We're more hot and bothered when you're here, Uncle Royce :D

Ohboy is my other half in trouble tonight ;)

Glad to help.

I've just realized that with Kasumi out now, I'm gonna have to replay my two MainSheps and six MiniSheps to factor her in. I think I'll work on Frank (who has the Jack romance) next.  That one usually makes me feel better.

But going back to up at the top of the page, concerning FemShep's apparent lack of bonding and MaleShep's inability to just be friends with her, it's never really presented a problem with me.  She actually gives you outs.

-For FemSheps, she gives you the girl's club speech after you've proven your loyalty.  She tells you it's a good place to stop, and given her screaming fit if you try to talk to her again, I wholeheartedly agree.

-For MaleSheps, it's the Dumbsh*t Love Affair option, where you can point-blank tell her you're not interested, and furthermore that you'll be upstairs and not bugging her.  And this is the point where I stop talking to her if I'm romancing someone else.

I can see that it's frustrating, but even with her limited non-romantic dialogue options she gets one more NR conversation than Tali, and a full THREE more than Garrus.  Jack is so well-written that she comes off as a real person and if she says she doesn't want to talk, I won't talk to her.  If I tell her that I respect what she tells me she wants, I won't bug her anymore.

To me, it's all about backing off and providing space, giving her the tools she needs to fix herself and not interfering (in a Starfleet Prime Directive sort of way).  But then there's a romantic entanglement but in a way, that's entirely up to her.  You've still given her the tools to fix herself, and part of that is meaning something to someone else.  She's a smart, independent girl and doesn't need us for a crutch.  And given she's so well-written, I can say that about a video game character and not come off as a raving loon.

I already uploaded this drawing to the "Zero Tolerance" group...but I'm a textbook-example of the average attention-seeking egomaniac.

So sue me.

You do have a point... I guess Dragon Age (for all its faults, grrrrr...) has spoiled us a little, and now we're expecting to have our companions jabber on about more or less everything. It would be nice to be able to tell her that we'll be there if she needs us (from a Femme-Shep's perspective at least).

And yes, she is that well-written. She's more like a character from a book than one from a videogame. Bioware have spoiled us a bit :D

Oh, and Royce, I'll leave you in charge of this... if anyone gets too far off topic or we go totally silly, I'll trust you to use this well (I'm fully blaming hormones tonight - next week I'll be crying at everything, mark my words):

And Grape, that pic is really damn fine - for something with such a fast-looking, kinetic style it has a shedload of accuracy in the tattoos. Kudos!

This.

I think the use of the word 'respect' is particularly telling. I don't respect any of the other characters onboard the Normandy. I do respect Jack. She is confident in and unapologetic about who she is. She is the only member of the crew unprepared to adapt to the group - the group has to adapt to her.

Thanks for posting the pic, LiquidGrape.  Even if you are a textbook example of an attention-seeking egomaniac.  :D  Just kidding, of course.

I can understand the FemShep frustration in regards to Jack.  But ponder this little line of dialogue.

"I like you.  That's a good place to stop."

Not only is a begrudging admission of what you mean to her a HUUUUUUGE step forward (for which you, as a FemShep, are responsible), but it's more of a verbal recognition of your place in her life than MaleSheps get.  It's not something as deep as a romance, but at least you don't walk away empty-handed.  Hell, MaleSheps get called Weird for their trouble.  But a FemShep doesn't have to tell her that they'll be there for her.  Jack already knows.

Thank you for the motivator.  If my usual tactic of going back a page and writing a few paragraphs on it doesn't work bringing the thread back from the edge, I will use it without hesitation.

Hey Jack fans, do you guys think that in the Jack romance scene that she and Shepard actually do it? I am just curious and I recently finished the romance with her, and after seeing the scene it almost seemed as if they didnt by the end of it. Just curious.

Lots of speculation for this... I say it doesn't matter.

All down to personal interpretation. I personally like to think my Sheps that ended up with Jack didn't then but more than likely did after the Collectors were given a good kicking, but no one person's gut on these things is right or wrong in my book. You'll probably find everyone here says more or less the same - all down to you ^_^

I'm pretty sure they didn't. And it makes sense why they might not.

There was a discussion about it way back, but the fact of the matter is that Jack saw sex as a tool for people to get what they want and is wary of those who approach her with such intent. In the renegade path for example, she pretty much turns that against Shepard and ridicules him for it afterwards.

Even after romancing Jack, it's not like she's completely abandoned her trust issues. She'll like Shepard, no question about that, she'll just prefer to take things slow. To me that's infinitely preferable to "let's go shag away the last couple hours before the suicide mission because we might not be alive to do it later".

I wasn't trying to be snide about it, but it really doesn't matter to me. I would assume that they did sometime during ME2, maybe after you call her up. Either way doesn't affect the story for me is what I meant.

No, I understand. My idea is that Shepard wanted to show her that their relationship was about more then just sex, especially after how she was used all the time, so it would not suprise me if they didnt do it before hitting the Omega 4 relay.

In this way, the Jack relationship is a little more ambiguous, which I think most of us see as a positive aspect. Compared to Miranda's "I cleared the engine room" scene Posted Image, there is a lot more emotion, and its clear that Shep isn't just after sex. It's really about supporting someone he cares about, someone who hasn't even had a true friend for a very long time, if ever.

Here it is. (throw a mech/husk/other in front of her, it'll make some sense) I apologise for the poor likeness, shoddy tattoos, abysmal proportions and perspective drawing. Mostly, I just wanted the basic thing done while I finish Samara. Anyway, enjoy it. Or don't, and find it hilariously bad, but either way, as long as it's in some way positive for ya all, then woo. :P

Don't be so hard on yourself, I think it's really good. Everything looks very proportional and you did a nice job with her face. Posted Image

I agree, to me Miranda just wanted a good night with Shepard. It didnt feel to me like a real relationship like Jacks.

Ya this is what I think. I don't think they had sex. You've spent all this time with Jack, talking to her and showing her that there are genuinely nice people out there. And to have sex with her once she finaly lets down her gaurd would be taking advantage of her, which is exactly what you're not trying to do. You're trying to show her that you don't want to use her and take advantage of her.

@Mondo

I really like that 'on topic' motivational. We really could've used it in the last page Posted Image.

Like what a lot of others of said, I agree that the scene wasn't sex. It was more of a show from Shepard to Jack that he is more interested in her as a person and he isn't going to just use her like the rest. And that is why I like that scene so much better.. it's much better then them just getting down and dirty.

Back in the beginning of the conversations Shep said he is willing to wait, so I think they just made out and cuddled. Just holding her, to show she is wanted and loved. Sex will come eventually, sometime btw, ME2 and ME3 I think.

Yeah, that was my impression once they show Jack and Shepard together at the end.
