Agreed about this hairstyle. I'd say it was the only worthwhile variation in the entire row of 14. The rest really struck me as the artist trying too hard to do something eye-catchingly "cyberpunk" or whatever. The exception of which was the moppy black one with the smoked eyes, which I found lame for making me think of...

Ugh.

But really, go bald, or go home.

As an artist myself, I've no real problems with Matt Rhodes' concepts for Jack because as designs they're well-made, and all the little details and flourishes he adds are tons of fun to mull over.

On the other hand in terms of the direction the devs took with Jack's personality, the initial designs understandably didn't quite fit. They were way too "pretty". Hell, from what I've seen from the mini art book I thought they're better designed than what was done for Miranda. Ok that's beside the point. Jack absolutely had to be the complete visual opposite of Miranda, and somehow still have an appealing design.

Which was probably why we ended up seeing 6 of the concept pieces tattooed on Jack's left arm. When you do a whole lineup of character drafts, you tend to get attached to a bunch somewhere down the line. I know I would.

This is when you face Nassana Dantius... in my first playthrough I had Jack being in Miranda's place of the scene and having her "biotic halo" all around. In my second playthrough I used the alternate outfit from the dlc and the biotic halo is gone... I wonder what's happening. I also noticed that in both cases Jack was in her badass-crossed-arms pose, she didn't point her gun as Miranda does. Did anyone notice the same?

And now some cool stuff, made possible by mass effect fields!

I've been having the game throw me some curveballs of late... it seems to like jiggling around who is where in my squad. I pick someone second deliberately, I alter no weapons or anything else that could possibly alter the 'order' selected, and boom - my second is now my first. It's making getting some screenies a pain in the ass.

But, in Thane's recruitment mission... here's my two favorite reprobates, and no matter what I do at this point, Jack is always on my left. Every Shep, every damn time...

Image IPB

Thing is, two minutes later when I'm talking to Thane, Jack's on the right and Grunt's on the left! GAAAHHHH!

This is great.  I would have included a distinctly-Shepard garment in the picture, too, just so we know who that is on the ceiling, but it's implicit either way, as that's his room.

Yeah she always does that at that part. She also does that when you open up those two doors to release those Salarians. She looks so badass in that pose with that biotic aura all around her. She's like, "**** guns, I will crush you with my brain!" It would be kool if Jack didn't even use guns in combat and she only used biotics. She obviously didn't need guns when she was ripping Purgatory apart, and she doesn't use guns in that FFTL website video. It'd probably be too difficult to make a character use only biotics and no guns, but it would be kool if they could pull it off for ME3.

Ok, if we're going to bounce about through the possibilities of Matt Rhodes lovely concepts...

Image IPB

I like these two for the shaved-out sections of hair and the row of facial piecings... I'm not too keen on the overly-sleek outfits, but the hairstyles are unique enough to hold my interest, as are the body mods/row of interface sockets/the livestock ear tag/etc.

Image IPB

This one though is my absolute favorite; baggy, improvised clothing and the little tufts of hair at her temples... cute. And I love she's cut the crotch out of her overalls.

Jack with cotton candy pink cornrows? Can't see it. At all. Screams alt fashion statement (read: "Look at me! I'm pretty in an unconventional way!"), rather than the "F*ck what you think" sentiment I associate with the character.

This one is my second favorite. As adriono_c said I also cant see Jack with neon colored hair. If Jack was to grow hair it has to be crimson red mixed with black or all all raven, it keeps Jack true to her character.

Gotta say, In my honest opinion the concepts are nowhere near as good as the model they used. Some of them are cool, but none seem to have her shaved head and overall "Jackness".

I would have prefere if they gave her loyalty outfit as her starting outfit. Other than that I liked how they presented Jack.

It kind of makes sense that at first she's dressed very inappropriately, because she's at her prime stage of her "I don't give a ****" attitude. And when you help her forget about her past she starts to care more, so she then dresses more appropriately. Jack's loyalty outfit is the only one that you can apply some story too. Everyone else's is just, "Ooo, pretty new colors!"

Honestly, tell me; is it the avatar or just my general lack of balls which confuse people?

I did her loyalty mission last night before going to bed. It was really a hard step for her to take. She was second guessing herself on the shuttle before landing. I was almost sure that when the shuttle doors opened, that she had some fear in her eyes. I told her to release that fellow that was trying to start the facility up. I think that was good for her. When we talked about it on the ship, she was somewhat proud of herself for releasing him. The whole loyalty mission was very emotional for her, but also gave her a better sense of compassion for others and self worth for herself. The destruction of the facility may have gone a long way towards helping her not dwell in the past and look towards the future.

It's starting to get to the point where I think almost everyone in here is female... everyone talks like a gal, acts like a gal, or is a gal! Also your art style looks very feminine to me; pen & ink work by women tends to have a lot of sweep like yours; kinetic, but silky. Guys do very abrupt kinetic art... no, that's not meant to sound sexist.

Ok, it is ;)

I wouldn't have guessed that, not in a million years.  And no, I'm not going to give reasons why.

Ha! I love it!:wizard: I guess this proves that they didn't do the deed before the suicide mission, or poor Shep would've been too injured to get through it.:crying:
