Yeah I always just figured she was refering to Purgatory. Also the Blue Suns are pretty wide spread and involved in a lot of things, so if she is refering to something other than the Purgatory, it's likely it was just some random group of Blue Suns that gave her trouble.

I've always wondered how Jack ended up in Purgatory...I guess we'll never know.

Well, what are you doing over there?  It sounds like you would stick out like a sore thumb.  Are you just letting go of all of your inhibitions over there or what?:o

I like watching it.  It's like watching a train-wreck, a train-wreck that occurred because the passengers and the conductors were all monkeys throwing feces at each other.  One of the monkeys was smart enough to get the train moving, but that's where the intelligence started and ended.

Hell we have some of that on the boards here.:o

So you don't post much?  Sounds like that if you did, it would be very frustrating trying to communicate with them.

Fair enough. I just hope that some women understand that not all men have animalistic intent. I understand it's only a game but I hits pretty close to home when this topic arises.

The guy I'm arguing with would call you a "beta" male, or a male who takes what scraps are discarded by the "alpha" males.  These people have a conception of dating and courting and pretty much everything as a struggle over resources and the assertion of one's will.  It's capitalist theory and Darwinian evolutionary theory adapted to the dating world and it's pants-on-head dumb.  Infuriating to even hear, isn't it?

Anyway, this is all waaaay off topic.

Wait I never said that I was someone who scavenged on the shattered sole of a woman. I simply stated that it was not easy to sway someone like jack who has gone through some horrible crap in her life  Especially in just the few minutes we get with the character.

I post when I'm feeling angry.  I post when something hilarious and dumb (hilariously dumb) comes up.  I'm not a fan of the ignorance, because even if I try to cure it, people stick their fingers in their ears and sing real loud.

Meanwhile, on 4chan:

"Jack: **** tier in both looks and personality. Sure she has a prettier face than Ashley but I don't know what bioware was thinking when they decided that bald with ugly prison tattoos everywhere on a skinny boy body was a good look.  Personality wise shes just as bad. A mentally unstable psychopath and total **** I didn't want her on my ship much less in my bed."

Good ol' /v/.

EDIT:  Formatting.

Ah, 4chan... home of the argumentative pseudo-intellectual nerd and the creepy mother****er that trades pictures of mutilated corpses, dark-end-of-the-street hentai and webcam pics they manage to badger out of vulnerable girls. Their arguments are invalid.

Their deep critique of Jack there falls flat on its ass when I plead Black Lagoon in defense. Chances are, these same nerks would find Rev or Balilaika sexy and enticing; Rev being a psychopath, and built like a boy, and a complete b*tch (ok, she has hair, but that's neither here nor there), and Balilaika being a merciless b*tch who has third-degree burn scars across half of her body, which I would have to say is... well... a pretty fringe fetish if there ever was one, especially when compared to girls with tattoos.

Extreme anime fanboys... placed on this world to have weak arguments, internet slapping fights and fawn over suspect-looking 2D girls.

(I'd just like to add a disclaimer that not every anime fan is repugnant or weird - I happen to like some of it myself... I even have a Haruhi shirt and happen to think Balilaika is sexy, but that's to do with her being a six foot blonde with muscles, which appeals to my inner subbie ;) )

The only anime I've enjoyed watching is Full Metal Alchemist, but then again I don't watch much anime.

Addendum: Mass Effect Survivor thread if anyone is interested, make sure you don't vote for Jack since the one with the most votes at decision time is killed!  So far Jacob and Morinth are out

In round 3, Jack is not in danger. According to my calculations, in round 4 as well.

Fun Fact #247: Anime is Japanese for "Stop bathing and buy a sword."

But going back to that debate york was having about submissive beta-males and so forth... This fellow was aware that he was on the internet talking about video games, right?  I mean, that's not exactly something Don Draper would do.

And reducing the Jack romance to archetypal male responses (White Knights and Submissive P**sies) is simultaneously thinking too large and thinking too small... And I didn't even know you could do that.

We're just people, capable of withstanding mountains of psychic wear-and-tear.  We all come with more issues than Mad Magazine, and while most of us would hide them for fear of scaring someone, there's Jack, whose torment is literally written all over her body.  Helping her brings our own attitudes into sharp relief, for though we may think we've had it bad, we're not beaten down to the extent that we won't stop and help someone else who's had it worse.  It ain't an "alpha-beta" thing.  It's a "human being" thing.

Plus, dammit, I'm just a man who loves shooting mercenaries.  Now which of the three lovely ladies aboard the Normandy thinks it's as much fun as I do?  The bald chick, that's who!

I thought it was 'Stop bathing and make a sword out of cardboard'...

If I need one of those I pinch my nipper's lightsaber - kids FTW :D

Seriously though, I think Royce has it right (as per - I'm getting tired of finding intellectuals here... I'm feeling inferior ;) ) in that an awful lot of players will have turned to Jack for that very reason. I know it's why I did. She might not need a shoulder, I was just saying it was there if she wanted it.

And the eyes are a bonus for romantic souls like me.

Well, this won't sound remotely as profound as some other explanations enclosed in this thread, as to why Jack is such an alluring character; but I was initially pulled in because I'm a sucker for Sinead O'Connor.
- But Jack grew on me as a character in her own right rather quickly, so that really was just a passing first-hand attraction.

Oh, and there's that.
