Those moments of Jack's - stepping off the shuttle on Pragia, her trepadacious and suspicious looks at Shepard when he's "wooing" her, and my favorite: when she's at the end of her confession about Murtock and asks Shepard if he's "ever seen her flinch", and a few moments later he steps closer and she flinches. Gets me every time.
Will make a point of looking out for that next time I have that conversation.
And welcome to the thread! Generally a good sign when someone's first post is that insightful. Hope you stick around=]
Indeed. Now I have to play through again. Not that it's any trouble at all. Damn if Jack ain't the gift that keeps on giving.
And if I may say, Jake, that my worries about "saving" vs. "romance" are a little less than yours. Remember that it's never about what Jack says, but what Jack means. She asks derisively if you "have feelings" for her. Being that Jack's declarative statements provide more misdirection than truth, that is her way of bald-facedly stating that she has feelings for you. Healing is a complex process, and whether or not she's ready for a textbook relationship is a question that we can't answer for her. She has to answer it for herself. If she wants to be with you and you want to be with her, I don't see as there's a real problem.
But yeah, come on by more often. Thanks for the shout-out. We'll throw something on the grill for ya.

Thank you, I just may.
I'll save you the long playthrough (unless you really wanna): - that's the Paragon version though - to get her saying it and that flinch/step back at the end of it, you have to pick the Renegade options.

Indeed she is. In my opinion, the more nuances I find, (or think I find) the more my satisfaction at having spent good money on a good game grows.

Well, Royce, as you have ably demonstrated often enough in this thread, your analysis is very likely correct. It's one of those "things" - and it very likely goes back to those nuances I was speaking of - that kinda crawls into my craw and won't go away - and one of those fecking annoyances that likes to whisper all along with me being unable to put my finger on exactly where or why it keeps suggesting itself. It may tie into that "did they or didn't they" discussion (which i think is fairly irrelevant - who cares? Relationships built solely on sex usually involve either Republicans or the exchance of cash or both - I'm more interested in these people as people, people!), and it may not. Or it could simply be my dissatisfaction that the relationship arc between them wasn't four hours like I would have liked, and it's subconsciously flitting through my echoing noggin as a 'fault' wherein none actually exists.
Or I could be insane. I've discounted none of it. <_<
Oh, one other thing - and I don't know if anyone's talked about this yet, but it's something that just occured to me, and it points again to the great work done on this character:
Despite it all, despite the rape, the murder, the slaughter, the torture and all the self-crappifying; internal torture, flaying and recriminations real or imagined - despite all the things she's lost, had taken from her or self-discarded, there is one thing Jack never gave up: hope. It's not strong and it's deeply buried, but it's there. Because no matter how mighty Big Shep's mojo is, or how silvery smooth his tongue, if Jack had lost all hope, she would have been a corpse a long bleed'n time ago, one way or another, and no one could have saved her from it.
I think it's true, and it does nothing but point to the true depth of character this character possesses.
Just me outgassing - don't worry about it.
But yeah, come on by more often. Thanks for the shout-out. We'll throw something on the grill for ya.
Thank you kindly. Provided I have something of substance to say, I shall try to be a tad more active. Otherwise, I'll just do what me mum told me and enjoy y'all until then.

It's not a "flinch" in the way you might think - more an emotional one that translated out into a moment of indecision and hesitation on Jack's part whilst struggling to figure out just WTF Shepard's up to and why he keeps at it.
For Jack, shockwaving thirty blue-clad jagoffs straight to hell is nowhere as unnerving as one man doing something as simple as (metaphorically) saying: "Believe it or not, you can have this - if you want it, on your own terms. And it's as real as it gets."
Like she said, death is easy - relationships are frigg'n hard.

I wonder what her ink looks like on her legs
I've not gone hairless about the tamer love scenes in ME2, but for the reason we only ever see half of her, I think a nude scene (tastefully done, mind you) would be worthwhile... just enough to give some tantalizing glimpses of the other scars, implant points and tattoos she must have. We've all seen how naked she looks without the ink, so it'd probably not really register as being overly naughty... Jack's body is her own illustrated biography, and I think for those reasons alone we're not "bad" people if we want to see more of her.

I know what you meant, but it just read funny. Unfortunately I think part of the reason it will never happen is the amount of work it would likely require. I can't imagine creating all of those tattoos was easy or quick... it's not like Miranda showing some skin in her scene, since that's all she has... skin. Doing Jack's legs might be as much work as her torso, if they wanted to keep the same level of detail. (And it's Bioware; they would.)
Edit: If they ever did show what she's got on her legs, I'd rather it be through an alternate outfit, and not a sex scene. It's a video game, and I've never been much of a fan of those scenes. Makes me feel weird. Which is the reason I like Jack's so much in this game, it can be interpreted so many ways because they didn't show much. (Or, if all they did was make kissy, then they did show most of it I suppose)

Didn't bother me with Jack not wearing much, mainly because she wasn't "conventional" in her attractiveness, which is why she isn't as popular...

Hehe, yes well I was trying to be a bit naughty there, wondering if anyone would notice. But really, it's not about nudity at all, it's about seeing her tattoos as a work of art. Besides, she could be wearing panties and not show anything.

- Bad sign if your choice of attire is less rational than a vinyl leotard. Or Jack's dungaree-bra.

Yes, i'd love to see all tatoos and know their meaning but on the other hand: then she would lose a bit of her "mysterious appearance".

I wonder if Jack would ever sit down with Shepard, and point out each tattoo, telling the meaning behind it. Would make for some very interesting hours together.
That would be a quite interesting thought. But i doubt that she'd do that directly and tell Shepard her life in detail, thats just not her character, imo.
But eventually she might open after a time and tell Shepard...

I think eventually she would. Not all at once, she might get a bit... antsy... but he'd get it out of her over time.scmadsen wrote...
