened to the community on have no real bearing on the story. So it will not be surprising to see them kill off characters we love for sake of story.

Sorry about being a little depressing, that's what I think.

P.S. Typing all this on my touch screen phone was a real pain.:)

I agree. While it would be really nice to have an extensive elaboration of Jack's past, I don't expect BioWare to go into such significant detail about everything concerning her life before she met Shepard. I do expect some more information about her origin in general. She could briefly elaborate on specific things about her past if something relevant to it pops up.

BioWare has a lot on their plate. They have twelve squadmates to work on, not counting ME1 only squadmates if they come back in ME3. I hope they didn't dig themself too deep in a hole by introducing so many new characters. I don't think Zaeed or Kasumi should be in ME3, or at most just as a very brief cameo, so that they can lighten the load for ME3 and focus on squadmates that we can get to know better and can form relationships with.

I dunno, personally I'm a little ambivalent on whether or not Jack's backstory should come out. I kinda get upset when a story shoehorns in a ton if exposition for just one character, because that's basically waiting out the clock, making the story arbitrarily longer. If Jack point-blank told me that her past wasn't any of her Goddamned business, I'd accept it and move on.

I'm more concerned with what happens next, as opposed to what already happened off-screen which, if it was really important, would be in the game already. What happens next would be much, much harder to screw up, as Jack is so defined and yet her motivations are in a state of change.
