Hmm... issues with posting images. What fun.
I liked the blank post. It pretty much devoted as much words to this whole argument as was warranted.
Oh, and here's an image for everybody else still responding:

"Gotchya"? That just makes you sound like a creationist 'winning' a debate.ZennExile wrote...
You mean like an onion she has layers? So that makes yer deep? Even though her tough girl layer is stretched so thin you can see through it to the other layer that is tearing through.... I guess you just think deep means 2 very thin layers close together. Gotchya.
Your questions aren't really worth answering because you attempt to load them to suit your perspective like you truly believe I think like you do and would fall for it...
Oh and your declaration of intent, to avoid people confusing you with a troll trying to defend this thread in the wrong forum from intruders that might disagree with you, is cute. But they arleady know yer a troll in sheep's clothing.
I don't believe you think like I do, I just want to hear your opinion expressed and explained.
And once again (I hate repeating myself, but you completely failed to answer my question), which character in the game had depth according to you? Seeing how you describe Jack as not having enought depth, you must be comparing her to another character. (everything is relative, if you compare her depth to living people and protagonists in books, then you're standards for npc's in videogames are a bit stretched) I just want to be 'enlightened' by you in what depth really is, so I need an example of a character with depth.
Oh and believe me, I'm not loading my questions to suit my perspective, I just want to understand yours, if they aren't worth answering, your perspective isn't worth mentioning.

You never asked that question. You told me that I think Miranda is deep and that's why I'm wrong but you never asked me a question.
Really though the only character I found that "had layers like an onion" and wasn't completely transparent was Mordin. He was the only character that didn't have transparent motives. You can tell there is more to Mordin but much of his personality comes as a shock. Like when he randomly starts singing... They really did a great job giving Mordin depth without trying to force the impression on you.
Thane was also "deep" but it felt forced. They could have explained less about Thane and he would have been a better character for the mystery of it. Like his spiritual nature or attachment to his family.
Jack is completely transparent on the opposite end of the scale. There is never a point where I wonder how she might react or I am shocked by the depth of her character. From start to finish you know exactly what you have is a stereotypical teenage girl with angst over a terrible childhood that wants everyone to think she's the victim. Her character was made even less appealing by the fact that they made her all but naked in an attempt to force appeal for an otherwise lackluster personality.

I find Jack quite intriguing as a character. Then again I've always had a thing for finding out what's under the surface of characters such as her.
Emotional armor as strong as hers is almost always hiding a fascinating internal turmoil underneath.

That's why she's transparent and the opposite of deep because she's a stereotype... Thank you for explaining it in words that aren't mine since I can't have an opinion without it being an attempt to troll someone...

Yeah, I do actually, and I have seen your posts for a while now. You are either complaining that the game isn't an RPG and a lame shooter, complaining how a certain character is poorly written or how a certain dialogue section is silly, or complaining that the main plot is weak. I have never once seen you saw a positive thing about anything Mass Effect related. What is your problem with this game? Has it hurt you personally?

Racist 12 year old trolling? That's how you intend to establish the validity of your perspective? By acting like a racist child? Interesting approach. Do you think it'll work?

Yeah, that's pretty much my favorite part about her, too. The hidden depths below the surface. One of the few romances I feel like playing through twice, just to try different things out.

Thats what makes her unique? You always had a thing for this stereotypical type of girl what has no mystery and therefor can't be deep in any way? Cause you've always had a thing for this "type" of girl? Interesting.Jackal904 wrote...

I asked the exact same question on the last page. I didn't even insinuate that you thought Miranda was deep. Maybe you're confusing me with another poster (or you're just making stuff up).ZennExile wrote...

Her character was made even less appealing by the fact that they made her all but naked in an attempt to force appeal for an otherwise lackluster personality.
Anyway, Mordin was indeed a great character, but I'll have to disagree on Thane being less transparant than Jack. He is also a very stereotypical character, the basic 'religious hitman with a family' story. However, I don't think he's a bad character, stereotypes are used in stories because we usually like them. And if one person disagrees, it doesn't matter, more will. It's not because I know what's under the onion's outer layer that it doesn't have multiple ones, it's that I know what an onion is built like.
The comparison with a stereotypical teenage girl with angst doesn't apply though, because in those cases their rage, fear and sadness is unjustified, here it actually is. She is a victim, denying that would be highly immoral or just blind of you.
And the fact that she's naked is in order for players to see her tattoo's which are a large part of the 'feel' which the writers wanted to give the character.
And now I'll just stop trying, seeing how you're mistaking subjective beauty, attraction, likability and interest, with objective facts. You're too ignorant to even being made clear that other people have the right to disagree with you. We'll just have to agree to disagree, although clearly you'll have more problems with that, than I will.
I also apologise to the other people in this thread for responding over and over if it annoyed them. I still think it wasn't a complete waste of time (had a chance to think about the characters in the game and a bit of exercice for my english). So I'll stop responding to ZennExile now, I still have other things to do.

I know, right? Breaking through the walls and getting through to the emotions within? I'm a big fan of characters like that.
