I actually gasped when I saw this.  That picture is absolutely amazing.

Jaw. Floor.

Even moreso because I just imagined something like this while I was doing your storytime... just put her on the floor of a hotel bathroom with a big wall mirror she's hammered her hand into... right down to the spots of blood.

Hey, let's see if I can make reality do more things because I imagine it! ;)

That is just too awesome for words.

Going back a bit, I thought my colonist/ss paragade shep was the best fit for Jack. My Spacer/ War hero Mother Theresa shep may be a good influence, but I just don't think they could relate to each other. I think only somebody with some idea how the galaxy can turn someone into Jack would have a chance getting through to her.

Nice photomanip job.

I'd be more impressed if this dude either hand-painted it or modelled it himself.

I don't care how he did it (What exactly is a photomanip? Putting Jack's features on a real photo?), it's amazing. I'm still partial to Dolmheon's, but that one is a close second.

For those who may not have seen it, this is Dolmheon's:

Yeah, this one wins. The other is a little depressing.

I don't know anything about this stuff...but what method did he use that apparently makes the picture not "worthy of high praise"?

Not saying it's not an awesome pic, but the other one is better.

Do you think it would be difficult or impossible for non-Colony-background Shepards to relate to Shepard?

I think Spacer Shepards would be able to relate to Jack in that they at least know what it's like to never feel like they have a home in any one particular place.  A Spacer Shepard's parents may have been emotionally distant and unavaliable to him/her because of their business in the military.  If gameplay is any indicator, Shepard didn't even think to e-mail his mum after he was brought back.

One thing that concerns me with the Spacer background, though, is that Momma Shepard might disapprove of Jack simply because she't not at all befitting of a man of high military rank.   (I  think ME has more than enough characters motivated by issues with their parents.  We don't need more of the same thing.)

I know Mondo is working on our newest serving of storytime, but does anyone else have any thoughts about what issues Momma Shepard and Jack might take with each other?

They say the artist used digital trickery to augment a photo of another woman, and then just stick Jack's head on the woman's shoulders.  The assertion is that this detracts from the abilities of the artist and the quality of the image, since it wasn't fabricated from scratch, so to speak.

I can't talk about the rest of the body, but I'm 99% sure that the head is taken from a screenshot and pasted on the body. If you look closely you'll notice it's not totally "integrated" in the pic :innocent:

Well, you wanted storytime... it's a mite long, so I've whacked it straight in my blog. Done with the last track from the Watchmen soundtrack going in my head - thank you Tyler Bates.

I thought it was pretty good Mondo, especially the "fu-get it" line. Image IPB Ah.... Grunt in an aquarium...

....Wow. That is... words cannot describe how impressive that is. That is absolutely mind blowing. She almost looks real. What an incredible job with her legs and feet too considering we have never seen them. The tattoos on her legs and feet are perfect. It's like they've always been that way, it seems so natural. I am in shock how amazing this picture is.

Yeah, yeah... I still need to pull my thumb out of my ass with Northwest though. Bloody studies... I come home creamed and end up napping for an hour or two and it wastes my day. I'll have to try and get an early night or two in.

I've reread Round Two a couple of times... I need to fall out of love with the word 'kinda' but other than that, I do like how it turned out. It was nice to write as a fragment like that - no actual reconciliation, but hope at least. I initially thought about writing the first meeting; Jack in a dress! B*tchfights! Biotics! And thankfully thought it would be too long and we'd have seen it all before. Then I thought about the Jack in the hotel bathroom scene, angry and vulnerable and Shep losing it with her... get that idea the relationship is volatile. I managed to get both in in a way where I hope you guys can imagine them yourselves. All my sensible Jack scenes will fit in eventually - so this is between the end of ME2 and the beginning of ME3 chronologically speaking. After Girl Talk and before Walking After You

Oh, and bonus points for anyone that can identify the city - I raised the oceans by a few meters to make the bay, because there's no bay there now but a national park. There's three film references in there too. And Grunt and fish - because I like to imagine Jack and Shep being his mommy and daddy in a really demented way... they were with him on his Rite, and he respects them more than anyone else (Shep for being Shep, Jack for being good at breaking prisons up)... guess that means that Gone Fishin' is canon too :D

Great work Mondo, made me laugh a few times. But if these words ever came out of Jack's mouth:

I needn’t have tried breaking your nose in the john…

I'd be shocked. I think you might have let a little bit of your own vernacular slip in there with the needn't have tried ;)

This was my favorite part though:

Hannah: He has his father’s temper. Takes a long time to come, but when it does…

Jack almost snorts beer out of her nose and slaps the table a couple of times. Hannah gives an exasperated sigh.

Hannah: And we were doing so well...

That was awesome.
