Very nice! That's one of my favorite pictures of her when she has her gun aimed at the Aresh guy from her loyalty mission. She looks so badass there.

Thank you.It was my first crack at a Jack pic.I think it looks great too.^_^

Perhaps a dumb question: What's Jack's ear-piece for?

I think it's just a comm unit.

I could forgive her some small amount of vanity if it turned out to be an unusual piece of jewelry.

It's definitely the best looking comm unit I've ever seen if it is one, since it looks like an extravagent piece of jewelry.

And everyone should read Stanley Woo's posts here. Stanley Woo is cracking down on offtopicness in fan threads (finally!). He's taking it pretty seriously and he is very willing to close a fan thread due to offtopicness, so stay on topic!

I think it's something along those lines... on Haestrom, when Kal'Reegar asks Shep to change comm frequencies, Jack taps her Ear-terface (my name for it now) to alter the channel. Every other character uses their omnitool to alter the comm frequency. It might be a communications-specific interface for an omnitool (omnitool display manipulation requires two hands, the Ear-terface leaves on free to fire a weapon) or it might be a suitably low-tech old-school comm unit. The fact that she was banged up with it suggests to me at least that it is attached permenantly somehow (or was innofensive enough not to be confiscated)... maybe even going so far that it actually connects to neural cybernetics somewhere inside her skull.

Jack - now with added Bluetooth ;)

I don't think there's any real risk for that in this case.
On every single occasion I've peeked inside this thread, which is fairly often considering my interest in the character, there's been a rather awe-inspiring amount of insightful commentary going on.

Welcome to Mondo's Horrible Thought for the Day.

After reading through all your thoughts on Jack wondering what happiness might be, or what being normal might be, consider this... Jack's uplifting escape story "[...] the crew used me, then sold me."

[...]

Your description of Jack staying at the Teltin facility is particularly
vivid, canyons carved in her skin, swollen eyes and all. On a technical side (since everyone has already commented on the sentimental one) this text of yours is very well written ;-)
And your description of the "wrong type of love" she was shown by the mercs is a good one.

Every time we bring this topic up, I can't but think about the Jack/Kyra character from the Riddick movies. And to what happens to her in Chronicles of Riddick.
Jack dear just stay away from spikes and Necromongers!

I wouldn't trust this kind of cutscenes, you should check it with EVERY CHARACTER and see what they don in Jack's place.

Someone mentioned this a few pages ago, and I agree that it would be really cool if Jack turned out to be artistic. Even if she's not that "good" (although I think she would be), I could totally see her painting and drawing pictures in her little hidey-hole, and giving them to Shepard like a little kid giving pictures to their parents. Really not in her persona, but I just like to picture her going up there all bashful like "Here... I made this" and then running away back downstairs.

Shep would have to pin them up on the wall or all over his desk or she'd get insulted and pummel him :P

Go on, Shepard, put it on the front of the fridge :D

I now have this mental image of Shep coming back to his quarters and finding this odd-looking tangle of plastics on his desk; the colours and lettering rippling through it suggest the plastic wrapping from a bottle of something-or-the-other he and Jack shared the night before, only it has been folded, tucked and twisted into a flower. Maybe another time it would be an animal of some kind, or an analogue of one of Shep's ship models... a throwback to a lonely little girl folding friends out of scraps of paper in her cell, though now they're expressions of feelings... gifts...

I've been calling Jack "Hope" recently, without even knowing about it.  Fitting, or not?

Maybe I'm being overly-sentimental, but I think a part of Jack kept her going because she hoped that some day, something good would happen to/for her.  She refused to be crushed by misfortune and the injustices visited upon her, so she kept moving, because she at least believed in herself.  I don't think that she expected anything good to happpen, since she's done some awful things herself.  She seems to think that the universe has it out for her, because that's her perception of how things have played out for her.  But still, despite all her doom-and-glooming, I think she hoped.

Trying to picture Jack's reaction to her pet name being "Hope". Only thing I can't decide is if it would be a punch or a kick to the groin. ;)

That being said, I think you're spot on.

I must admit, I am impressed with this thread. Most character threads just have a bunch of people arguing. I have no trouble at all believing Jack has an artistic side. I think it fits.

I love your Kasumi signature. :)

Speaking of Jack and art and Kasumi... I wonder, if Jack is a bit of an artist, how she would get along with Kasumi. Kasumi is obviously intimidated by her, but if Jack showed a hint of artistic nature I wonder what it would be like to see Jack go up into Kasumi's quarters and look at some of the pieces she has stashed away.

I imagine a somewhat tense moment where Kasumi is coming back from a mission or grabbing a bite to eat, she walks into her quarters and notices someone in the room out of the corner of her eye. She turns to look, and there's Jack staring at one of the paintings on the wall.

I wouldn't say your long post went unnoticed. I know I read it and pondered it, and I think you make some interesting points. However, trying to write something on the scale of Mondo's skill is a bit daunting to say the least. She's obviously had a lot of practice and a rather good imagination. That, however, doesn't mean you can't or won't make good comments here. We've got a lot of inspired and level-headed people with a knack for words in this thread (Mondo, "Uncle" Royce, BobbyTheI, and others). It's a bit intimidating at times, but it's also something we've just come to expect and also feel some pride in. So keep posting. I, personally, have liked what you've had to say so far.  :wizard:

Jack in Hock's vault... hmmm...

Well, while I don't think I can write something as short as I imagine it'd be, Jack doesn't really have any formal experience with art (I surmise at least, skin art notwithstanding). The Egyptian head might warrant a poke, David might warrant a sarcastic comment about his missing 'piece' (while I personally wonder how David stands on his non-load-bearing leg - he's made to work from a certain perspective, so parts of him are not to scale - the missing left leg bore most of the stress, the right has a tree branch added to it to strengthen it, so unless Hock has had it reinforced it should be in bits on the floor by all rights... sorry, my formal training has come out to play, I'll shush now :D ), the Krogan statues might get an "I can tell what it is", the Turian sculpture would likely be mocked or ignored for looking like three bits of drainage pipe, Lady Liberty's head might warrant a "what the **** is that for"... you get the idea.

A lot of what is in Hock's vault is in there for no other reason than it is worth something. Without an appreciation of providence or surmised artistic value, I doubt there's be anything in there that would move Jack. I think she'd prefer paintings like the ones upstairs; you can pour more of yourself into them, they're freer to interpret. The vault is just full of big stuff. Harder to steal too.

Though I think there's one thing she might find some liking for...

Jack picks up the Locust.

Jack: Now this is kinda neat... ha! Stupid ****er left some clips with it. Let's test it on some of this crap...

Something tells me that, if Jack was indeed an artistic personality, she'd probably appreciate Francis Bacon and Arthur Rackham.
- Or am I completely bonkers for suggesting it?

I hate name calling, but yes. I think she would like James Joyce, or maybe something darker and American like Poe or Tenessee Williams.

As a-matter-of-fact if you choose her as the fireteam leader on the suicide mission and you romanced her. She ends up dieing when she comes through the door and right before she dies she says something like, "I knew I was going to get hit on this mission. I was too happy... too happy with you."

She has such a corrupt and pessimistic outlook on life. And that's part of what I find so interesting about her. What could have possibly happened to her that caused her to have such negative views? She believes, "it all comes down to what they can take." She has never known selflessness, but the one time she experienced it (Murtock) she was crushed by what resulted from it. So not only does she have this thought that all people are selfish and greedy, but she also has this view that any selflessness will result in pain that, according to her, is worse than death.
